My husband and I took a trip in late April to spend some quality time before welcoming our first baby. We have traveled to Florida quite a bit, but never to the Hillsboro/Boca Raton area. We typically stay in AirBNB’s, but with the prices being significantly higher than I remembered- we decided to branch out. We both couldn’t be happier with that decision. From the moment we arrived at the hotel it was such a pleasant experience. Things I feel that are most important to mention. 1. The location is PERFECT. Within driving distance of malls, and shopping centers, and parks, restaurants and honestly pretty much anything you might need. 2. Valet is mandatory. However, if you financially plan ahead, it’s $25 a day. They are so incredibly kind. They didn’t care how often we went out. You request your car via cellphone, and they bring your car to the main door at your desired time. Again…every single valet staff was exceptionally kind, down to opening the door to the cars for us. 3. The amenities were better than I had expected. Of course there were negative reviews that made me hesitant to book, but honestly most of them were not our personal experience. The hotel has a private beach & a pool. The beach is directly out from the hotel restaurant. Not much walking at all. Additionally they provided beach chairs, and beach towels for free. We packed our own towels but also used some of the towels from the hotel. On the days we got extra sandy. The hotel also offers umbrellas, and I’m not sure if they cost extra - but they were very nice & the hotel staff come to assist you in staking it into the ground. 4. The complementary breakfast was decent. There was a day or two they offered scrambled eggs but primarily it was just toast, bagels and oatmeal with some cereal options. Juice, coffee and water all free. They did have a breakfast menu to order off of. We planned ahead and purchased some fruit and protein items when we first arrived to accommodate for the protein.5. This is a personal recommendation, hit up a dollar tree & buy yourself a broom and dust pan for $4 and you can sweep your room daily - because sand does get everywhere when you spend time on the beach. Or you can pay for daily room service, we chose not to do that and clean up after ourselves. I Just want to put so much emphasis on the fact that the negative reviews almost swayed my decision in booking, but we are so thankful for our time & for all of the amazing staff we met. We will certainly be returning, and next time bringing our daughter. Can’t think of a certain thing I would change about this hotel. Many complaints of things being pricey, but for all you get and little travel you have to do it’s so...

We stayed at the Hillsboro for three nights. It is in a safe, nice location. More of a residential area than commercial like Deerfield Beach. There aren’t any stores/restaurants in the immediate area but is a quick drive, bike or walk down 1.7 miles to Deerfield Beach where there are restaurants, shops, bars etc. There is also a shuttle van that gives rides at night from Deerfield Beach pier area to the hotel. There were LOTS of people out walking/biking/running daily in the area (with nice sidewalks all the way down Hillsboro Beach area). The only negative for me was that the hotel is an older hotel that is a little run down and is somewhat of the motel style where you walk on outside to get into your rooms. There is an elevator up to each floor. The actual rooms were very nicely decorated with stylish furnishings and finishes. They had been updated and were clean. Our room had floor to ceiling windows which was a nice feature. The beds were comfortable. The bathroom was updated and nice. No carpeting in rooms. Our room had a balcony which was a nice feature. Our room also had a large smart tv which we didn’t use but was nice. They had a great valet service which was available 24 hrs a day ($25 fee per day to keep your car there but totally worth it). Note: You can only valet your car at this hotel. There is no parking. I liked that the valet people were there 24 hrs a day because it acted as a security feature as well (being that it wasn’t a secure building). Even though the area seemed very safe. The valet staff were SO NICE and accommodating., Restaurant was expensive but the food was good. They have a breakfast service which includes getting a beach chair/umbrellla for the day with the meal for $15 per person. We didn’t do this so I’m not sure how the food was. But it’s a nice option to be able to rent beach chairs/umbrellas for the day. You can also just rent them for the day without the meal as well for the same price I believe. The restaurant staff was very nice too. The view was spectacular being right on the beach. The beach was great and was a private beach which is so nice. No rif raf like Deerfield Beach down the road. Pool looked nice but we didn’t spend any time there. They provided pool towels that could be used at the beach as well. The service at the hotel was great from everyone like I stated above. Everyone was VERY FRIENDLY and accommodating. It was a very busy hotel with a lot of people staying there while we were there and lots of people coming and going. Lots of kids there and some people even had their dogs (pet friendly). I would...

