Rocky Bluff Campground — Hotel in Hot Springs

Off the beaten path. The campground is perfect for someone who likes true camping. There is a little road noise, but there is also noise from the big rushing creek. The trails are well maintained. The sites are spacious and well layed out. Great river rock walls and steps. A lot of work went into creating this campground. The bathhouse is clean. The creek/river, the hiking trail, the overlook, the proximity to Max Patch and Hot Springs is all fantastic. A portion of the campground is closed due to budget cuts, but the beauty of this small campground is well worth the trip. It was neat. Tucked away down a really windy highway, you feel very secluded.

The meth heads camped next to us fought quite a bit, at one point around midnight the lady ran off and the dude was running through the woods screaming for her to return. Fortunately a sherrif's deputy happened by in the middle of this. He left the meth heads behind when he drove away. So that was fun.

As luck would have it, a young man and his girlfriend stopped by to chat. Nice people. He is a waiter somewhere, and she was recently released from prison after serving her sentence for attempted murder.

The trail to Spring Creek is a bit slick if it has rained recently, but its worth the short hike. Strikingly beautiful water.

Great place to camp. The stone work that was put into this place back in the sixties is just incredible! Every site is unique. Hiking includes a short hike to the lookout into the gorge of Spring creek (Great view), then to a really old cemetery on the ridge top. Kids enjoyed that late night hike. A moderate hike down to the creek is totally worth the trip. Good trout fishing and wildlife viewing. Clean and working restrooms. Bring the bikes for the kids! The campground loop is a ton of fun.
