Customer service worst of anywhere. They have a minimum guaranteed population of 64 students 3x per year so I guess it's just not necessary. For example, they sit behind a screen at the front desk when they're not busy. Fine. But when I approach and the person talks to me from behind the screen and I never see their face......yeah......
Hot water is nonexistent after 11am. Tea bags aren't available after breakfast though so I guess it doesn't matter anyway.
Never will you ever have all washers and dryers working. When the washer breaks, the solution is a screwdriver and a flashlight 🤣 At least my clothes were freed?
Location is inconvenient. 5+ minutes to get off post and there's nothing on post anyway. Dominoes seems to be the only thing that delivers on post.
IHG ran a promotion for extra points per stay. 2 of the front desk personnel could figure it out. One said it wasn't allowed. Cool. Figure out your policy. Be consistent.
Only highlight - Arlene is the 3rd floor housekeeper and quite possibly the only one who takes pride in her job. Very kind, very generous, and seems to care about the rooms and the people that stay in them. 5...
Read moreGreat, if you actually get a room at the Candlewood. If you get stuck in building 131, 133, or 135...good luck. I have stayed twice at the Candlewood, and it's everything you would expect. Great staff, well maintained facility, all the amenities. My most recent trip had me in 133, which is about 3 miles from the main building. There is nothing "suite" about this room. The furniture is worn and chipped. The coffee maker would not drip into the pot and overflowed (replacement provided same day as reported). The microwave did not work (also replaced, but I had to order out and wasted a meal the night I discovered this). My room was just a room with a tiny microwave, a desk, TV, mini fridge, and just the desk chair. Some of the rooms in these buildings (same rate) have a separate living room with a couch and small kitchen area, according to others attending the same training. If you are unlucky enough to get a room here and no rental car, you miss out on most of the amenities and conveniences of the Candlewood. I had higher expectations after my previous stays, so I was very...
Read moreI wore an Army uniform for over 30 years and this is the best military accommodation that I’ve ever stayed in. We were in room 213 which has a large bedroom and another large sitting room. Everything worked properly in the room. We sat at the pool and sipped brewed beverages. Unexpectedly, we found that a complementary dinner was provided which augmented the included breakfast the following morning. Breakfast is the typical hotel one with cereal, omelettes, sausages, and biscuits. The IHG staff are extremely pleasant and helpful. There is a full-size refrigerator in the suite but no ice trays. An attendant in the breakfast area will provide ice upon request. The Strike Zone (bowling alley) is 300 meters north and hamburgers ($6), chicken fingers, wraps, etc can be found. Beer is $3 for a 12 oz draft or $4.75 for a 16 oz (which makes no sense). Order the 12 oz. A visit to a Rocket City Trash Pandas baseball game a few miles away is full and a downtown Huntsville Havoc hockey match...
