Most beautiful place on earth!!
We booked Mahana house as our last stop on our Hawaiian honeymoon. I booked the cottage all the way back in December for our honeymoon in July.
This hidden gem is more spectacular in person than it is in photos. Itβs truly paradise. The cottage is so nicely decorated and finished, everything is spotless and seemed brand new. The little patio out front was a nice spot to look for the wild pigs in the orchards. And the kitchenette was perfect for making coffee and making a light breakfast/lunch. We loved all of the storage space across from the kitchenette. Tons of shelves and hangers for clothes. The small dining and living room was perfect for the two of us. And the king bed was one of the most comfortable beds we have ever slept on. And it has adjustable firmness for both sides! The bathroom was incredible. Lots of space and a beautiful shower. The robes were a nice touch too. The best part of the cottage was the view from the balcony. The chairs were perfect to lounge on and watch the sunrise or sunset. It was incredible to watch the rain from the balcony too. There were little green lizards that came to visit us while we sat in the sun. We couldβve spent hours out there.
You definitely didnβt need a/c as it was always breezy.
We also made use of the laundry and the kitchen in the main house. Although the bbq was not hot enough to cook our dinner, we easily pivoted to using the stovetop. There are tons of basics supplied in the kitchen - make sure to take a look in the fridge before you go grocery shopping. And the fresh fruit was so nice to try!
We barely saw any other guests around during our visit and when we did they were so friendly. Itβs really a nice private and quiet space to relax in. We met Randy a few times and he was so nice to chat with.
And finally the crew of cats were so fun to have around. They were super friendly and loved to greet everyone who passed by. It was fun to learn all of their names and their foster stories.
We really hope to be back soon as it is the most amazing place. Itβs a great getaway from all of the touristy spots and from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. This is a great spot for couples. Highly recommend Mahana House...

Β Β Β Read moreThis place was very, very nice. We stayed in a cottage. The room was spectacular - all perfect. It felt so professionally done and was sparkling clean. The view was incredible. We loved the more remote location with quick access to Hilo. The main house has a kitchen which was very useful, but it wasnβt the same pristine condition as the cottages. There were delicious farm fresh eggs and fruit available on the property. The road to the property is very, very bad and needs attention. Also, children under 12 are not allowed. I recall the website saying, βthe experience is geared to 12 and overβ not that they were not allowed. We had our 10 month old with us, and I called the owner a few days prior to check-in upon noticing this wording in a welcome email. He was understanding and allowed us to stay (because we were not in the main house), but to be honest, I couldnβt really get past it. I felt like even the tiniest whimper from my son could result in dirty looks. Everyone was very kind and welcoming of our family, so it was overall an amazing experience. I would stay again if children were allowed or we took an...
