I lived in Homer once but had never stayed at this hotel before. I was able to check in quickly and the lady who handled my accommodations was quite friendly. Given room 108, I found the room to be quaint and clean. Yes, the decor makes you feel as if you have stepped back in time but the room rate reflects the same. If you are a big fan of television, you will not be happy with the little tube TV provided (about 19 inch) with at least three buttons missing and a non working remote. The best feature during my stay at Linder's was the awesome water pressure and good supply of HOT water... and also the amazing air conditioner!||||I appreciated the added convenience of a microwave and refrigerator. Too bad there wasn't a small coffee pot too! However, the room is very dark unless you give up privacy and open the curtains and blinds. There were two lamps but only one worked in our room. There was a lamp by the desk and it did not work. There is no light on the ceiling over the sleeping area of the room.||||After 9 pm, the place is closed - you cannot rent a room and there is no one to help you with towels or other needs. We were given two bath towels which equaled three bath towels, one washcloth, and one hand towel, and were told this was the maximum allowed. I understand people steal these items but with four in the room, this was quite an inconvenience. ||||As for the (currently Mexican) restaurant next door, I did not try their cuisine. I also did not hear the traffic over the sound of my TV, which was left on low for noise all night. Overall, I was okay with the room and would stay there again - if necessary. I paid $55 for the room and considering the accommodations, I feel this is about $5-10 too much. There are only two hotels in Homer.||||(*I read the other reviews and I did not see any creepy-crawlies. Having lived there in the past, I don't even think there are...
Read moreThis is the only motel in Homer, LA, a small town on the Ark/La border. To say it is dated, would almost be a compliment. Nothing in the rooms matched (furniture, drapes, etc.). Everything looked like Circa 1950 or 1960. The dark wood wall paneling looked like parquet flooring. There were gaping holes around the window a/c unit and at the door threshold. The TWO towels were so threadbare that you could almost read the newspaper thru them. The soap was 1 x 2" in size (yep, I measured it). The 17" TV was relatively new and did have satellite service and there was a small refrigerator and microwave in the room, but no coffeemaker. The motel is located at a busy intersection so we listened to log trucks and tankers all night long. The only plus is that they have plenty of vacancies - ha!! Actually, the front desk was very accommodating and allowed us to bring our Yorkie with us. The weird thing is that the room charge was $49.95 with no additional taxes!! However, one of us stood "watch" while the other one showered because the entire property was reminiscent of Alfred Hitchcock's Bates Hotel. Believe it or not, we had to stay there 10 days while a family member was hospitalized. The next closest lodging was Minden, LA which is a 30 minute drive or El Dorado, AR, another 30 minute drive. Pretty...
Read moreDue to circumstance, I stayed at the Linder Motor Lodge. I had the pleasant experience of spending a month in Homer, La. Initially I rented a bed and breakfast in Minden, La but didn't like the drive to and from Minden/Homer each day.||||I decided to take a chance, on a one week stay at the Linder Motor Lodge. Admittedly the décor could use some updating. However, I observed no signs of rodents or other pest. The room was clean, staff friendly, environment safe, quiet and cost for entire week, $280 give or take. Compared to $140 plus per night for a B & B or Hotel.||||The hotel management and staff were very friendly, even referring to me by name (nice touch). Very accommodating.||||Most importantly, I slept comfortably every night and felt safe.. ||||As an added bonus, since the room was $280 "per week" vs. the $140 per night at the B&B or Hotel, I not only saved my client money but I also wasn't required to check out and bring luggage home each week. Leaving luggage in the room over the weekend also saved my client an additional $25 per flight/$50 per week in excess baggage charges.||||Summary, clean room, good price, friendly staff, cost savings and bug/rodent free. I recommend this place. It's...
