It was a cute lil hideaway dipped off in the cut! Everything was clean! There was even an ice tray full of ice... And why was that important at that time? I rode with a friend from Memphis to Arkansas... We had 2 other stops before Mount Ida... And it was hot... And we were in a box truck with no air! We made stops in between to get ice & stuff... But bout time we got to Aqua, that ice was longgggg gone! That tray full of ice was heaven sent! It was clean... Well equipped with cups and dishes... A little 2 chair dinette set by the window in the kitchen area... A 4 burner stovetop... A lil refrigerator, with a little TV on top... Clean bathroom with plenty of towels... Nice, comfortable, clean beds with thick pillows like I like... It had a window unit that cooled the whole room down within minutes... Cute little lamp on the night stand... I was thrown back, but adored how simple the decor was... And I had the best time during my stay! And the wifi was on point because my phone got NO RECEPTION!!! Had to use my Google voice number to make calls! Going there was a spare of the moment thing, but I'd plan a little getaway there... Take some groceries... Maybe a lil grill... A cooler fulla goodies... A blender for some mixed drinks... Just a nice lil spot to enjoy some quality time with a person you like, without all the extravagant bells & whistles of higher priced spots! But everything you need to make it a...
Read moreThis place is the best kept secret in Arkansas! You are extremely close to the crystal mines, yet you’re out in the woods if you want to sit outside. You don’t have to worry about anyone taking anything out of the back of your truck which matters if you have a lot of tools in your truck. The owners are AMAZING. Shirley is the best and she makes sure everything is taken care of. The rooms are extremely clean! She even checked on us to make sure we had clean towels after we had been there only a day. It is extremely dog friendly! We travel with two big dogs and this is the best place we have ever stayed with them. The highway is far enough away from the rooms that we don’t have to worry about it. We get the kitchenette so we can bring all of our own food and cook our meals, which saves a ton of money and is a lot healthier. You are also less than a minute away from the Ouachita river, and there is a really great rec area just down the road. We had stayed at a couple places around Mount Ida as we frequent the mines, but after we found this place this is our go to! If you’re looking to get away with your hubby and you like privacy and the woods COME HERE! Great place, really...
Read moreThis little motel in the middle of nowhere is perfect for fishermen and crystal miners. It's behind the owner's house, and she is just as nice as she can be. There are only 4 or 5 rooms, and a couple of them have kitchenettes for just an additional $5. Stovetop, microwave, mini fridge, small single sink, TV, and a kitchen table -- chrome and formica :) The bedroom we were in had a double and a single bed. The beds were comfortable. The bathroom shower and sink were obviously worn and old, but everything was absolutely spotless. The only complaint is that they are obviously on well water, and that water is highly sulfuric, so yes, it smells like rotten eggs. There is a place to wash crystals outside, and there is a little table and chairs outside each room with ashtrays to accommodate smokers. We think this is a great...
