It was our first time here and I kept asking myself why I had never heard of this place in the entire five years that we’ve lived in Idaho. The only other pay-to-swim hot spring that we had been to was Givens which has a slightly bigger pool that you have to share with others…sometimes…many others. Roystone has much more to offer and is MUCH nicer to look at. The grounds are well maintained, the buildings are newer and kept in very good shape. The park is very green with plenty of picnic tables and a basketball court. They also have a huge private hot tub which is right next to a very nice private party room. I could tell that the owners enjoy their business and they are very friendly too. One thing that I really enjoyed was looking at all the metal artwork throughout this little resort. It turns out that the owner is quite the “artiste” and did all the metal artwork himself…by hand!!! He’s practically turned the place into his own personal gallery and his artwork is pretty darn cool. The artwork is mostly like an old Idaho theme with nature scenes and native Americans…..oh…. and… Hahahaha…Bob Marley! We rented the pool for one and a half hours and wished we would have rented it for three. It was clean and the temperature was perfect for the whole family. It’s completely enclosed, but has a raised roof so you still get the fresh air from outside and not just inhaling hot springs steam the whole time. Lockers aren’t needed since they rent the pool out privately, but they do have little round cubbys for you to put your stuff in (no food please, but plastic and metal water bottles are ok) We had a great time and we will definitely come back again and again. I give this place five stars for cleanliness, five stars for friendliness, five stars for appearance, and five stars for the on-site restaurant I hope they open some day (no pressure). A big thank you to the owners....
Read moreMy husband and I used to love visiting the private hot tub. We would make it a regular trip for ourselves. The private bathrooms, music, heated floors, and mineral hot tub were terrific and we felt great when we left. The last two times have not been so great. On the first bad trip in 2021, we went and had a horrible skin reaction as soon as we got out of the hot tub. Our skin was so itchy and red and irritated. This lasted for quite a while. I contacted the office to let them know and they asked me why I thought it might be. I told them, there should be no reason why as I had been going there for years and never had a reaction before. I asked if they were doing anything different. They informed me that they had started using chlorine in the mineral water since Covid. I told them that had to be it and that it should be noted that people were having a reaction due to the chemicals. They did not seem to be concerned for myself or others. They gave me their hands are tied. My husband and I decided to give them one more try after 2 years, we went back this past week and decided we were not going to go back. We had the same skin reaction, the shower curtain needed to be replaced, the shower walls and floor were dirty, and there were cobwebs in the corner of the shower wall at body level. The water completely stopped in the middle of me trying to shower. We were not able to enjoy our full-time due to the problems. We were looking forward to a nice relaxing hot springs day, but instead, it turned into a stressful time. It's disappointing because we used to love visiting here. We have referred so many family and friends here and now we are telling them to beware. I hope one day they will go back to the...
Read moreI’ve been to a lot of hot springs, and I’m just not really a fan of the cemented kind. For some reason, the pool is never very warm at these types of places and that was the case here too. The hot tub had the temperature that the pool ought to have had, IMO. I also don’t care for the requirement that you must rent the entire pool. It’s actually way more fun to do hot springs in a setting where you get to meet new people, and there are kids for your only-child to play with. But if you’d like to have a warmish hot springs all to yourself, this is the place for you (just bring some earplugs in case they want to whip out their leaf blower during your rental session).
Beware that your hour and a half includes the time it takes to get out, dry off, get your kids out and dressed and all toys and gear packed up, and in your car driving out the gate. So your hour and a half is really more like an hour, if you’ve got kids! Also note that they want 48hrs cancellation notice and you will still get charged a 10% “booking fee” regardless.
What I found most dismaying was to have to listen to them run their leaf-blower while trying to have a peaceful dip in the hot tub. Really??🤦🏻♀️ That has got to be one of the most annoying sounds on the planet 😂. I will say the place seemed very clean and well-cared for. But we don’t plan to visit this particular hot...
