Since moving to North Louisiana we've not found as much happiness this close locally as we do at the Lake. It's beautiful and clean except for a piece of litter here or there which we pick up anyway. The staff has always been Uber helpful and delightful. We've never been bothered by guest or staff. The site map is clear and useful. Every spot we've ever booked has been nice. We used one of their Tentrr spots recently and absolutely fell in love. We go every chance we get and even took a big family vacay there last summer during covid and it made everything feel normal and ok. We love the wildlife along the trail. Lots of deer. I wish we'd see more birds though. It doesn't seem like there are ever many out there. I don't personally disc golf but the course looks super fun. It's never a hassle to visit just book early because they are usually busy. The lake is nice and most boats are respectful though a few will play music way to loud but I've never had anyone abuse the quiet hours. This past weekend one group had a small Yorkie looking dog that yapped the entire time and they never had the courtesy to try and get it to be even less Yappy. But that's their rudeness not the park. The scenery is gorgeous. The restrooms and showers are always clean when we've been. The beach is a fun day trip if you don't feel...
Read moreThe reason I'm giving this one star is because of the cleanliness of the cabins. The worst part was the fact that they don't clean the blankets for the beds before people stay there. When we arrived, the cabins seemed nice. Not that clean, but overall pretty good. The blankets for the beds though, had been used before we arrived. There was some mysteriously creamy white crust dried around different areas of the blanket placed for the master bedroom / loft area. There were also long blonde Hairs found on the blanket. We ended up using the white sheets to sleep for the 2 nights we were there (I hope to god they washed those at least). Everything else about the park was ok. The beach was decent for a lake, not too crowded. Kayaking was fun. The trails are not well laid out. Most of the trails are confusing when trying to find which path to take, or the path intended to take is overgrown by nature that you have to take a different path. We still managed to have fun, made the most of the trip, and just wish the staff would take more care of certain aspects of the...
Read moreThe park itself is always in pristine condition. Lake Claiborne shines above all other LA State Parks I've been to. I've both camped and rented cabins. The camping bathrooms are always clean. There are washers and dryers on site. They also house 2 of the top disc golf courses in the state. Long tees (blues) have concrete tee boxes. Whitetail is a must play of you only have time for 1. The course is a bit difficult. With a lot of elevation, firm but fair OBs and precariously placed baskets, there's no shortage of danger. The scenery keeps your mind off of your racing heartbeat, but do your best to keep it in the fairway. They go in easy, but they don't want to come out! Dogwood is the newest course. Named after the dogwood trees that are located all around the park. It also has concrete tees on the longs. While this one can be considered rougher, some find it more...
