People need to quit complaining about the toilet /shower thing and understand it's called an RV Resort, not a campground. Every modern RV from a pop-up to the biggest diesel coach has a toilet, and almost all have showers; even tent campers can bring a portable loo.
If you're one of those who doesn't want to soil their hands emptying your holding tank, or worse yet, don't allow "#2" in your precious new toy, then you really can't complain about the portables they provide, which by the way are only supposed to be for those emergency trips before you get settled in and the tent campers.
I don't care if you only stay one night or a week, if you're careful those holding tanks will be able to handle it, and it's super easy to drop that hose into the receptacle over at Silverwood and pull the drain lever. There's nothing the owners can do right now as the soil doesn't 'perk test' for the septic system needed, and yes, the roads are dusty gravel, but soon to be done with pea gravel and oil.
IMHO the place is laid out poorly and $10 extra for a "pull thru" site is extortion when there's no back-in ones available. There's also a distinct lack of shade in many sites.. Too anxious to cut timber when they're developing, and too cheap to replace what mother nature had once provided. Although $40 doesn't sound like much compared to a motel, it's still quite a bit when you bring everything but the pavement with you, it's electric and water only, and the WiFi is almost non existent, but considering the alternative places in the area, this is newer and nicer, and has better views. The pool looked clean and there's basketball and a big lawn.
Trust me on this one, I've been RV'ing here for years and have been to every RV Park and campground from Worley to the boarder, and over to Spokane, Colville, Chewelah, Deer Park, Post Falls, Coeur d'Alene and Spirit Lake. This is as good as it gets for the area. For long-term I'd recommend Tamarack in CdA or the Coeur d'Alene RV Resort in Post Falls
Read moreThe park was nice enough. The staff was extremely friendly, but our site was fairly bare-bones...it had water and electricity, but it felt fairly crowded. There were few trees around us, and even though the B Loop was fairly close to the office, we felt like we were far from the pool and other amenities.
I really wanted to love this campground. It truly is very close to Silverwood, and we stayed here because there was nothing available at the Silverwood RV park. We thought the trolley would be a good amenity, but we never used it.
What really leads me to my three-star rating was the bathroom facilities. We knew going into the weekend that bathrooms/showers were not included. However, we were far too optimistic about the port-a-potty situation. In the B-loop, there were two. One was handicap-accessible, the other was not. What they both were, was FULL. On the first day (a Friday) they were tolerable, at best. Fairly full, but definitely ripe. By Saturday night, they were full to the brim. By Sunday morning, when I REALLY needed to go, I decided it was better to wait it out... We hurried out of the campground to the nearest convenience store instead. The port-a-potties were DISGUSTING. I was shocked that the owners could justify having only TWO toilets for camping loops that housed over 100 people.
When we booked, we thought the low price would offset the inconvenience of no showers or toilets. Turned out, we would have gladly paid much more for those amenities.
We would stay at this campground again if one of two things happened: a) they install showers/bathroom facilities, or b) they provide enough clean port-a-potties to serve ALL of their guests in a sanitary fashion.
This is a fairly new campground, so I would give them a chance if nothing is available at the Silverwood campground. However, if by 2017, they have not remedied the bathroom situation, I wouldn't stay there unless you have a camper with excellent...
Read moreThis place is amazing and I don't know where to even start. We arrived at 9:00pm to a beautiful and very well groomed camp ground on a Tuesday evening and the hosts were right there to greet us with a smile. When we told them our name, they immediately recognized that we had been on the waiting list for the upcoming weekend and informed us that they had done some switching around and got us a spot for the weekend, then they kindly helped us back our motorhome in to our spot. We were given a bus/trolley schedule for Silverwood, and promptly left the next morning for a day at Silverwood, how convenient! The driver makes the ride so fun for the kids. There is a little store on site that basically has everything you may have forgot, and the best thing about it is they don't mark everything up to a ridiculous price. The prices are what you would pay at a Walmart or Safeway. We also rented a propane tank full of propane for only $5.00 for the duration of our stay AND a truck came around for the sites that didn't have sewer hook ups to empty the grey tank for only $5.00 (or you could do it yourself for free at the dump station on site). There were several camp hosts and they were all so nice and friendly. Some of them had children, and even the children were helpful and were SO well mannered and polite (King boys). The pool, basketball court, and volleyball court were definitely a plus, they really sweetened up our trip. Uber does come to Ravenwood and for about $25.00 and will take you to Hertz in Hayden where you can rent a car $50 for the day (we drove to Coeurdalene for the day where there was lots of shopping and eating options) We had such an amazing time here and will definitely make this at least an annual trip. Thank you Ravenwood for making our...
