Spent 2 nights here with our Best Friends (both of us were celebrating our anniversaries). Wonderful place to reconnect with each other I LOVED being secluded where we got Wonderful Family Time together. Now a days it is all about staying on the computer or cell phone but here not having that gave us the chance to relive what we have been missing so much. Playing family games, watching movies and listening to albums (YES I DID SAY ALBUMS) (THEY HAVE IT ALL IN THE CABIN SO NO WORRIES IF YOU DO NOT HAVE) and we had a blast dancing, It took us back to reality the way life should be ALL ABOUT TIME WITH FAMILY (You never know just how long you will have them around so enjoy them while they are still here to enjoy and again we had no interruptions. We talked about things from when we were young and relived the memories. Had we been elsewhere we would have never reconnected like we did. No phones ringing off the wall just us having a blast. And I GOT TO HIDE THE BEAR. It was a blast looking for him from the last visitors clues and then I got to write my clues and hide him. GOOD LUCK to the next LUCKY family that gets to stay in the Oak Ridge Cabin and find him. Dawn and Gabe were WONDERFUL and what a surprise when we go in and find our surprise they left us (each couple). I so wish I had stayed another night (2 nights were not enough) and it went just way to fast. Next time I am taking the grandbabies and let them enjoy the fun and learn that there is more to life then just electronics. VERY,VERY,VERY AFFORDABLE!!!!!!!!!! We went to Hot Springs but honestly I could not wait to get back to our quaint little cabin. We had thought about staying a night in Hot Springs but opted out when we saw Lone Cedar Cabins and said nope this is where we want to be. So was nice to make the short drive to Hot Springs and see that but was great when was done and we arrived back at the cabin. GABE AND DAWN YOU HELPED ME PROVE THAT IT IS NOT ALL ABOUT THE BIG THINGS AND THAT THE LITTLE THINGS MEAN SO MUCH MORE!!!! THANK YOU BOTH FOR AN AWESOME EXPERIENCE!!!!!!!! Vicki and John Davidson...
Read moreNice quiet place to stay. We were in the trailer and it was super cute. Gabe was helpful without being intrusive. There’s basically no cell service especially inside the trailer but they did have wifi so we could get messages and route our trips. You can also make calls as long as you have wifi calling.
It is secluded without being hard to find. We could see the other cabins from our cabin but I imagine when there are more leaves that is less of an issue.
The firewood smelled amazing. We didn’t really spend a ton of time by the fire but every chance we got to start one in the pit we did just to enjoy the smell.
Inside: The vintage fridgidaire was so cute. The gas oven and stove are old school (you will need to use a lighter and then turn on the gas) but work fantastic. We made a great mug of tea. There were some handmade ceramic mugs ready to use. There was a small tv and a dvd and vcr player with a nice little selection (Pretty Woman, Back to the Future, Ever After, etc! Should’ve taken a picture). Comfy chairs and great blankets. The radiator puts out great heat.
We were there for some cold weather and then hard rain and it sounded incredible against the roof. I find that sort of thing soothing.
We had a few bad days on our vacation and were thankful to be able to take refuge here and watch some movies on the vhs player. It triggered a lot of pleasant nostalgia for us.
If you’re looking for somewhere cute to stay near Hot Springs, this is a solid choice. It’s about 20 or 30 mins away from town.
Freckles is an adorable and very sweet dog. If you’re not into dogs, this might not be for you, but we were glad to have her come and cheer us up.
This is a really thoughtful place to stay. There’s a ton of little details that make it clear that someone has actually stayed here and thought about what you might need or what could go wrong.
Awesome little refuge, the highlight of our...
Read moreWe spent three nights in the Lone Cedar cabin, and I couldn't recommend the experience enough! Every inch of the interior AND exterior oozes rustic atmosphere and luxurious country living, from the back porch swing overlooking the peaceful woods to the impressive collection of VHS movies, cassette tapes, books, and records laid out for perusal and viewing/listening/reading pleasure.
We found that the owners went the "extra mile" in everything - the provided coffee is stored in an airtight coffee jar; plenty of dishes, both in quantity and variety, are provided (same with towels and other linens); the cabin has a wonderful fragrance that, while floral, is subtle and not overwhelming to people with sensitive noses; really, somehow any part of the property you might find yourself in, or any area you might decide to look, will hold something that adds to the richness of the experience.
The owners' outdoor pets, Freckles the dog and the cat (whose name we never learned) were fantastic to have around, as well! Their companionship during parts of the weekend made us feel even more at home. The owners, who we met briefly upon arrival and who were extremely responsive, were also quite welcoming and considerate.
I have absolutely no cons about this place and would wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone looking for a...
