First off when calling to make sure we could put a tent on our rv site they told us they would have to charge us for a rustic site for the weekend $99 for 3 nights. So on-top of the $249 we had to pay $99 more for a tent on the same site. Ok so we paid it. i asked A few people& they said they did not have to pay extra! not cool! Woke up on the first morning here&there was a flow of water coming from the ground. It had a bad smell to it & it was heading toward our site area. We had the ground manager come over &he told us "it was not sewage but it did smell bad". He did come back and offer us 2 sites (rem we had to pay for a rustic camp site for our tent) up closer to the playgrounds. This area was literally 20 feet from the pavilion, the giant campfire, bathrooms, volleyball court &playground &our neighbors would literally be in the back of our picnic table. NO space!!! So we choose to stay in our current spot. They did offer $25 off a day. later that day the water was getting worse, it is gray in color! This is not just ground water! Its some kind of water runoff from sewage somewhere. we stopped a staff member & he came over and told us they knew about this They dug it up& just filled it back in. Seriously!? Oh its site 75 STAY AWAY! So we sent that staffer to get the manager about 530 (mind you he was supposed to stop by at 300 also). Anyways the mgr never came over. We just went to wash dishes& there the mgr & staffer were playing corn hole & drinking!! We have heard from multiple campers here that this place changed ownership in 2021 &they said it has gone down hill! They said just this year the prices have about doubled for permanent rental sites& alot of people are moving out at the end of this season! This should be a huge sign to people coming here the "regulars" are leaving Day 2 I went to the rest room at 3am & the toilet would not flush& i couldnt wash my hands, no notes in the bathroom about water issues. Woke up this morning & was i formed that the sewage was worse & came closer to my tent. I popped out of the tent & it is flowing closer but there is still a few feet before it hits us. Also found out that my friends husband went up to the bathhouse this morning to use the facilities still no water. He walked out& found the manager in a room turning back on the water. He said "i came in today & heard the water was off". He then went back into the restroom &there was water. then went back outside & looked at the door mgr was in was& it was a locked door . only way water was off is if you or your staff turned it off buddy! Our neighbors by us told us that they were given notice to conserve water. Conserving water &taking water away from us (turning it off and locking the door) are too totally different things! My friend called the office and spoke to his wife & she got irate w/ him. Shortly after The mgr came flying over yelling at us to leave (so disclaimer my friends husband did make the decision to stay because he did not want to move his pop up &the new sites were ridiculously small, but he also couldn't just bite his tongue) The mgr & my friends husband got into a very loud verbal match which ended up with us getting 3 hours to leave the campground with no refund at all now. My friend stepped in & tried to reason with the mgr & he said "you guys did nothing, you have been very understanding but he has not". So i get why we were kicked out. it sucks because of 1 bad egg all of our weekends were ruined! Over all yes my friends husband got us kicked out, the fact still remains these owners are shady & unfair! They knew the whole time there was a septic issue & still rented us the site. Not to mention their ridiculous rules which so many other campers broke with multiple cars on the sites & we were made to buy a whole site for the weekend just to pop up a tent on one site (i would have parked at the entrance thats fine!) also, why are there so many photos on FB of the manager and his dad winning 1st n 2nd place with $$ for games? That should be for paying campers. I have showed you inside the shadiness of these people.camp at your own risk!|This IS NOT MY FIRST rodeo camping! Ive been to MANY private campgrounds and state parks in my 45 years of life! The rules n regs here are ridiculous. Side note when you call a campground a month before labor day and they still have open rv sites… HERES YOUR SIGN! Will totally remember that for the rest of my life! We made a very bad decision coming here. I hope i can save you your time money and health...
