My partner and I had been off roading a couple miles out from Pele’s Eye when we found ourselves in a treacherous situation. As we were driving along a backroad, the ~300lb truck cap and attached camper bed popped off. Luckily no one was injured, but we needed help to make it back to the main road. After a couple of calls, we were pointed in the direction of Ruebon. He was a godsend. After trying to lift the topper and hitting a dead end, we all strategized on removing the individual pieces to return them safely and secure to the car. It was the smart method, but all in all was several hours of sweaty effort. Ruebon was patient and kind throughout it all, taking time out of his day as a hotel owner to help out complete strangers. Several hours later, we managed to get everything secured on the car and were able to make our way out to the main road.
Earlier in the day, Ruebon had shared with us the story of Pele, the fiery goddess of Hawai'i as well as his hotel's namesake. Best is a Vista Extrodinaire, the ocean, the sunrise, don't forget to look up into the star filled sky above. The road way in is alittle rough on your rental car. They are still on the way of progress, and I believe they will have better facilities because they have a talanted architecture😏 When I stay, they have a toilet(not flushed)and cold water shower(outside).
