I work on the road quit a bit. I’ve had some good experiences and like many people some bad ones. But you WILL NOT have a bad experience at this location. I stayed a total of 3 weeks while working in the area. The staff are top notch and super pleasant. From my first call with Jody I knew this would be a great stay. Her phone presence was kind and sounded like the hospitality industry suited her. She really went all out to make sure my stay was not interrupted when a large event happened. I would’ve had to leave a couple days since my reservation didn’t cover the weekend of the event and they were sold out. She was able to rework some reservations(gladly those folks got just what they needed as well) and I was able to continue without having to stay in Fargo a couple days and then move back in. Lilly was just so pleasant as well. She was real fun in the bar area for us dudes after working 12-15 hour days. Finally the manager, Beth, is just wonderful. She is so patient and kind. She really looks for the best in her guest and her own staff. She runs the hotel with grace and dignity. I watched a guest come unhinged about something truly not the staff’s fault but the guest’s. She was patient and truly professional in dealing with such an unreasonable guest. Beth really unites her staff to the benefit of the guest, too. I know that the other techs that stayed here have the same feeling about Beth and the rest of the staff. When it came time to go home to Nashville the only thing I regretted was how I would miss the staff at this hotel. Unfortunately, Hawley Minnesota isn’t a place I expect to work in again but it would be fun to visit even if just to come hang out with Beth, Jody and Lily. Ya’ll...
Read moreBathroom was NOT clean: the toilet had pee running down the front of it and both the carpets and the bathroom floors were quite dirty; I wiped them up with a washcloth and left the dirty cloths in the tub. The TV remote was filthy, so I wiped it with a washcloth too. I did tell staff the next day and left a note requesting the housekeeping to vacuum, sweep and mop the floors while I was at work that day. Though, front desk staff said that the head housekeeping staff supposedly "oversaw" the clean up, the floors still had not been vacuumed when I returned that evening, so my guess is that they didn't mop either.
When I went to fill in a customer satisfaction survey for AmericInn, they gave NO OPPORTUNITY to mark anything besides "satisfied" or "very satisfied" and I wasn't at all "satisfied" in the cleanliness department, so I decided not to fill it out. Instead, I decided to do this one online where I can write what it really was like.
The breakfast was fine and front dest staff was friendly enough, but the cleanliness was very poor and I couldn't get my own ice, so I had to wait for front desk staff to get it for me. Unfortunately, I find this to be the case from Carlson Parkway Country Inns' to AmericInns and others. They pay attention to the "outward appearance" and forget about the actual details of cleaning. Read moreOur room had been double-booked. Some backstory: we had placed the reservation over 2 months prior to the night of our stay, and the day of, completed the online check in. When we arrived at 11:30pm, we learned that our room was unavailable, as there had been some issue in the system. We were told to call the next morning and connect with the manager for a refund, and given no other alternatives.
While we understand that glitches and strange things happen, and the staff we spoke to the next morning did all she could to help us, the utter lack of communication throughout was very frustrating. It was clear the staff the evening of our planned stay knew about this issue as soon as we gave them our names. So much of the frustration could have been helped with a phone call as soon as they knew about the error. We were never able to connect with manager, despite calling several times and though we were told we were issued a refund the following morning, as of writing this review, it appears to be another charge on our account rather than a refund and again, there was no communication about what was going on.