Read moreI recently spent some time at Campers Paradise in Sigel, PA (July 19th-July 23rd 2015). I could not believe how far off base some of the reviews were. So I decided to give my opinion on the grounds and staff. One of the things that I could not understand is all of the reviews stating that the staff was rude. Every staff member that I personally encountered was friendly and greeted you with smile, and also asked what they could do to help or find. Secondly even the patrolling Security Staff waved and smiled as they passed by at random times of the day. I not only found the staff friendly but accommodating when we had arrived the spot we had chosen the approach was too narrow for my husband to back the four door long bed truck and the 30ft camper into(Site 110) the staff quickly found us a new spot(Site 111) for our length of stay. In fact the only thing in the reviews I found personally to be true was that it is clean. When I say clean I mean no litter, no dog droppings, picnic tables that did not require covers on top or benches. The shower house was immaculate no soap scum on the anti-slip-mats or shower curtains no debris of any kind in any of the stalls, halls or open areas. That goes for both Women’s and the Men’s facility as I had my husband check if anyone was in there just so I could go see for myself. I found restrooms to be clean and stocked, as well as the one by the pool. The playground was nicely mulched and litter free. In fact the only place I had found even the smallest amount of litter was on the small trail leading out of the campground toward the State Forest and to be completely honest we may have been in the State Forest when I found it. Now I can get on with the fun stuff we had found. They have a teepee! It is to cool it sleeps ten and is the last rentable space before the edge of the campground. I put it on my wish list for when we go back. They have so much to do so if you do not plan to go running to a nearby attraction every day of your stay, you still will not be board. They have a camp store that fallows suit for the area and is a little high in pricing but no more than anywhere else. In fact they are cheaper than MacBeths (A nearby Souvenir /Gas Stop) on the “oops I forgot…” items. The swimming pool has to be the cleanest I has ever seen for having multiple users. There are peddle carts to rent, and balls you can sign out for sand volleyball. They have a game room with a Jukebox, pool table, video games and a claw game. Also a few last notes on and some things worth a mention. When traveling with a camper if you plan to use the full hook up sites the water electric and swage, the sewage hook up is on an angle so a straight up adapter is the way to go. Also the sites are 30amp so if needed bring your adaptor. One final tip on the site accommodations they have tremendous water pressure so I would highly recommend a water pressure regulator. Last but not least if planning to visit here please bring quarters as the store runs out of them quickly and there is nothing worse than crabby kids with no quarters. Sincerely, Marlowe Heredy "One...
Read moreThis campground is very nice and clean, and yes it does have activities and may appeal to many. However, I was not a happy camper here. Another reviewer mentioned the fees, fees, and more fees. I can't agree more. I have a personal pet peeve about campgrounds charging per person per day fees, so I may be biased against them from the start. I know other campgrounds charge these fees, but I still don't agree with them or think that the number of "free" guests should be reasonable - who now camps with only 4 people (2 kids, 2 adults)? Not very many people. If you think you can get around the guest fee, think again. They have a very good security system in place that won't allow any extra vehicles into the campground without a pass. We were camping with another family. That family arrived an hour earlier than the allotted check in time of 2PM and they wanted to charge them a half day fee. (My friends just decided to wait around for an hour and then check in to save some money). We arrived shortly after the 2PM check-in time and found that it seemed to be a mass check-in for everyone. It took a little while to get checked-in, which is probably due to the fact that any early birds are charged so much extra. You will need $10 for the gate key card, and they only give you 1 per site. If you want internet, they got that too.. for an extra fee, per device, per day. If you think you can get around the per device fee - think again. You are given a pass code for each device. And cell phone reception is poor there, so if you depend on your phone you will probably need internet. There is an extra fee for air conditioning. There is a $10 fine for moving the fire pit. The swimming pool is not very big. The bathrooms were so-so (I've seen worse campground bathrooms) - but there seemed to be an inch of water underneath the bath mats that creeped me out a bit. The sites are also very small - we were fortunate that there was no one in the site beside us so we were able to spread out a bit more than normal. The positives of the place are that it is very secure if you are worried about that sort of thing, there is a playground, there is good ice cream there, and it is pet friendly. I doubt my family will stay there again, largely due...
