This charming b&b is located in Colorado’s Delta County wine country where we self-developed a biking itinerary to mimic what we typically do in the fall in Europe. We traveled with another couple and created our own routes for biking, hiking and wineries. We are from the front range and were delighted to become better acquainted with the place that supplies cherries, peaches and apples to our front-range grocery stores. We looked for distinctive accommodations for this trip for our enjoyment in the mornings and evenings and came across Maison de Terre. What a delightful and interesting choice! This property is an authentic adobe home on a rural property outside of Cedaredge, CO. It was fully constructed by hand by the owners - from hand-hewn exposed beams to the handcrafted and dried bricks that form this property’s super structure. The guest rooms are on a lower, private level with private patios. The family (owners) live upstairs and everyone shares a common foyer. The experience at this property is one of feeling truly “hosted” – like family who hasn’t seen each other in a while. Marty and Terrie were wonderful hosts, bringing lovely breakfasts to us each morning on trays to the patio outside our rooms. Such a treat! They have created a such a special place - remote from the front range with black skies and brilliant stars, and requiring no plane ride or jet lag recovery. ...
Read moreWow!! What an incredible place. Located on the outskirts of the cute little quaint town of Cedaredge, you get a calm, relaxing, almost rustic type of experience at Maison de Terre. My partner and I stayed here for 2 nights, and could not have been happier with the accommodations and also the couple that owns it. Prior to arriving, I spoke with Terrie on the phone and let her know that it was my partners birthday on the day we arrived--I asked if she could help me by grabbing some of her favorite things while she was in town before we got there. Terrie over delivered and made the room so beautiful and I was able to surprise her on her birthday! The best part of the whole stay was Terrie and Marty. They both made us feel like we were part of their family and like we were at home. Anything we needed they provided and made us feel comfortable. They both built this house with their bare hands, making the bricks from scratch over the past 30 years. If that doesn't make you feel special by getting to stay there then I don't know what will! Completely worth the price and we can't wait to go back and visit them again! Highly...
Read moreOur recent 3 night stay was quite comfortable. The room was spacious and the patio had a nice seating area. Marty and Terrie were easy to work with and our after dark arrivals each evening were easy to arrange. The bathroom was large with plenty of area to move around. The river-rock shower had plenty of hot water but the rock floor was a challange to stand on if you have balance issues. Our breakfasts were delicious and brought to our room each morning. Crepe morning was a special treat and the daily fresh fruit bowls were full of peaches right off the tree off the patio. Biscuits and scones were light as a feather. Due to Covid-19 we did wear masks when entering the home and exiting our room as did our hosts when we were present. Due to our late evening arrivals and morning departure times we were unable to visit the public rooms of the house. Maison De Terre is off the beaten path so drive slowly because there are plenty of deer...
