Mostly pleasant but the kitchenette unit we had was a bit off. Before those details, the motel is clean, the grounds are well maintained and well managed. The rooms smell fresh, we did not have the usual remnants of smokers in our room and the room seemed clean with no marks on the walls or furniture.
The king sized bed was way too soft and we ended up sleeping on an air mattress on the floor. The room is a little unfinished: bare wood used to build a shelf for the microwave and to mount the thermostat; absolutely no lighting on the rear half of the room. It's functional but feels unfinished. The lighting was so bad we used an electric lantern to see in the kitchen.
That said, the kitchen has basic pots, plates, cups, cooking and eating utensils, but no frying or sauce pan. The bed is very close to the stove - not unsafe, but, close enough to reconsider what you cook. The stove is electric and takes an eternity to boil water. Fridge is generous with a tiny freezer- good enough to stock 5 days for 3 people. They provided dish soap and sponge and there is a place to hang a towel but no paper towels.
Heat was nonfunctional until maintenance came in and opened the radiator. Stayed cozy. Door to bathroom would not stay shut. Bathroom was spacious and well equipped but very limited counter space. This hotel uses soap dispensers in the shower and by the sink, so no tiny bottles which is great for the environment but I'd suggest bringing soaps and shampoos you enjoy.
There was no iron in our room. There was 1 hanger. There were only 2 drawers for clothing in the night stand. The dresser under the TV should have had drawers but it's completely open like a mini fridge was supposed to go in there. Big enough for 2 large suitcases.
There is a busy road within earshot if a window is open. It's busy all night. It is unnoticeable if the windows are closed.
Staff is helpful and pleasant. Night receptionist was especially friendly. Guests were a mix of work and vacation travelers. It was calm and quiet at night. The area overlooks a pleasing view of a distant mountain and the golf course across the street. Felt safe and relaxed.
Recommended for families or hikers visiting Acadia for 7 days or less on a budget. You could enjoy hanging out in front of your room but aside from that you will need to bring the entertainment with you. We enjoyed some beers in front of our room after cooking dinner. It is not a bad way to end a long day on your feet in Acadia. While the excitement may live on Mount Desert Island, you could realistically relax here...
Read moreFirst let's start with the good. It's close to Acadia, the price is right and you can bring your pet. The towels and pillows were both nice quality. There is a fridge and microwave in the room. The fridge does a good job and is nice and cold. The TV in the room is nice as well. Now for the bad, the room smelled damp, moldy, like wet dog, and cigarettes. They try to cover it up with plug in air fresheners which only makes it worse. The A/C units leave the rooms very very humid for some reason. We mostly ended up keeping the windows open to air the room out. The mattress must be original to the building of the motel. It was the most uncomfortable and squeaky mattress I ever had the displeasure of sleeping on. The walls are very thin and the hotel is pet friendly. So I hope you are a deep sleeper, because you will hear your neighbors and their pets so clearly its like they are in the room with you. There was also no maid service at all during our 5 day stay. We had to hunt down a maid for a towel, toilet paper and soap refills. They do provide an envelope for a tip for the maids though. My tip is provide maid service for people during a multi-day stay if you expect money in that envelope. Also do you enjoy hot showers? Well too bad for you. Luke warm water it is! Lastly, the deadbolt on the room door is purely ornamental. Never again, not...
Read moreFront desk attendant was nice, and the main office well maintained. Unfortunately, I WOULDN'T COME BACK AGAIN. The place is so run down. Originally, booked and paid in advance for a two night stay in a room with 2 queen size beds. 3 ppl my 26 daughter, 14 son and myself. The pictures we saw online were so misleading. Not 100% truthful. When we got to the room it had a a very strong oder. Airfreshener had been plugged in! ODD!! We had left and came back to an infection of bugs flying around . When I had opened the door to get 1 or 2 out, 10-15 flew in. The bedspreads looked dingy. The boxsprings were stained and had been covered to hide them. No normal outlets for the lights or plugs near the beds and no cellphone charging ports either. 4 lights over head on the ceiling that had only 1 mode "stark white". We were so uncomfortable that we decided not to stay the 2nd night and made reservations somewhere else for the next day. There was a locked door in the room too. My guess it connects to the room next door. See pics for greater understanding. The toilet didnt flush right. The shower won't drain. Dead ant i. Shower. No shower liner. Shower curtian was to long. Wear and tear was much more noticeable in the daylight. Very run down. Chipping paint, rust, leaks. Rent a room weekly kind of place for...
