I'm reviewing this business now after having it recommended to me when I was searching online for a place to stay near Junction City. I shudder when I think back on the bad experiences I had when I first moved to Herington in 2017. I'm not sure if this place has changed in 7 years since, but there was a time when one couldn't stay if they didn't have their own vehicle. I know this from personal experience, because after the second time of not having any license plate information to put down upon signing in, I was told you need to have your own vehicle to stay as a guest. The female employee, boss, owner, whoever she was at the time had the nerve to ask me, "How did you even get here?" What difference does it make HOW I got there, whether it be someone else's vehicle, a bike, I walked, hitchhiked, whatever. This was when I couldn't quite move into my house after buying it, so I needed somewhere to stay and this was the only available place in town. Ever since, though, whenever I've had to stay at hotels and motels in the state of Kansas, not once have I ever been turned away for not having a car of my own. If they've changed how the business is run nowadays, good for them, but if not, shame on them for being near discriminatory, because not EVERYBODY owns and drives a car and a person should be allowed to stay, no matter how they arrived there, plus as long as they have the money to pay, which I did those 2 times, then it shouldn't be an issue...
Read moreMy family and I visit Herington when possible for my brother that's buried at Sunset Hill cemetary. Years ago was our first stay at this hotel and it was really nice. No complaints what so ever. I don't know what happened but we just visited this past weekend and I don't think we will ever stay there again. Staff isn't very friendly. We walked into our room and it smelled like a petting zoo. We immediately noticed how dirty it was and checked for any signs of bed bugs. There was a huge smudge of a bug that was killed on the wall, legs still on the wall and all. The smoke detector battery compartment was open and empty. Boogers on the wall and dirty hand smudges in the bathroom. The bathroom vent was caked in dust and rust. Food or something was on the night stand handle and when I opened the drawer there was a crushed pack of an empty cigarette pack, which would explain the battery for the smoke detector maybe? The hallway walls need to be cleaned as well. It's very outdated and needs a deep deep clean. Breakfast wasn't much and if you have tummy issues, you'll have to find somewhere else. I read a review from about a month ago about the front door being shattered. In case you're wondering, it's still like that. My mom was staying in the room across from us, I went to look at hers and it was pretty dirty too. I don't really care about it being outdated, it was the gross part that made me want to sleep in my...
Read moreWe checked in the afternoon of December 22,2016 first room we went into had so much cigarette smoke they changed rooms we requested downstairs then got moved upstairs. Carried all our things upstairs and with two kids one a infant is very difficult. Got into the room the smoke sector was ripped out of the ceiling, then we turned down the beds and seen blood on my sheets, hair all over the other bed and pee on my husbands bed with the hair. I walked downstairs asked if they had a housekeeper everyday I was told" sometimes they do sometimes the front desk does the cleaning if they can't get to it then it does not get done" my husband and I packed up our stuff after two rooms later we weren't trying another room carting everything back downstairs and after 14 hours of driving we were exhausted. We didn't even get a sorry, or offered a way to fix things. Horrible experience, then we had to drive another 45 minutes away to get another hotel!! AWFUL...
