My Mom and I recently stayed for two nights at the Yankee Trail Motel located on Route 3 in Holderness New Hampshire, across the road from White Oak Pond, and near Squam Lake. This 10-unit motel is a unique place in that it has all the positives of a simple motel— convenient pull-off from the road, all rooms on the street level, the ease of backing your car right up to your door, easy access to the outside. But do not be fooled. This little gem brings the idea of a motel to a whole new level. Number one, and hugely important, the rooms are impeccably clean. I can honestly say that this was the cleanest lodging that I have ever stayed at. There was nary a speck of dust or grime in our room, thanks to the woman behind the scenes, Beth, who cleans and changes over the room after each party leaves.||Our spacious room had everything you could want- a place to hang your keys next to the door, hooks to hang your jackets on the other side of the door, little shelves to place your belongings, a comfortable bed, plenty of fresh towels, a refrigerator, a Keurig coffee maker with plenty of coffee supplies and a little bistro-like table and 2 chairs just outside of the room where we could sit, drink early morning hot coffee, enjoy the mountain air and fall foliage, and plan the day. The obvious care and attention to detail and design by Charlene and Kevin, the owners of this motel, is apparent throughout the whole establishment. ||Included in the cost of the stay was a made-to-order breakfast in a separate restaurant, just steps from our cozy room. Colleen the chef is ready and able to whip up anything you could imagine- from omelettes with cheese and vegetable filling to French toast or pancakes, bacon, sausage and real homefries! This meal was hearty and delicious. ||Although closed when we visited in the Fall, there is an outdoor pool. There is a fire pit which would be lovely to sit by , enjoy a cool evening and feel the warmth of the flames. The owners are developing a walking path on the 10.5 acre property behind the motel. They are full of ideas, and apparently are always maintaining and improving this well-loved slice of paradise.|I highly recommend the Yankee...
Read moreMy family and I were at the end of our vacation but wanted to stay in the lakes area for one last night. We had no reservations and were looking for somewhere to stay for the night. We pulled into the parking lot of the Yankee Trail Motel and we were greeted by the nicest woman who informed us the property was run by herself and her husband and that they did have a room available for the night. She brought us to the room to turn on the AC and make sure we liked it before checking us in. The room had a slight musty smell when first opened, but it was gone before we returned after check in. As she checked us in she talked about her family including the newest little member. She showed us their small breakfast restaurant on site where she waitresses and her husband is the chef. We were informed of the ice machine, vending machines, pool, horseshoes, pingpong table and a nature trail on the property that were available for guests.
The doors and windows in the room were so unique and much of the furniture was older but in amazing condition, much nicer than the cheaply made pressed wood of most furniture made now. The beds were clean, firm but not uncomfortable and the sheets were soft. There was a flat screen tv and a newer AC in the room. Wifi was available on the property but not a very usable signal in the room, but that didn't bother us at all. If you needed to look up directions or a place for dinner stepping outside I was able to get a signal. There are quite a few restaurants in the area and it's a fairly short drive to Weir's beach.
I must say that this chance stop was one of our best choices during our vacation. We were made to feel so comfortable it felt more visiting grandparents than staying at a motel.
Wether or not you stay here I highly recommend stopping in for breakfast, (the restaurant is open to the public) the pancakes were the BEST I've ever had!!
Thank you so much for your hospitality, We are looking forward to staying here again the next time...
Read moreWe just spent 2 wonderful nights at the Yankee Trails Motel! We were in for 2 concerts at the Bank of New Hampshire Pavilion (approx. 25 mins away).
Kevin checked us in and he was wonderful! Check in is at the small building to the left of the motel. You ring the doorbell on the RING camera and they talk to you and meet you at your room. Kevin was super friendly and explained all about the room, keys etc.
Easy pull up parking was fantastic also and we felt very safe! Room was spacious and beautiful! All re-done and sparking! Floors are great, chairs comfortable, lots of places to set your items down on. Great lighting with dimmers, fridge/coffee/microwave all great! AC was outstanding!!! Kept us very cool!! Lots of electrical plugs and USB ports also! The bathroom I could talk about all day! Prolly the best shower I have ever had a hotel/motel etc ever! All renovations are just spot on! Heater works great as well! Beds are very comfortable and large king size pillows! I swear they know me!! Just my jam! Very quiet also which was great! TV was good channel wise, it’s a bit small but honest who cares! Wi-Fi was great also! Bottom line: you NEED the Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi call enabled on your phone to make calls or use data. There is absolutely no cell service with either AT&T or Verizon! Not at all the fault of Yankee Trails Motel and they have made sure the Wi-Fi is great to help that!
Overall 5 Stars from us! If your looking at this motel, stop looking you have found your next...
