We booked this as a "free" trip through Resort Vacation Certificates. It's not completely free, as you still pay taxes and resort fee, but it was not a terrible price. As for the resort itself, it has potential to be great. At the time of our stay, the tennis court and mini golf were being ripped up to renovate. The pool was new and very nice and clean. The bocci ball court could have used some TLC - weeding, more gravel. The fire pits are well stocked with wood, but no bucket or water source nearby so plan ahead. The game room was for pay only - this was a disappointment. At any other resort I've stayed, the games are free because you PAID a flat resort fee. The grounds are silt, so be prepared for huge pot holes getting around and your vehicle to be trashed. If you have a soda in the car, it will be flat by the time you get anywhere because the surrounding roads are just as bad.||||The condo itself was fairly nice. Two full bedrooms, two full bathrooms, a pull out couch, and half bath (toilet and sink). The condo comes with a binder with some good info, but in need of an update. Some of the places listed to stay had different hours, different menus, etc. So when we arrived, we were disappointed. The condo also has a sauna, jacuzzi, and fireplace. Our fireplace was on a timer and we had no idea. There were no instructions to turn it off. So I feel bad we had to call the after-hours emergency number to get it off. There were also limited instructions on the sauna: we turned on the timer and waited.....nothing. Turns out someone turned off the heat to it.... had to figure that out on our own. DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT FLUSH THE TOILET WHILE ANYONE IS IN THE SHOWER. I ended up with first degree burns. Not entirely the resort's fault, but for having 3 bathrooms, they should update the pipes so this doesn't happen, especially if someone has kids.||||The next few items are not a bad review, but tips for the traveler. The condo has 1 roll of TP per bathroom. Buy more before you arrive. I read this in another review and forgot. Also only 1 roll paper towels and no tissues. Take off your shoes at the door, or you will track the silt everywhere. Recycle is not available in the township, so separating is useless when it all goes in the same dumpster. The knobs on the jacuzzi spin both ways, so after you turn the water off, if you keep turning, water turns back on! But the jets did feel lovely. Get food, snacks, etc. before you reach the resort, as...
Read moreI've been to my fair share of internment camps but this resort takes it to a new extreme.
As I spent my first night I thought I'd have a try at the indoor sauna, biggest mistake of my life. I activated the steam and for the first few minutes it was a grand time. Then the propane leaked and began to fill the sauna room with gas. In my attempt to flee the room the door knob to the sauna was broken and I was trapped inside, the room became a gas chamber!
This place being in a remote mountain, there is no signal and the wifi was out for all of our stay making my attempts to call for help on deaf ears. As I lay gassed out on the floor of the sauna room that was still filling with steam and gas a friend was able to free me in the last second and undo the door handle. After shutting off the valve and airing out I went to bathe in the jacuzzi. This jacuzzi was branded by the one and only Lochead Martin, and upon activating the jets the water flew all over the room, rapidly changing for scorching hot to freezing cold.
The next day we still needed to make food so we fired up the oven, after the meal was done and turning off the oven it remained "on" out of our control. We needed to unplug the oven from the wall to stop the heat. The propane heater served no better as it would randomly shut off and freeze us in the night with no hope of restarting until morning.
During out time with the showers that have no privacy and broken water system, we began to notice a barking sound come out of the fridge and a loud banging from the dish washer that remained until the end of the trip. This mixed with the mixture of fecal matter and some ejaculatory discharge on the matress we discovered with a UV light it makes a clear no return for us in the future.
Avoid this recreation of the Holodomor...
Read moreWhen I was booking this resort I had trouble finding the information I needed to make an informed decision about it so this review is to provide that. It's remote, closest town is 20 min and it has a tiny grocery store. Closest main grocery and fast food is 30 min away. Closest box stores are an hour away. ||||Internet: The resort internet varies between strong to miniscule bandwidth. Lag happened when streaming and gaming. ||||Cell service: Verizon phone calls dropped and data took awhile to load a page. At&t worked OK. ||||The unit was a 2 bed 3 bath. It was clean and the inside was well maintained. There are dishes provided but they are an odd combination. The whole unit vibrated and there was a constant hum. We mentioned it and we were told they didn't know what caused it. The unit is heated with propane and it smelled like propane. Walking into the livingroom it was like walking into gas. We had to open the door for fresh air. The parking area was dirt and it was raining which turned it to mud. ||||The water is well water. It has the well water odor. The way it is hooked up only one person can have a shower or use the water at a time as the other will get scalded. ||||There is a pool and a small game room. ||||The staff is nice. The desk is operated 9-5. We arrived at 5:15 to find out we were considered a late check in. The office was already closed and an instruction letter was left for us. ||||I hope this helps you make a decision about your stay. If you like off the beaten path to unplug from the world it is...
