I stayed here twice but not by my choice, and both weeks I did not sleep well or enjoy my stay! This is truly a motel, the rooms are small, and cobbled together. I wouldn't call it rustic as much more outdated. The rooms are clean, but the beds are old, not on a traditional bed frame, but a platform. Between your bed is your fridge and microwave. The curtain in the room are very old, which lets light come into the room, which is okay if your sleeping at night, but when you work third shift you kind of want to turn off the sun while trying to sleep. The room was very uncomfortable temp wise, the air conditioner outlet was turned off so you couldn't use it, and the base board heating didn't seem to get any cooler in either of the rooms I stayed in the two times I visited. ||||The bathroom is outdated as well, and my sink had calcium build up on it that looked like sea barnacles, which didn't gross me out, or make me think the hotel was dirty, it is just the water in the area is all! There was a sign screaming at me the minute I approached the bathroom about how to properly operate the shower handle. The shower was tiny, my thin coworkers even complained about the size, and the fact the shower curtain let water spray out one side.||||The hotel itself is not very sound proof, my coworkers were on either side of me; I could hear them talking on their phones, music, tv, alarms going off, and even one of the snoring. They offer wifi which is so slow you might as well walk to the location of the information! My coworker was in the room with the router/modem and unplugged the extension cord that had the television, coffee maker, alarm clock plugged in, to plug his laptop in and took us all offline.||||Look the hotel is clean, the guy I dealt with seemed nice and I am sure the hotel is good for a one or two night stay! My issues comes from my room being entered multiple times while I was work. Privacy is a big issue for me, and there is not interior lock to keep people out, only a door knob which apparently you and owner both hold a key too. ||||I will sleep in my car before I stay at this hotel, or drive a ridiculous amount of miles to avoid...
Read moreWe on a last min decision decided to try to book a room in Gladwin. We saw Marty and Christal's place. Asked about the super late check in time they would not have a problem. Check in was great they left our door unlocked for us since they would be closed at the time of arrival and we went inside. The beds were a lil harder than I prefer the hubs was fine, but I personally like a softer bed. Didnt notice that night due to the time, but in the morning when we were showering (some of the BEST water pressure!!!) that even the grout in the bathroom was clean. I know that is not a big deal to most, but I despise tile floors due to dirty grout and was sooo pleasantly surprised that it was clean!!! That in its self made me feel they take care of the property. With all the issues travelers run into with not knowing what they are getting till time of arrival they will not have to worry here! I am a superhost myself I have never stayed anywhere yet off Airbnb but next time we come up and need a room we will be booking a room here! We were talking to Marty and had some pretty amazing chats. He let us know where to try for lunch and that was a great food. I am thankful there are people/hosts like Christal and Marty that helps make being away from home that much easier. Thanks for all you did and we had an awesome stay! Keep up what you are doing all is well :) If you are ever in the area and need a place here in Portland just get with us. Be safe and God...
Read moreWe stayed two nights for a wedding we were attending in Gladwin. Now, I am a stickler for a clean room and am leary about motels but I will say for a family owned, road side motel ( I’ve stayed in two very nasty ones in mackinaw city of all places) this one was very clean. Obviously the rooms are a little dated but it was CLEAN and that’s really all you can ask for. Front desk staff was polite and kind. We got fresh towels and our bathroom cleaned after our first night. Shower stayed hot and had great water pressure. TV worked great. I really appreciated the 5 cup coffee pot and the fridge for our drinks and left overs. Such a nice little place. Also, the cafe around the corner has...
