Owner is a loose cannon.
I drove a relative down from up north, arriving at the park in the early evening. An hour later I was talking to police.
I was returning to the park from grabbing a hamburger with a pickup truck following me closely. I turned into the park and keyed in the code. The truck followed me into the park close behind "tailgating" in without entering the code. I drove into the park and made three turns with the truck right behind me. What are the odds. Naturally I wasn't going to drive to our unit, and I didn't know any other place to go. I stopped and called 911 before heading to the exit.
As I was stopped, he approached me with empty hands; hoping for a friendly or at least calm reasonable response, I cracked the window and he said who the h... are you? Dispatcher for 911 was on the call. I said "why are you following me?" and he said - get this - that I brake-checked him in the park. Brake-checked?! The speed limit is 10 mph. He claimed to be the owner and expected me to believe it. I closed the window and left. I parked out front and waited for police.
He drove out and parked so close to me I couldn't open the door. Then moved farther away. The police arrived, talked to him first, then said to me they said it sounded like a misunderstanding. He thought I was driving erratically (admits he was following me). I said he can claim anything he wants, but he was following me, he entered the park without inputting the code, and I was inside legally; he was not.
They suggested we might try to clear the air so I got out to talk to him. Before I could say anything he shrieked at me that I was lucky he was keeping an eye on things inside the park. Then said that I cut him off when I turned into the park. I said "you mean you were passing me in the right turn lane? Well if I cut you off I apologize. " He said "You DID cut me off."
"Again, sir." I said, "I don't think I did but if I did I apologize".
Then he said I failed to fill out a visitor's card. At this point I had only been in town 90 minutes or so.
When I had a chance I said "sir, if I could suggest, all you had to do was stop and input the code for the gate instead of following me in, like you tell your residents to do, and I would know you belonged there. I wouldn't have been suspicious, and we wouldn't be having this discussion".
He shouted "Don't tell me how to run my business"
The police were very professional. They finished and I left to get a pack of gum and relax. I came back thirty minutes later and turned into the driveway. There wasn't another car in sight when I turned in, but instantly his truck was behind me.
I entered the security code. Again, he followed me inside the park without entering the code himself. Attitude.
The park is NOT lucky to have him keeping an eye on things. He is a big man and young. Big men don't have to shout, and it's likely to cause trouble one day.

Read moreFirst visit. My dad has lived here for about 15 years. It looks like most people keep their lots well maintained. People were walking & riding their bikes around. One thing I don't understand is the fact that dog walking is not permitted anymore, because some owners would not clean up after their dogs. That really sucks. Walking the dog is great exercise for both owner & dog. Considering this is a 55 and over park that was the only regular exercise either got for some. Why do some lazy people have to ruin things for...
