This week we stayed at the Gettysburg Campground in the historic Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. The entrance is a little hidden off the main road, but once you enter, you're greeted by an open spacious and friendly environment. The staff was friendly and welcomed us with smiles and open arms. They were quick to greet us at the campsite and helping us back into the spot with no problems. You can always find a staff member or two walking or driving their carts around the campground with smiles, waves, and asking if we are comfortable. The campground itself is beautifully, well-kept in the heart of Gettysburg. It's absolutely clean, friendly, and spacious with a nice playground, basketball court, pool, cart rentals, and open field for a picnic or simply playing around. The campground is also very pet friendly, which worked out great for us taking our dog glamping with us for the first time. Although it rained most of the time we were there, it was still a very nice place for some down time of peace and quiet. It gave us time to sit, relax, and talk as a family, but between myself and three teens who are active and can't sit still, it was a little less than exciting for us. However, it's a beautiful campground for those into nature and moments of serene relaxation. The campground is centrally located in the heart of Gettyburg Pennsylvania which gives American Historian and military enthusiasts a great spot to tour the Gettysburg National Battlefield. The history and scenic landscapes are sincerely worth while for all ages. If you're a family who takes pride in educational vacations for your kids, this is a great opportunity to take advantage of a historical moment in American history. The only issue I saw was that their store was small and didn’t offer much and the ice cream shop lacked options and appeal. The WiFi is slow and unsteady, but that’s typical of many campgrounds and the cable is not high-definition, so don’t expect anything crisp and clear. There were also no activities on weekdays for Summer family camping, which made a weekday stay a little unexciting as Gettysburg itself does not offer much for children and family vacations. The town instead attracts a lot of older couples who are into Civil War, American History, and ghost tours. Still, it was a nice little getaway for the week and we were able to learn a lot from the surrounding American patriotism. I would revisit the campground again for another relaxing weekend, but I would not recommend it for those families looking for a more exciting vacation adventure. All in all, Gettysburg Campground is beautifully, well-kept in the heart of Gettysburg. Clean, friendly, and spacious with a playground, basketball court, pool, cart rentals, and open field. Pet friendly with free WiFi and Cable.

Our Halloween weekend trip with just the BOYS – my two SONS and my neighbor and HIS SON– got off to a PERFECT start. Packing up the camper was quick and efficient, the 3.5-hour drive was pleasant, and arriving at the property 15 minutes ahead of schedule was hassle-free. There was ample parking near the office for check-in, which was convenient. However, my enthusiasm waned when I pulled into spot 22. The spot was designated for a 36-foot trailer, and I have a 35-foot trailer with three slide-outs, two on one side and one on the other. To make it work, I had to carefully maneuver the trailer to one side, ensuring there was enough clearance for the one slide-out to the utilities and enough room to relax on the other side. It seemed like everyone else around me managed to get their tow vehicles comfortably beside their trailers, which left me feeling a bit cramped since I was unable to. My major issue, though, was an encounter with an employee I'll affectionately call "Karen." She confronted me and accused me of speeding within the campsite. I found this quite perplexing, as it took me a good 20 minutes to maneuver out of the campsite due to the Halloween festivities that brought a lot of people around. I would never speed, especially with my group of three boys and two adults on board and having two daughters at home. Later, I even found out from one of my sons that a fellow male camper confronted Karen and stated that I was never speeding. Thank you fellow camper! Despite this Karen encounter, we managed to have a great weekend overall. We didn't spend too much time at the campsite, as we were mostly out exploring the rich historical offerings in the area. It's just a shame that this one incident marred an otherwise enjoyable weekend. FYI, the ride home we stopped at a service plaza to fuel up. This lady parked her car at the only fuel pump I could get to and went inside for 20 minutes..... Response to reply.... I was not speeding! Dash cam to prove it and fellow campers to back me up! I have kids, and I'm a firefighter! I DO NOT SPEED unless it's an emergency. FYI I was on my way to get more candy for the kids.

A very nice campground to stay at in Gettysburg. Very close to all the Gettysburg attractions. Majority of the spots are nice and shady with W/E hook ups, fire ring and picnic table. I would like to rant about the immaculate, air conditioned bath house…just lovely! Nice and clean and well maintained. The best bath house we have seen on our road trip. There’s a cool creek next to the campground. They have a really nice playground for the children and a large seating area next to it. All lit up at night with beautiful string lights. Mini golf spot, arcade games room, nice pool, cabins to rent and let’s talk about their camping store…it had everything you could possibly want in there! And I’m not joking! From camping stuff to little swimmers for toddlers and Gettysburg merch. Just everything! BONUS - they have an ice cream parlor! Ahhhh! Good selection of flavours with your choice of a waffle/sugar cone or cup. Deeeelightful! Staff are so friendly and John (I think that’s his name) is hilarious! We felt so welcomed. Thank you. Overall, this is a campground that has everything you need. If I could give this place a ten, I would. We’ll be back next year.

