Nice clean room and nice home, beautiful grounds. I was told the room I booked was given to one of her other guests upon arrival.
I tried to book horseback riding upon checking in, but the lady gave excuses then gave me a couple places out of town (I drove an hour out of my way to stay here and this was a big part of the reason). (She had told me it wasn’t advanced horseback riding when I asked- to which I said, I haven’t been since I was a kid- (but she wasn’t open to providing that service.) She was immediately asking me questions when I arrived about which way I came in - (I’m tired from the drive- just wanted to get to my room) then tells me I should’ve followed her husband’s directions..(which really didn’t make me feel welcome from the beginning.) I felt like I was slightly interrogated then sort of put down.
Loose German shepherds running up barking were a little startling at times. I’m a dog lover but this particular breed is not my favorite because they can be temperamental.
Guests next to my room kept me up until after 130am while getting drunk outside my door/pool area. At one point they dropped and broke a glass outside my door which awakened the dogs who came running out (And owner(s)- so they knew these guests were making a ruckus but didn’t regulate the situation). By 130am I was furious I’d chosen this place and was trying to decide if I should just leave in the middle of the night to drive 1.5 hours home. It was pretty bad. You can’t blame the guests on the owners but the owners are running a business and obviously knew at some point it got loud and didn’t do much or anything to correct the situation.
The breakfast for the upcharge is good- and Peter is nice and upbeat.
I think there should be a curfew on the pool if someone stays in the pool room. I don’t think they should advertise horseback riding. I don’t think they should give guests’ rooms away to other guests. I don’t think they should stock fridge with beer - maybe just 6? In case there are guests trying to get wasted.
The road leading to the place is rough if you’re in a car - soft sand and rocky uphill.
Beautiful place and I’m sure it’s usually 5 star but I was incredibly disappointed with getting little to no sleep, no horseback ride, not getting the room I booked, and being made to feel stupid for “not following her husband’s directions” upon arrival. I’m someone who reads reviews and if I had read an honest review like this I probably wouldn’t have wasted over $100.
Reply to owner: I appreciate the offer but no thank you. Feel free to refund on AirBnB due to not giving me the room I booked. Side note: Again- you said horseback riding wasn’t “advanced”- to which I said I haven’t been since I was a kid (obviously not advanced) but that did not work as you obviously did not want to do that horseback ride, which is fine, but just don’t advertise it if you aren’t open to doing the...
Read moreBOOKING: We booked 3 nights through Airbnb, which we had never done before. All went smoothly, and we received detailed instructions as how to get to their ranch. Not only that, Peter asked early on if we wanted a gourmet breakfast and shared how much the additional cost was. Spoke with him also on the phone and he was very friendly.||ARRIVAL: Follow Peter's detailed instructions and you will get there just fine. When you turn right off of Savannah Road, there is a little sign tacked up to something that says Rock Pointe Ranch. Also, the rough 2 lane dirt track road may seem forever to travel on, but you get used to it. Be aware the have two German Shepard dogs, but they seem friendly.||CHECK-IN: We got a tour of the lovely home, and the areas that we could move around in, including the screened in pool area complete with a cooking island and refrigerator. The frig. was stocked with both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. The small fee was posted and you put the money in a bucket. Easier than driving all the way back into town. Peter offered us an opportunity to take a free carriage ride pulled by their world champion Varner stallion. Unfortunately, we had plans to drive to the coast and visit some old friends.||ROOM: We had the Huntington Suite complete with a comfortable king bed, fireplace with a flat screen overhead, large bathroom, double sinks, linen closet, roomy shower, and a walk-in closet bigger than our main bath a home! Additionally there were two dressers, a small sofa, and French doors leading out to our private table and chairs on the front porch. The view was very soothing!||BREAKFAST: Truly a gourmet one every morning. Peter was a chef in Belgium, so every morning was a culinary adventure! I particularly liked the little crisp pre-breakfast cookies and the dessert of Belgium Waffles.||CHECK-OUT: We paid at check-out...very easy and receipt sent to our e-mail. Such wonderful hosts made this stay very comfortable.||ABSOLUTELY YOU SHOULD...
Read moreMy wife and I stayed in the Hunting Room for one night and then spent part of the day there on Tuesday. Peter greeted us like we were family and he immediately walked us around their home and showed us where everything was. The Hunting room was great and had plenty of space. Everything was very clean and in working order. The pool and patio area is screened in so the bugs don't get you. It was a little too cool to swim so we sat in the hot tub for a few. Peter's wife Nancy was so sweet to us and taught us so much about the Gypsy Vanner breed. We decided to do a horseback ride early in the morning before it got too hot for the horses. It was awesome because Peter and Nancy took lots of pictures for us. I'm an inexperienced rider but Peter was right there to ensure my comfort and safety. They are very safety conscience which made me feel very safe! Once our ride was finished, Nancy let us help with brushing the horses, putting away equipment, filling their food and water buckets and whatever else we wanted to help with. What a huge job it is to take care of those horses! Shortly after our ride Peter made us a wonderful breakfast. We were so full that we didn't want to eat lunch that day! Our experience was great to say the least and I hope that reading this review will lead you to go visit Rock Point Ranch. I know that you won't be disappointed. We will definitely stay...
