We are a family of 4. We were looking for a quiet space to get away from the hustle and bustle and HEAT of the day. Silver Oaks Ranch was our home while we were on the Big Island of Hawaii! Not only were our accommodations clean and comfortable, hey were equipped with all the essentials we needed! We had a full kitchen and laundry facilities. We had access to bottled water, coolers, snorkels, masks, boogie boards, beach chairs, beach shoes, beach towels and sunscreen. We had loads of fresh towels, bathroom essentials and anything you could possibly need in the kitchen! I am positive if you needed anything else, you only needed to ask and it would be supplied! Our hosts, Amy and Rick, were so thoughtful. They were present enough that if you needed anything you knew where to find them....but gracious enough to be discreet if you needed privacy! We were treated like family! Their knowledge of the Island was absolutely priceless! We enjoyed farm fresh eggs, oranges, tangerines, tomatoes, avocadoes, bananas, Hawaiian coffee beans, Macadamia nuts and chocolate♥ We loved the animals and lost our youngest daughter each day to the caring of the animals. Staying at Silver Oaks Ranch, was like staying with family.... ||The one thing that stuck out for us accommodation wise, was that the temperature was nice and cool. 1500ft is a comfortable place to be when the sun gets too much! We loved that we could retreat back "home" when we needed the comfort and peace of being travelled out! There is no doubt in our minds that if ... no when we return to Hawaii....we will look forward to the sanctuary of the...
Read moreMy husband and I stayed at the Ranchview Cottage at Silver Oaks Ranch for our 30th Wedding Anniversary. Amy and Rick were very gracious hosts, and had a bottle of champagne waiting for us in the refrigerator along with chocolate covered macadamia nuts. They gave us suggestions for places to eat and things to do.||||The Cottage has a large bathroom, king size bed, full kitchen, dining area and living room. The loft had 2 twin beds, ideal for small children. There is a common area between the two cottages with a washer, dryer, and everything needed for the beach: towels, coolers, boogie boards, fins, masks and snorkels.||||After a busy day on the water, or touring Kailua-Kona (which was hot and humid), it was wonderful to retreat up the mountain to the Ranch and sit on the lanai, enjoying the view of the coastline and ocean while being cooled by the breeze. We enjoyed sleeping at night with only a fan, no need for air conditioning.||||It was fun to see and pet the animals. Amy and Rick keep a horse, chickens (no roosters), miniature goats and donkeys, and cats as pets. Also meandering around the property are wild pheasant, wild turkeys and a variety of birds.||||We had a relaxing, wonderful vacation and will definitely return to...
Read moreWhat a wonderful place and Rick and May could not have been more accomodating and friendly. The accomodations are spacious, very well maintained and elegant. We could not have asked for more. You are way above the hustle and bustle of Kona with a beautiful view and the sunsets are knock outs. The grounds are lovely. We were looking for a quiet, restful sanctuary which also is positioned as a ground base to access the other wonders of the Big Island. It met all of our needs in spades. We were here for nearly two weeks in April 2014. We will return again next year. We have done a lot of International traveling, seen a lot of places, and this ranks with the very best. And we don't have to drive on the wrong side of the road, can understand road signs, can speak to the locals, and it's close! Hard to beat! And Rick is a master professional photographer. He gave us some well received hints and even took us on a photography outing. The pictures in the Ranch House where we stayed are his. Wow! || Jack and Sue Hammond|| ...
