Campground Review - Lakeview RV Resort Houston, Texas
The unexpected bite of winter chased us south, a polar vortex stretching its icy fingers far beyond its usual grasp. We had been in New Orleans when the forecasts turned dire, warning of snow and ice even in the deep South. A sudden speed run put us on the road, racing ahead of the storm, and when we finally pulled into the Sugar Land RV Resort near Houston, the cold was already knocking at the door.
The resort was in full preparation mode when we arrived, the staff moving with an air of practiced efficiency. They knew this kind of freeze was rare, but they also knew their infrastructure wasn’t built to withstand it. Notices went out, conversations buzzed around the park, and we were informed that the water supply would soon be shut off to prevent the pipes from bursting. Thankfully, we had just enough time to top off our fresh water tank, ensuring we had what we needed to ride out the storm.
When the freeze came, it was as fierce as predicted, blanketing the area in ice and sending temperatures plunging well below the norm. We hunkered down inside the Badger, the upgrades we had made proving their worth. While others battled frozen hoses and malfunctioning systems, we remained comfortable, insulated from the chaos outside. The staff at Sugar Land RV Resort continued to impress, keeping residents informed and responding to needs with kindness and professionalism.
The resort itself held a balance between temporary travelers like us and long-term residents, a mix of snowbirds and blue-collar workers who had settled in for extended stays. Despite this, it never lost its resort-like charm. The pride in maintenance was evident, from the clean concrete pads to the well-kept communal areas. Our site was a spacious pull-through with full hookups, making our stay both convenient and comfortable.
Exploring the local area was easy, with plenty of shopping and dining options nearby. One of our favorite discoveries was H-E-B, a grocery store that quickly won us over with its selection and quality. When we weren’t venturing out, the resort itself offered plenty to enjoy. There was a large, heated pool and a hot tub, though they were temporarily closed during the worst of the storm. Still, I saw at least one determined woman braving the hot tub once things warmed up.
A man-made lake sat at the heart of the resort, its waters inviting guests to try their luck with catch-and-release fishing. Nearby, a propane fire pit and an outdoor kitchen with a gas grill provided a cozy gathering space. For pet owners, a free dog wash was available, a thoughtful touch. The park also offered onsite propane refills, a convenience we appreciated.
Security was another highlight, with the entire resort enclosed within a gated compound. While there was some noise from the nearby highway and the occasional siren, it was nothing unbearable compared to other places we had stayed. The park also allowed Amazon deliveries, a welcome amenity for travelers needing supplies on the road.
Inside the main building, we found a massive community room, a well-equipped space featuring gym equipment, card tables, couches, and a coffee bar area. Vending machines lined one wall, offering quick snacks and drinks. The laundry facilities were also impressive, with large industrial washers and dryers. The only downside was the lack of a change machine; guests had to purchase laundry cards from machines that accepted credit cards. Washers ran at $3.50 per load, with dryers costing $1 per 20 minutes.
When all was said and done, Sugar Land RV Resort proved to be a solid choice, not just as a temporary haven from the storm but as a well-maintained and thoughtfully designed stop for travelers. At $52 a night, it offered good value for the amenities provided. If our travels bring us back to this area, we’ll gladly return.

Read moreI live 200 miles from Houston and enjoyed my time at the Lakeview RV Resort the last two weekends of February, 2024 while completing volunteer commitments for my Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo committee. I utilized another nearby RV park in prior years who chose to double their prices and require a three night minimum stay. At first I was dismayed over the fact it was a bit further from NRG that the other; however, the immense difference in the quality of this park more than made up for the difference in travel time to where I needed to complete my commitments. Also, the amenities are FAR SUPERIOR to the other park; although I had no time to enjoy them this year. The restrooms and showers are very nice and very clean (I prefer hotter water in the showers but it was sufficiently warm). A nice laundry facility with reasonably priced supplies is also available. Due to my preference to not tow a vehicle with my motorhome, I typically utilize city buses or Uber to travel where I need to go while I am traveling in my RV. This park is perfectly suited for traveling by bus because the bus stop is near by and no need to cross the street exists. The 14 bus travels to the Texas Medical Center Transit center where you can transfer to other routes or hop on the light rail train. In the Other direction it travels to the West Belfort Transit Center. Shopping and restaurants are found on the bus 14 routes. Transferring to bus 68 is required to travel to a Wal-Mart (the one on Bissonnet is recommended). Furthermore, the managers of this park are friendly, helpful, kind and attentive. Overall, I have no complaints and only accolades. I hope to make a trip there soon simply to enjoy the park and its amenities. My only recommendation would be to place a light over the walkthrough gate keypad in order to facilitate entering the park at night (I did not wish to provide the Uber driver my gate code and requested to be dropped off at the gate. It was dark both times.); but, I fortunately was able to guess which keys were the correct ones to push. Perhaps one of those little solar lights would suffice. I look forward to...
Read moreThe best! We. have been living here since February and it has been nothing short of wonderful. The facilities are immaculately maintained, the staff members are friendly and responsive and the amenities are beyond what you'll find at most places. There is a pool, hot tub, fire pits, gym and a gorgeous lake with a walking trail around it. They also have fenced dog play areas, a dog wash area and tons of green space. They also have a very nice laundry facility that takes credit cards (big perk because I never have cash). This place might be a little more expensive than others, but there are so many reasons why it's worth it. We've never had any issues with vehicles being broken into or seen any random people wandering around. The gated access is secure and always works perfect. Even the restrooms and showers at the pool area have code access only. We also love that around the lake there are small pavilions with gas grills and refrigerators so that you can have small gatherings with a great view. The grills are always SPOTLESS as the staff is constantly cleaning. They also do an amazing job at mosquito control throughout the entire park, but specifically around the pool and amenities. I really cannot say enough great things about Lakeview RV/Quality RV parks for the experience we have had during our time here. The other residents are super friendly and happy to help if you need anything. There is also a shuttle to the Texas Medical Center for those needing treatment/care-which is a huge perk to avoid driving/parking. Remember-cheaper is NOT better when it comes to quality of life and peace of mind about where you're living. There is no other place in Houston that compares to this for...