Overall, we had a good experience as the location and rooms are great at the Hillsboro Sonder Hotel. However, there are a few points I would like to mention, just so people get the right information before they book. We did encounter an issue with the restaurant as we felt putting an extra 20% on top of every bill, it's kind of misleading. Also concerning then restaurant, we were made aware that a person travelling with us had not paid for their drink, which was untrue and it was quite upsetting for the person that had actually paid to be accused of not having paid their bill. In general, in the restaurant is average. Very small portions and at quite extortionate prices, a cocktail for $25 (in a plastic cup) is also quite steep for the establishment that serves it. The restaurant manages the beach chairs and umbrellas which are 15 dollars each for the day. The hotel brochure in the room says there are no pets and no parties allowed, and there should not be any children unsupervised at the pool. But none of that actually gets enforced as there are dogs in the hotel and we have observed parties at the pool by large families bringing their own food and drink, which is apparently all against the rules of the hotel. There were also children unsupervised and quite rowdy at.the pool which did not make for a good experience as hotel guest. Having said that the facilities are nice. The beds are very comfortable and we had a large suite with ocean view which was very convenient. However, a larger kitchen space would have been really good. There's no cutlery and no crockery in the suite, apart from take away cups in the kitchen. It is more a space where you can make a cup of coffee or heat something in a microwave, the fridge space is extraordinary though, because there are 2 fridges, one in the bedroom and one in the kitchen area. Reception staff are friendly and you can grab beach or pool towels any time of the day next to reception without deposit. A big positive I would like to point out is the valent service. Yes, it is $25 a day to valet your car, however, the service is impeccable. You order your car via an app and without fail the car appears at the time that you reserved it. With the air conditioning on, so you actually step into a cool car. All valet staff were very friendly and extremely helpful, and I can't praise them enough. The house keeping service ordered via an app is a bit hit and miss, I would recommend to check with reception whether it has actually been added to their schedule. Overall a good experience and I...

This is my second time staying at a Sonder sponsored venue. I must admit the atmosphere, location and pricing all play a factor to enjoying my reservations here. Lets start off with some basics: Parking: There is no street parking or self parking option. Be prepared to pay a daily valet fee of $25. This is actually a bit lower compared to some other hotels that easily charge $55 or $70 a day for valet. Depending on how many days your staying it could add up but there is absolutely no other place to park on the A1A anyway so you might as well add this expense to your travel fees. Staff is extremely friendly and accommodating to your needs and everything seems to run fluidly on a daily basis at the facility. Rooms: I had a one bedroom king and I was extremely comfortable from the moment I walked in. The room had a great amount of space needed for me and my belongings. The comfort of the bed was beyond my expectations and slept throughout the night with no issues. What I mainly enjoyed the peace and quiet I got every night and/or every morning. The ocean breeze was probably the loudest thing you can hear and such a relaxing calming vibe. Internet: Speeds were great! With high speed WiFi throughout the entire hotel. I did not notice a dip in speeds in my room or outside by the beach front. Coverage overall was incredible for my remote workers. Improvements: They have coffee machines inside each room but failed to cover the basics of having such a device inside. With no creamer and/or sugars your stuck with black coffee unless you want to go ask for some supplies at front desk which im sure they would be happy to provide. It’s simple, if you’re going to have a coffee machine inside rooms cover the basics around coffee prep. As a hotel I’m sure there are many people who forget toiletries. I was one of those who forgot my travel toothpaste and unfortunately the hotel didn’t provide any besides a bar of soap, body lotion, body wash, shampoo & conditioner. The closet space provided could have accommodated an ironing board and an iron but was a missed detail. I look forward to always staying at Sonder sponsored facilities. They have an amazing reputation with their hotels and I really enjoy the properties touch to aesthetics. Book here in confidence if you fully understand what you are prepared to hurdle.

Overall, we had a great week at Hillsboro powered by Sonder. The location is in a very nice and quiet area. It is about a 10 minute drive to restaurants which was nice for us to be away from the hustle and bustle of spring breakers. A continental breakfast was provided by the restaurant on site. It consisted of coffee, juice, oatmeal, apples, assorted cereal packs, toast, bagels and muffins or banana bread. I think adding items such as fruit and a protein would be a nice balance. Keeping the breakfast properly stocked until close would keep people happier. We only had drinks and one lunch from the restaurant which was good but overpriced for a blt sandwich and quesadilla. A tip/service fee is already included in all restaurant purchases. Beach chairs and umbrellas were provided at no additional fee which was a wonderful amenity. We were in a superior room which felt small but that was expected. I would get a larger room with a balcony next time. The towel bars in our bathroom were installed behind the bathroom door which made the small space feel even smaller as the door opens in front of the sink. I’d recommend moving those to the open wall across from the toilet. The room could have used a good wipe down of doors, knobs and all surfaces. Overall, the room was clean enough but had room for improvement. The room only has a bathroom mirror and does need a floor length mirror but space is an issue for that. There is not housekeeping unless requested at this property. We were aware of this before our arrival. We ran out of a few items during our stay. Fresh towels and extra toiletries were provided to us upon request with no issues. Valet is required and $25 a day. I would prefer to park myself and save the money but all valet staff were great and very friendly. When payment was due at the end of our stay for valet I was given the option to add tip at that time. That is how we tipped instead of tipping cash at every pickup. All the staff at this property were so kind and helpful. The property grounds including the pool area were clean and well kept. The best thing about the property is the ease of access to the beach and beautiful view. It doesn’t get easier than this to visit the beach. We would definitely stay again. Thanks for a great week!
