Pros: Clean. Management was always polite and professional with me.
Cons: Literally everything else.
TL;DR if you're a guest passing through: choose Wanderstay. Don't choose any of these properties.
TL;DR if you're looking for medium term housing on a budget: prevent yourself from getting so financially tight that you have to choose this place.
The on-site manager does nothing to enforce any of the rules that most of the guests feel too entitled to observe. The on-site manager does everything to keep the place clean. While she is only doing half of her job and ignoring the other half of her job, the half she does feel like doing is done extremely well. In my opinion, a replacement is desperately needed.
There are guests here who smoke literal crack in the backyard, snort lines of literal coke in the bunk rooms, and get drunk and belligerent regularly. Quiet hours are rarely observed. People will play media on their speakerphones not only in the common areas; but, in the dorm rooms themselves. There are weekly and loud verbal altercations between guests which monthly lead to physical altercations (with many of these being the result of playing media via speakerphone thus causing guest disturbance.)
As a vignette to show how badly this place is managed, during one such physical altercation, the police were finally called and charges pressed against a guest who physically assaulted 2 another guests. This guest fled the scene and returned later. Upon learning of this, the on-site manager did not notify the police of his return leaving this business guilty of harboring a wanted criminal. Upper management also refused to evict not only this guest (even after the altercation and learning of the charges) but the guest who initially aggrivated the situation.
Outside of this one instance, there is an unofficial rule against calling the police as a result of this contrived "anti-snitching" culture prevalent in the urban ghetto environ within which this business is located. Therefore, violent and belligerent guests whom management refuses to evict, are not allowed to experience any consequences of their behavior and, indeed, are instead emboldened to continue to be disturbing of house.
The very small percentage of respectful guests who are there as a result of unfortunate circumstance are left with two options (per management's inaction and on-site's mismanagement): deal with it or leave.
I have no idea who the actual real owner of these properties is and I have no idea if they even care about the wanton criminality occuring at their place of business, the pathological disregard for the shared living agreement, and the ticking legal time bomb the current execution of this business presents. But, if by some chance you're reading this, you may want to clean house if you want this business to have any other reputation than a bougie trap-house. If your goal is, instead, to have as many vulnerable and legally powerless people incapable of seeking redress as possible under one roof, then this business has achieved...
Read moreNothing good to say about this place. I have travelled far and wide and always enjoyed hostel life. This is hostel death. No 'shuteye' of any kind will be found at this place. My room was a mess, stunk of weed, the guy below me plays online games loudly with friends over headset all the day/night. Air con did not work in 40c/110F heat. Toilet didnt even work, manager had to reach into the cistern water to lift the latch to flush it. She was the only redeeming quality, and was fully understanding when I took one look at the room/place turned around and exited.
Even the worst 3rd world countries hostels are far superior than this place. And its in the middle of no where, which cost me $25 uber there and back, so ended up not being a cheap/pleasant experience. Thumbs down. Owner insisted on charging me full price for this 100% honest review. He could of been reasonable and refunded me, but responded 'we dont respond to threats'. I am not threatening you, I am telling you what I think. Threats carry disproportionate response. This is 100% accurate, reasonable reponse anyone else in my situation...
Read moreI am at the Shut-eye now. All bookings are non-refundable. I would not recommend the place because there is a group of long-term residents who won't let others sleep. Management overwhelmingly favors this group although they are disruptive, abusive, and threatening towards other visitors. I have been kept up all night by a guy shouting to another video game player. A young man threatened to vandalize my belongings by drenching them in water, a group of young women talk loudly, turn on lights, and carry lights all night long. I have booked my return travel a week early because I cannot get any sleep here and I don't feel safe here. Quiet hours are supposed to start at 9:00 p.m. in the rooms, but the lights, loud talking, and walking around start at 11:00 p.m.(But only for long-term residents) travelers are bullied into being totally quiet. This is not your traditional hostel by any stretch of the imagination. It is mostly young people living on money from...
