I cannot say enough amazing things about Brigittte and the Foxfield Inn. From the beginning stages of our trip to the very last interaction, my husband and I had a lovely experience. Brigitte was kind over the phone and answered every question I had, from directions, description of the rooms, activities to do nearby and picking a great dinner restaurant for our anniversary celebration. We ended up picking the Hunt Room, it was way more spacious than we expected. It had a jacuzzi tub for 2, that comes with bath salts that smell amazing and candles. The fireplace was super easy to use, simply turning on and off with one remote control button. We bought a berries and bubbles package and it was the perfect way to start our trip. Brigitte did a wonderful job at making the chocolate covered strawberries with white drizzle on top. Our sparkling wine was chilled in a bucket, perfect! The linens were soft and cozy. The space is clean and kept up with really well. There is a common snack and drink bar. Both mornings Brigitte served a fresh and delicious 3 course breakfast to include coffee, tea, OJ and water. She let us know about âSelect Registryâ which is a similar association to AAA ratings for hotels but for B&Bâs. Every B&B that is a member needs to pass certain standards and go through an inspection to be awarded this distinction. My husband and I had always stayed at Hilton or Marriott properties, we will for sure use Select Registry properties more often! We explored the Glass House Winery, downtown Charlottesville mall, the Rotunda and the grounds at The University of Virginia, had dinner at Milan Indian Restaurant, and The Ivy Inn. All excellent choices, however our favorite on food and service was Milan. If you like Indian food please do yourself a favor and try it out! On our way out we purchased the Comphy sheets and cover for our own home, as they were irresistible. Lastly I want to mention this property has Tesla and EV chargers, which my husband and I always look for when traveling. I hope this review helps any of you wanting to get away from every day life and spend a romantic weekend together. So many wineries, artisan shops, mountains views and history to see! Thank you Brigitte and team for making our anniversary weekend a memorable experience. We will see you again very...
Read moreWe and our friends had not returned to Charlottesville together (from NJ and TN) in 18 years! When we were contemplating where we would stay, I reminded our friends how they had raved about the Foxfield Inn when attending our reunion in 2007. We wanted to try it out and our friends wanted to take a trip down memory lane. What a fantastic decision!|From the comprehensive tour Brigitte offered upon our arrival, to the pristine, spacious and comfortable rooms, to the beautiful wooded property, the incredible breakfasts and generous snack area with fridge, coffee and tea......she has thought of everything. This is not a sterile, typical, cookie cutter accommodation. The four of us have traveled domestically and internationally for work and pleasure and Foxfield felt like home....except we didn't have to do any of the work involved when having houseguests. Thanks for a wonderful stay!!!! |Touches that I will not forget: |1) We especially enjoyed sitting on the patio with special wines we had brought with us for a happy hour each night, before leaving for dinner. |2) A charger available for our car! Tesla and non-Tesla chargers are on site!|3) Such amazing thoughtfulness in dealing with my celiac disease dietary restrictions. Not only did every breakfast include substitutions that were lovely and delicious, but Brigitte had baked gluten-free cookies that she left in our room, as at the snack area, there were cookies I could not enjoy. (They were among the most delicious cookies I have ever eaten, by the way). This hospitality was just so touching, when I am accustomed to 'doing without' wherever we go. Thank you, Brigitte! |4) The website is one of the best I have seen for lodging. It is very thorough and allowed us to ask Brigitte the right questions about where we wanted to take 'nature walks'. We recommend the very convenient Ivy Creek area! It is historical and peaceful and 10 minutes away.|5) We did not use the fire pit or hot tub, but how amazing to have them at our disposal. |6) The large bathtub with jets. A wonderful touch and so rare. |7) Brigitte sharing the GF...
Read moreWe were touring VA battlefields so we stayed only one night, but wished we could have settled in for the week. Kathryn and Dan are amazing hosts. They greeted us at the door, gave us a tour, and offered us a glass of wine to drink as we unpacked. We stayed in the Audubon Room, which is just as inviting in person as it is in the photo on the website. The room is large with a comfortable chair and loveseat (well-lit for settling in to read) and a remote-controlled gas fireplace. The bathroom is HUGE and well-supplied with toiletries. Best of all, the room colors and bird paintings were so calming and warm, which we really appreciated as an evening storm and dropping temperatures descended.
As another reviewer noted, âthis beautiful inn is the definition of good taste.â Itâs also the definition of comfort. Kathryn and Dan have thought of every detail to make their guests feel welcome. From the always available coffee/tea and snack area near the bedrooms (do NOT pass up the amazing chocolate chip cookies) to the lens cleaners and robes in the bathroom, everything one could need during a stay seems to be readily available. Our bed was incredibly comfortable âwonderfully firm mattress with sheets so soft that Iâm ordering some for home.
Kathrynâs breakfast was delicious and a great way to start our day. She had emailed us to find out about dietary restrictions and preferences and kindly tailored my husbandâs breakfast to account for his low-acid diet. The coffee was wonderful (the most important part of breakfast!) and we thoroughly enjoyed talking with Dan while we ate.
We would love to return someday and will certainly recommend the Foxfield Inn to our...
