The GOOD was that we found a room out of desperation for less than $100 . Our road trip got cut short so driving 2600 miles ASAP due to illness in family. Arrive at 9 pm depart at 6 am. The room was clean enough for our short stay. Sheets were clean and there was a nice big table with two chairs a good TV, frig microwave , clerk was friendly and even said he would bring us a bag of ice we need to keep my meds chilled. We got ice the next morning before we left. The bed actually slept pretty good and there were plenty of pillows, although we brought our own. A noise blocking machine was available since the hotel sits right next to I-70. Shower curtain was clean and fresh.||BAD: the ice did not arrive. No ice machine available. We asked for it next morning before we left. No breakfast here either, but both of those are very minor. Towels were paper thin and coffee machine needed cleaning. A thorough cleaning in the room and carpet would be great.|The noise level was horrible but I hate those noise machines. They just add to the agony. But tired as we were from riding 700 miles, we slept…eventually. The door did not seem to lock well - very un-nerving since we were on the end. We left| in such a rush we forgot our expensive pillows. You’re welcome …enjoy…new for the trip as were the Egyptian cotton zippered covers. The housekeeper can have them BC we did not leave a tip in the envelope for her…nor did we take her mints. NO hot water at the sink! There was actually a neat picnic table on some pretty grass …didh’t see that until daylight. ||The UGLY: This is a very old property that has had a mini facelift. It actually looks better on the outside. Inside the furniture and bath counter, fixtures, etc have been abused. Hope the owner got damages from the many stains on the carpet, dented, scratched and busted counter. The shower head worked but looked like it had its ‘head’ knocked off. Shower tub looks dirty but it’s just the color. The room just had an old ‘help me’ feel to it. is grungy too harsh? ||ADVICE: Thoroughly clean the room, including shampoo carpet or better rip it up and put down a cheap hard surface floor! Buy some thick towels and washcloths! Forget the cheap soap and shampoo bottles Does anyone use that anymore. A waste! If it’s the law, get those refillable shower gel and shampoo dispensers. Put hooks up so that things can be hung in or near bathroom. A towel rod? Buy an ice maker. Take that antiquated old bedspread and replace with washable duvet covers and a good duvet. Change the name of the hotel to anything other than ‘70’. Maybe 70’s REST Lodge and put in some cute seventies decor….almost got it already. Put in a noise barrier or at least plant trees. Put up a billboard ‘that 70’s Experience! Make some money! |Not a horrible place to spend a quick night but one of those ‘oldie’ hotels that needs some TLC and DECOR. |This could be an ABOVE average lodge ! I would stay...
Read moreMy husband and I worked and lived there and the owners, who are brothers, are very paranoid and crazy. They watch everybody on camera and zoom in on them in their cars and then replay it later and watch it again. They decide while you are still in your car if they want to rent to you or not. Many racist names said in office. Commercial toilet bowl acid cleaner is used everyday, even while room is occupied. Even though it says on bottle use once a week and air room out. He also makes you sign a release saying that you allow them to use this while you are in the room when they clean. Both brothers carry knives, guns and mace. Not allowed to sit outside and relax and visit. They threw the only picnic table onto someone else's property in the woods. Have to keep blinds closed, doors locked and no guests. Security risk. People were being told not to talk to us or they would be thrown out. They throw people out if they don't like you. On our last day there, while we were gone, somehow my cellphone was messed with. All my pictures, my texts and my contacts were deleted. Wonder who did that? They don't honor the guests wishes of not being disturbed. They will enter your room whenever they think it needs to be cleaned. They will say well let me at least take your garbage out just so they can snoop. I have witnessed them deny a woman who was paying $200 a week her grandson to stay overnight on the weekend. He was two yrs old. All children under 15 stay free anyway. They refuse to refund deposits. They fast talk you so you get charged more. They call the cops numerous times. They sit in their office hours and hours watching the security cameras zooming in on everybody. The only time you will see them is when they are taking your money or kicking you out. They never paid me for cleaning rooms. I cleaned rooms for three months. They turned my air conditioner off and my cable and my internet when I reported them to the police and other agencies to make it hard on me. Bobby, the bigger of the two, will interrogate you and stare you down as you check in. Brian, the skinnier of the two, is very bossy and won't let you talk. He will talk over you. Both are anti-social and have no people skills. No motel skills except how to take your money. Do yourself a favor and don't checkin....
Read moreI’m going to start off by saying that from the start this place did violate ADA regulations and requested proof and certification of my service dog. When I provided the information they still did not accept it and said it had to be a “certification”. We desperately needed a place to stay and ending up trying to “prove” my service dog is a service dog and then ended up having to pay a fee for him as well. Certification is not required or provided for all service dogs and I think places like this need to educate themselves on laws and regulations because this is a lawsuit waiting to happen. This is illegal in all 50 states. This is from the Missouri state law “ Under the ADA, a public accommodation may not ask you questions about your disability or demand to see certification or other proof of your animal's training or status.”
The price point is extremely high for what this place gives you in return. I looked at pictures and reviews and upon arrival my room did not match or align with the pictures or reviews we saw on Google. I’m not sure why the room we got looks completely different from the rooms in the other reviewers photos. We paid $140 for the night- keep in mind a Best Western up the road was $140 as well. The room was very musty, and wasn’t cleaned well. (See photos for condition of room) I think this place could have a lot of potential if they put some time into regular deep cleanings, fresh paint and just more intentional cleanings between guests.
This location is right off the interstate which can be a pro or a con. Pro because it’s easy to access and get back on the road easily. Con because you hear 18 wheelers blasting by all night.
They have ample parking for trailers and anything you could be hauling which is nice. It seemed very safe. I wouldn’t call it shady or sketchy at all. My truck and trailer had plenty of room and were unbothered. Aside from the road noise the other guests were quiet and respectful.
The owner and his dog were friendly and customer service was good aside from breaking the law.
Wish I could have had a better, cleaner experience and been able to leave a high review like the others but unfortunately I didn’t experience...
