Horrible service! I needed a room for the night before my wedding, and explained to the lady that it would just be me staying in the room, and that my groomsmen would meet in the morning to get ready and leave together. The conversation was going well, she even told me about both good and bad experiences with people getting ready for a wedding at their rooms, but she was comfortable with the idea of guests visiting that morning. I guaranteed her it would only be me staying the night in the room, as all my men live around the area/in Horton. She was going to book me for the biggest single king bed room they had, so there was absolutely no chance of me throwing a 'wild party' and making a 'huge mess.'
She asked what time I would plan to check out, and I politely told her my plans, and she even offered to not worry about a late check out fee, but I insisted as I thought it would be less of an inconvenience for the both of us. She then brought up random information that she has plans that night and is afraid she won't be able to clean it in time, and gave me no choice of a late check out. Keep in mind she's told me other rooms have been booked that same weekend/night.
She finally asks if I still want to go ahead and book the room, and I tell her yes, with my credit card in hand ready to make this as smooth as I can for her. She asks me for my name, and takes a long pause after hearing it. Her tone then completely shifts, and basically said she was denying me the room because she 'has too cook for a family that night,' and doesn't think the room would be a good fit for me, and other rambling excuses. I'm personally a little shocked and just say "Oh, well thank you for your honesty," and before I can even finish my sentence she rudely hangs up.
I can only imagine she was being prejudice towards me and the fact that my last name shares that of individuals around the area that she may know and has unreasonable opinions about. I don't know how in the current global climate, a small local business would turn down service, especially someone in need of a room that is coming from out of town, for their wedding!! The lack of humility towards me was an act of pure disrespect. I do not recommend this place. The service I received was very rude and...
Read morePat (manager/owner) was friendly, accommodating, professional, and attentive right from when I called to make the reservation to my arrival to the moment I left. The only inconvenience is that there is no front desk, and Pat had to come from her home a few blocks away to take care of the bill, however she made it as convenient as possible, which was to say, pretty prompt and with little wait time. The room was clean, neat, and had several little extras that I've not seen in hotels/motels that are even more expensive. Ground coffee instead of packs, a comfortable sofa, soft top bed that wasn't lumpy, pillows and sheets that were soft and comfortable, plenty of towels, and right beside was a local grocery, which made getting snacks/drinks convenient. The only minor complaint about the room is that you could hear some sounds from the next rooms, although not loud enough to be a bother. There is a nice park at a small lake a little over a 1/2 mile away that is pretty easy to walk to. The Wi-Fi was good. Overall, an...
Read moreFriendly manager, quiet, nice and clean room. Was very impressed with the interior decorating. Loved my stay here and would recommend it to anyone for a short or even long stay. Pat was the manager, she explained to me the history of the guest house and also displayed the wall of past Famous people who had stayed there with autographed pictures mounted on the wall. The cabin like interior style was a great touch to the...
