Echo Canyon is right on Lake Ouachita and not too far from Hot Springs. It's not way out in the middle of nowhere if you need to be close to town. There are things to do nearby, also, if you are a nature lover. It was really hot when we were there, so we didn't take advantage of nearby trails and parks. The lake is beautiful and clean - very picturesque area with the national forest surrounding it. Echo Canyon is not a huge public campground. They have cabins and mobile homes - limited. The general public uses the marina, so that causes some extra traffic/people during the day. If you take your boat, you can tie up to the marina or put in and out each day using the boat ramp. Very nice facilities! The lodging was nice. We had a one bedroom and a three bedroom cabin. The one bedroom is really small. It would be good for a couple or a couple and 2 small children if you plan to be outside most of the time. The three bedroom was really nice! It gave our family space to be together for meals and just chilling out (it was really hot while we were there!). Thankful for air conditioning!! It was stocked with some basic dinnerware and cookware and regular kitchen appliances, bedding and towels. There is a swim beach nearby, but no pool. We had a couple small children in our group and some outside play equipment would have been nice. There really isn't any place outside for gatherings or play. The cafe on site serves some basic yet tasty food! The resort staff was very helpful with whatever we needed. We enjoyed our stay and will put this on our 'good list'. Hopefully, when we return, the weather will be better so we can enjoy more...

My husband and I travel alot, we. Basically have 2 categories for where we stay or eat. 1. Will not visit establishment again, or 2. IT'S a DO AGAIN.....Echo canyon is a definite do again for us ! Very polite and helpful staff. PET friendly with no extra BS about pets, lots of room to take them on walks. We stayed in studio cabin with 2 large dogs, a bit small, but had everything we needed in kitchen, bathroom, and, although simple furniture, it had. really comfy couch and comfy recliner. This was a big plus after long hot day at crystal mine, or a long Hot day on lake. Very relaxing after full days of playing. Note: we were there during heat wave setting record high Temps, 104... We rented boat slip, uncovered, for our boat for Very reasonable price. The finger cove the resort is in is perfect for storm and wave protection from lake...which when storm is from east, the open lake is not where you would want boat moored. Plenty of room at cabins for parking boat, or empty trailer, with easy turn around while towing. I carried my own pillows, was glad I did. For us, the only thing that wasn't 5 stars was the mattress, it was quite firm. We are use to firm mattress with plush, soft tops. I would have liked a separate 2" topper on mattress and everything would have been perfect. WE WILL DEFINITELY STAY HERE ON OUR NEXT TRIP TO LAKE OUACHITA !!!!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND STUDIO CABINS FOR 2 PEOPLE OR COUPLES LOOKING FOR GREAT PLACE TO STAY ON EAST END OF...

We love the location and natural beauty of Echo Canyon, but our stay in the J Shack cabin was less than pleasant. We had Wi-fi the first night, but none for the rest of our stay (2 nights and 2 and 1/2 days). This would not be a terrible situation, but there is zero cellular service as well. With a pharmacy student and a veterinarian in our group, this was stressful. Resort staff acted as if this was a starlink issue, but we checked after we left and there was no record of outages online, and a quick google search said the router AND dish had to be reset when problems occurred and this was not done. One commode leaked, which the very friendly and helpful office staff person quickly came to fix, but until the commode is replaced with a smaller version that the door does not hit when opening, this problem will continue. There was also a "something dead" smell inside the cabin. We had to clean the grill before using, and it was on its last leg. The porches had to be swept of old leaves and pine straw. The cabin was very clean, and the beds and other furniture were nice. Needed more kitchen towels and washcloths, as only one of each was provided. Unlike the office staff, marina staff were not helpful or friendly. Beautiful place, but be prepared to be totally disconnected even though Wi-Fi...

Visited for a vacation and had a relaxcation. To start, ability to park right next to cabin and having our own grill feet from the lake facing patio was phenomenal. There is small kitchen in cabin and air conditioner too, so you get the wildlife experience with luxury amenities. Not being in the Hilton was nice and could fall asleep from the crackle of the camp fire and wake up to the reflection on the lake. Outside dining options are a little far, but worked out good cause we cooked dinner at cabin and in return got more enjoyable time. It's about 30 scenic minutes of driving to bath house row driving. We also did some of the quartz crystal prospecting at nearby mines and caught the crystal feverπŸ˜πŸ€’. The staff were super friendly and there demeanor was pleasant on arrival with a welcoming laugh. Now I need to get another trip on the books cause the question is not if I will go back but when I will go back. Thanks for the Rockstar vacation.πŸͺ¨πŸ€˜πŸ’Ž

It was one of the most wonderful experiences I've ever had the trees was pretty the water was crystal clear perfect temperature for skiing if I both would have ran good we could have skied but no we didn't run good it wouldn't go fast enough so we had to come back home and that was the worst thing of all all the facilities was very nice clean the people there was courteous there are plenty of boat ramps the boats was great and big some of the biggest houseboats I've ever seen rich rich rich people they must have been worth 5/6 million dollars they had multiple decks with swimming pools on top of them with bikini-clad women everywhere with rap music just banging away the bass boom boom boom boom man it was great I can't wait to go back we're going back again next weekend and I'm going to enjoy it

We just spent a fabulous 4 nights in a cabin overlooking the lake. Our cabin was very clean and updated and fully stocked, we just supplied The groceries. The staff are awesome. Very friendly and helpful. The scenery is spectacular with mountains, lakes, creeks, and plenty of wildlife. The LOViT trail access is within walking distance and we spent a full day hiking this awesome trail. The cabins are in the middle of the wood but Hot Springs is only a quick 20 minutes away. Mt Ida and Crystal Springs aren't too far either if you want to check out the quartz mines or just pick a creek to dig in and you'll find plenty of souviners. If you're planning a visit to the area I highly recommend considering this place. We will definitely be going back!
