Waipio Wayside Bed & Breakfast is the place to stay on the Big Island!
I have been a repeat customer at this B&B due to two things:
CHARM & LOCATION- Wanting to visit Hilo & Kona on the Big Island? Well, be sure to stop and see the Waipio Valley, otherwise known as Valley of the Gods. The B&B is located right outside of Honokaa which is already on the road between Hilo & Kona. There is a downtown area for shopping and even a great grocery to pick up some odds and ends. Needing more? Waimea is just about 15 minutes down the road for some great restaurants, etc. Please don't race over to Kona/Hilo or you might miss a piece of true Hawaii. The charm of this B&B comes from its home like feel. The owner, Jacqueline, has created lush and unique bedding, furniture, and bathroom accessories. I don't feel like I am in a hotel, which is nice for this frequent traveler. I have stayed in the China on-suite bath room, as well as the upstairs Library on-suite bath room.
BREAKFAST - Part of being on vacation is not having to cook, clean, etc, right? Well, you are in for a treat as Jacqueline prepares your breakfast favorites with a touch of Hawaii. I had the pleasure of enjoying fresh farm eggs and local fruits, such as passion fruit and papaya. She will even prepare a fresh fruit smoothie, biscuits, muffins, scrambled eggs with feta/fresh tomatoes, and great coffee! I almost did not want to leave the breakfast table.
Thanks J for another fantastic visit. I will see you soon.

Read moreWe stayed at the Waipio Wayside for 3 nights during a ten year anniversary trip to Hawaii. Our first three nights on the Big Island at Waipio Wayside were absolutely fantastic. The house is beautiful, and in a gorgeous setting, with a perfect location for exploring the east and northeast of the Big Island. ||We stayed in the Birdseye View room, and would stay again in an instant. The warmth, comfort, and attention to detail were all far above expectations. High quality, luxe bed linens also added to the package, for a wonderful nights rest. The room is located right off the shared deck, which made it perfect for enjoying a cup of tea in the morning. ||Finally, the owner and the inn keepers - Jackie, Nick, and Ani! It is clear that they all love the house, the setting, Hawaii Island, and very much live what they do. We don’t get to meet Jackie, but Nick and Ani were absolutely wonderful. They made us feel welcome, gave us wonderful tips and ideas, and were a joy to talk to over breakfast. Speaking of - Nick makes a fantastic breakfast each morning, and always something different on offer! A really excellent start to the day. ||Ollie and I would like to thank you all for for such a fantastic welcome to the Big Island. We hope to be back, and will absolutely recommend Waipio Wayside to...
Read moreThe usual phrases and photos used to describe B&B accommodations and service do not do justice in the case of Waipi'o Wayside Bed & Breakfast. We originally booked the Birdseye room which was spacious, clean and comfortable with a separate door to the property's large patio space overlooking the Pacific Ocean. After a two night stay we booked an additional 3 nights, later in the week, when space at the property opened up in the Plantation Room as the Birdseye and Chinese rooms (both face the ocean) were taken. Jacqueline is an experienced host on the big island and In-keepers Ani and Nick (an executive chef by training) make the morning breakfast an experience that is definitely not to be missed. Warm house made molasses cookies welcomed us in our room on arrival and daily breakfast was prepared specially to fit our health conscious dietary requests. Each breakfast included a different specialty baked treat from scratch, a fresh fruit smoothie and local island fruit plate and a delicious hot entree. Coffee and tea offerings were of the highest quality. The seating on the deck is perfect for morning or afternoon relaxation overlooking the Pacific. Consider staying at Waipi'o Wayside if you want a truly extraordinary experience on...