We stayed 2 weeks in this park. Overall it was nice and peaceful with Marsh Creek gurgling right beside the campground and a neat little path from the tent camp site area to the spot where the old grist mill used to be. Nice little putt putt golf course. No designated dog park, but dog stations set up for convenient doggy waste disposal. Lots of dogs and dog walkers. Seemed like a great family place.

I can NOT, however, give this place a high rating for the following reasons:

  1. We pull a 40 ft 5th wheel and paid over $660.00 for their "premium" hookup. Pull through space was a very small rocky pad and the next space over was designed so that the neighboring camper parked flip-flop to us. In the very small shared grass yard, there were 2 picnic tables and 2 fire rings. Our neighbors were nice and sat outside most of the time, but there went our 2 weeks of peaceful little campground.
  2. when we got there, we were left on our own to set up. The grass in the little shared "yard" outside our door was covered with about 2" of straw. Even with our yard mat laid out, that straw walked in with us and my house began to look like a straw field (NOT GOOD for the vacuum system!). Rather than complain, I got out my rake and blower and started to clean up the mess. The grumpy owner suddenly showed up and fussed at me because that 2" layer of straw was protecting his grass. Weird because the majority of the spaces is that large campground did not have any protective straw. I offered to spread the straw back out and he very angrily told me that since I'd already done most of the raking and blowing (I.e., messed up his grass), he might as well pick up the piles I'd already raked up and then he had two guys on golf carts load up the straw piles into the back of their golf carts and , in multiple trips, haul the straw away. He did not offer to clean up the straw that I had not raked. 3). We have dish system on the roof of our camper. We immediately discovered that we couldn't pick up our Dish Network. My husband talked to Mr Cranky and he said something like "oh yeah, the dish won't pick up in the premium spots." We had to plug into the campground cable system that picked up local channels and very little else.
  3. I mentioned the small spaces and being face-to-face across the yard from the neighbors? The whole campground must have been designed by the guy who invented the sardine can. With Gettysburg right down the road the weekends were so packed and the campers so close together it was miserable. Again, so much for our peaceful 2 weeks of camping.
  4. When one set of neighbors left, camp crew came to mow our shared little yard (mindful to NOT mow up the remaining straw) the worker dragged our picnic table over to the rock pad in the next space......and left it there!!!

With all that, I still have to give this place a middle ground review because the rest of the staff was very nice, Marsh Creek was nice, it was a good group and family place, it was right in the middle of the Civil War history we came to experience, etc. For me, I'm glad our two week...

Worst experience by far. We loved our last stay here in 2022. So we came back for our 2023 year trip and was hoping for at least a few more trips here. DONT WASTE YOUR TIME.. Park employees are all rude. As we were in general store one employee got off phone and complained about a guest complaining of speeding vehicles through the park. All employees laughed and agreed with them about it. If you need anything in general store. Only 1 of the very many employees seems to want to help you. The SPEEDING VEHICLES!!!!! MAJOR ISSUE. If you have young children who like to ride bikes I do not recommend. My children do not get left unattended when riding, so when my 8 year old tried to get off the road for a car she almost didn't have time. He came flying.. no I'm not exaggerating when I say at least 20 in a 6.5mph halfway through the park by the playground. IN FRONT OF THE MAIN PARK ENTRANCE OFFICE. No one seemed to care when I voiced my opinion. Staff members drove around campground going almost just as fast in gulf carts but couldn't even stop people coming in and making them slow down. We camped directly at camp entrance excited to be close to amenities. NEVER AGAIN. Firstly main entrance is a DEADLY spot to camp with kids. You can not cross the road to get to said amenities (golf, swimming, dog park, general, store. ) cars fly in there so fast off of main highway. Noone cared when bringing it to there attention. Was told they would try to get it under control and yet did not see one employee trying to slow anyone down. At least investing in speed bumps would help. The park!!! Good luck letting your young children play at the park. Older people by my opinion looked to be (17-26) that acted belligerent and no respect for younger children when kids wanted to play at park. Staff said would handle. Yet people remained playing on kid toys. So in my opinion we arrived on Thursday. If it's a MUST HAVE STAY do it during week. AVOID WEEKENDS. I'm not one to complain about a campground. But this place is not safe nor fun for kids on a weekend. Will be trying different locations in area to see what else is out there. Not worth the risk. Its a big attraction area with many campgrounds. If I did recommend anything it's back spots where Noone is camping would be safest place in entire park or camping during the week. Seems as if they want your money but not your safety. Goodluck to anyone with future endeavors at...
