I would love to give Catherine's Landing a raving 5 star review, however we stayed there for 2 consecutive weeks in May to visit our family and 1 year old granddaughter after not seeing them since December and missing our granddaughters 1st birthday in March because of Covid 19. We made our reservations by phone and was automatically routed to a call center who made our reservations. They did not tell us all the amenities where closed. We did not find out all the amenities were not open due to the virus until we got there and checked in. They still charged us FULL price to stay there as if ALL the amenities were open, when asked about it we were told "well the bathrooms and hiking trails are still open" However the bathrooms were never cleaned and sanitized. The entire 2 weeks we were there the same pile of ladies hair was in the shower stalls floor and the same trash was in the trash cans NOTHING was being sanitized. You have to use your hand to hover over the key pad to the bathrooms and laundry rooms then type in a code to enter they ARE not being sanitized bring your own Lysol and hand sanitizer. When my husband brought up the cleanliness of the bathrooms to the staff they said they were being taken care of. We again just finished another week long stay there to visit our family and 1 year old granddaughter June 12-19. This time the zip line and pool is open but very dirty and cloudy with globs of hair floating everywhere and dirt on the bottom of the pool floor and they are using covid as an excuse to close it at 5pm instead of their regular hours of 10pm. If you are going to get covid at the pool your going to get it weather its 9AM or 7PM. The water park was also open and Preston was nice enough to set up an umbrella at a table for my 91 year old grandmother to watch my granddaughter play in the water, however it quit working yesterday, maybe they will have it fixed today. The bathrooms....again not being cleaned or sanitized. I went to the same bathroom all during the week, same trash in the trash cans. The wi-fi is terrible. We could not get it to work half the time and we are both self employed. We asked about it, they said it was working fine for them. As for the rest of the park and facilities. They have really nice clean concrete parking pads for your RV/TT with nice grills and nice fire pits set up. Dog friendly with a couple of enclosed dog parks, hiking trail, disk golf, you can rent kayaks, boats, golf carts, bikes, and they have a boat launch. Wood is $10 a bundle which is 5 pieces and its hickory so be prepared to know how to make a fire with it. Rules are no clothes lines, no blow up pools for the kiddos, not good for the aesthetics but still saw those, no washing your entire RV just the front, people were washing their entire RV's anyway. Staff is super nice and friendly though. We made our plans in the office in May after spending 2 weeks there before leaving to go home 11 hours away to come back in June for another entire week and was not told about the monthly rate. For what we paid for the 3 weeks we have stayed there we could have stayed for 2 months. We could have just left our RV and let family come check on it or stay and camp while we were away until we came back so that was a bit disappointing as this is a place we will be coming back to often as regulars to see our family, friends and...
Read moreThis is an honest review as someone who does full time RV’ing and isn’t just a “weekend warrior”.
Though the rv park has amenities like laundry, restrooms, zip lining, etc. you may not always get put where you’ll be within walking distance to said things. The footprint of this park is HUGE. I was hoping since we were staying for a whole week that we would be put close to a laundry room but that wasn’t the case. We were in a weird weird spot smashed between all the weekend warriors.
They allow people to have a godly amount of friends over who take up empty open sites and party in the open sites next to their RV which made relaxing outside our rv a bit of an annoyance due to placement of sites they were basically partying in our front yard throwing lawn darts which we found unsafe for our kids.
Site #32 if it rains you will have a giant puddle right at your foot step when you open your rv door so be careful. I walked the park and didn’t see anyone else with this issue. We just got unlucky.
They do have boats and kayaks to rent but be careful when out on the river. Though it says at the dock it’s a “no wake zone” that is not the case several boats would come flying full speed at the bend without slowing down so If you have little kids in kayaks please be careful and cautious.
They have a no one can drive golf carts rule unless you’re over 18 but that rule is clearly not in-forced as there is several young kids driving golf carts all around and screaming like wild kids do without adult supervision. We came across a set of them while on the hiking trail and many more down within the park.
The swimming pool is like a giant hot tub, it isn’t cold at all. There is food all at the bottom of it which is disgusting. The bottom of the pool is not smooth so your feet will get torn up so badly. My older kids enjoyed the splash park next to the pool because that water was much cooler and had a more clean feel to the area. Us adults put one foot in on the pool step and felt how rough the bottom of the pool was and how HOT the water was and said NOPE. We cooled ourselves off in the splash pad with the kids but there isn’t any shade or adult tables on the splash pad side.
In all if you’re looking for a quiet relaxing spot in nature with some bonus items like pool/zip lining/laundry to have when you come back from a day out adventuring this is not your spot if you get stuck on the left side of the park with the party people. If you want a quiet spot I highly recommend asking for a spot on the RIGHT side of the park had we known that side was much more quiet with the full timers we were have asked to be put over there.
If you like to be in quiet nature and enjoy family time this isn’t your place. If you like to party and invite 100’s of friends to party with you at your site each day. This is the...
Read moreI don't generally post reviews but I feel like this is place deserves one... we made our prepaid reservation for 2 nights and arrived just after the office closed... we used the late arrival option to pick up our info. I was excited to stay here based off the great reviews. I asked for a spot with a bit of privacy since a lake front spot wasn't available. When we arrived, I saw that they did have a lakefront spot listed on the late arrival board. Our spot was probably one of the busiest spots due to the fact that it was on the end nearest to the boat rental and boat ramp, in the wide open with zero privacy. I'll live with it... Let's take a dip in the pool, it'll be relaxing. We walk to the pool... it closes at 5pm... because Covid wakes up after 5. Okay, we'll relax by the pool tomorrow... but wait! No one over 65 is allowed in the pool! What???!!! My husband is over 65! Guess we can't utilize this great pool. Okay, we'll do something else. We had kayaks reserved for the following day from 5pm to 8pm. I told my husband that since we couldn't hang out at the pool tomorrow we would go to Hot Springs Park and swim and kayak there for the day. Let's go take a shower and I'll throw something on the grill. We open our book to get the shower code and, Viola! No bathroom code! The next morning my husband went to ask for a refund on the kayaks since we were going to go to a different park for the day to swim and they said "no refunds." Okay, we'll just come back at 4 and eat an early dinner then kayak at 5. We arrive back here early, have dinner, go to pick up kayaks... they have rented them to someone else. Are you kidding me! How can you do that, we paid for them??? "Sorry", how about a canoe? No, we paid for two kayaks because I'm not riding with him. I get enough grief as it is, 🤦♀️. Now, we are stuck with nothing to do because it's almost 6pm on a Saturday evening. We leave tomorrow and I have to say that, although the property is well manicured, clean and feels safe, I will never stay here again. The staff has no ability to make any concessions for you, the only real shade is on the lake sites. You can see that clearly on the pics shown on google maps. Plan ahead and ask plenty of questions. A lot of amenities are closed "due to covid", though they don't mention that when you call to make reservations. And you are still paying full price and not getting the amenities. A two night stay was $140.00. I'm pretty...
