We stayed at the River’s Fork Lodge last weekend and we stayed in the lodge part of the property right on the river. There is a house too that sits a little further back from the river, but still close that you can stay in which is incredible and for a larger group, but this trip was just me and my partner so we stayed in the lodge. I’d suggest staying in the house if you have 12 people or a family reunion or whatever. It’s large and in charge and it's newly renovated and feels so good in there and beautiful artwork! We loved the space we stayed in, top floor left, #1 and loved it there, it too is newly renovated. The porch is dreamy, right on the river to sit down and drink your coffee and enjoy the view both in the morning and evening. The porch is shared with your neighbor next door, if that helps friends stay by each other. Our neighbor was never seen out there. There is great wifi, a lot of streaming networks to watch (if you're into tv programs), a mini fridge, a kitchen table, live plants, coffee maker, extra blankets, pillows, towels, and great liquid soaps, lotions, shampoos/conditioners. You can enjoy a bonfire in front of the river, fish, and enjoy a very sick/plush sauna right on the river with a cold tub if you get too hot, an incredible activity especially at night where you can enjoy the stars. For convenience, there's a general store/gas station right next door that is newly renovated as well and was super helpful to us bc we got to eat their breakfast burritos and up our stock on wine. I did hear about hot springs in the area that we didn't end up doing, but will. And another thing we didn't try was the stand up paddle boarding, which we will be doing next time we come. I guess what I'm saying is I can't wait to come back to enjoy this lovely place. Can't recommend this enough. Oh also, if you have an rv/vanlife, etc, you can post up in one of the...

I recently stayed at River Fork Lodge with my wife and three kids for a weekend getaway, and it exceeded every expectation. Tucked away in a remote, peaceful part of Northern Idaho, this place feels like a true escape from the hustle of everyday life. There’s no cell service, but the lodge provides high-speed Starlink Wi-Fi, which worked flawlessly — I ran video calls for work while my kids streamed and played on their devices without a hitch. It’s the perfect mix of off-grid tranquility and modern convenience.
The river access is what really made the trip magical for us. Just steps from the lodge, there’s a gentle loop in the river that my six-year-old and I must have floated down 20 times. The current is mild, making it safe and incredibly fun with a life jacket. We spent the whole day swimming, wading, and enjoying the sun along the water’s edge.
Next door is Rawhide River Trips, which offers everything from casual floats to multi-day rafting adventures. It’s an amazing bonus to have those experiences literally next door, and the outfitters were friendly and knowledgeable.
You’re also about 30 minutes from the Montana border, where you can find beautiful hikes and nature spots if you want to explore a little further. But honestly, we were so content at the lodge itself we barely left.
The amenities are cozy and well-kept — the beds were incredibly comfortable (something I rarely find when traveling), and everything felt welcoming and thoughtfully designed for both families and small groups. It’s charming, unpretentious, and just… lovely.
If you’re looking for a place that’s off the beaten path, great for families, and close to outdoor adventure, River Fork Lodge is a hidden gem. We’ll definitely be...
Read moreWhat an unbelievable place. Found this place on a total random pick. I was actually a little concerned about the cell/WiFi ability with the potential being so remote. When we booked our RV spot with Porter he mentioned that Verizon cell service wasn’t very good but they did offer free WiFi which was extremely important as my wife needed it for work. When we arrived we found zero cell service but the WiFi was a savor. Now depending of what your here for no cell and WiFi could be just fine, I surely enjoyed the seclusion and being disconnected from the world.
We stayed in site #2 pretty close to the lodge which I think helped with the WiFi signal. The sites are large and easily fit our 28’ trailer and truck. Definitely could fit any size class A rig. There are full hookups at each site 20, 30, and 50amp at each site as well I believe. Not sure if you can get any closer to the river. The back of the trailer was probably less than 10 ft. to the river. Outstanding view.
The fishing was spot on, right on the river you don’t have to even drive anywhere if you don’t want. They also offer kayak rentals. Unfortunately I didn’t realize how warm, calm, and popular the river was. Next time we come back we will definitely float the river.
If there was really anything they could add, would possibly be something for kids to do. Just as a family of four with a 3 and 6 year old, they can only fish so much.
But over all 5 star, unfortunately this place won’t stay a hidden gem for much longer, can’t wait to come back. A huge thanks to...
