Updated review for the water park: 5 stars! I am beyond impressed that the owners took the time to implement changes I mentioned. We went back this week - all the hot tubs were open! The kids loved it. The stairs up to the slides now have traction! And the snack bar has ice cream cups. They even added a drink fridge in the lobby where you can buy bottled drinks. Thank you for listening Pecan Valley!
This is a review for the water park only. We went to the soft opening. Itās definitely close to 5-stars, there are just a few things I hope they adjust as they open.
Pros: Lazy River is awesome. Every 20-30 min, they turn the wave machine on. Itās not too crazy, but still fun. My 4 year old did it in a life jacket. Siren alarm warns you itās starting. All the water slides are great. We loved that the water playground had the water buckets dump in a concentrated area so kids didnāt have to get dumped on if they didnāt want to The lifeguards were so attentive and took their jobs seriously. Decent shade with umbrellas over the chairs
Things Iām hoping to see in the future: All the hot tubs were closed. An employee told me they are only turning them on for events. Really disappointing. I spoke to several other families who were disappointed in this as well - the kids get cold from swimming and were so upset about the lack of hot tubs. Other similar water parks have them open and it made the kids say they would rather go there just to have the option to warm up The stairs to the large water slides are all tile and get wet as expected - making them super slippery. I would love to see too some traction put in on the stairs to help this. There are about 20 parking spots in the lot, the rest is street parking. It might change as they grow but just something to be aware of Drinking water. There is one fountain in the lobby that requires you to go through the lobby and past the front desk. The filter light is also red (not working?). We went to the bar for water several times and the bartender mentioned they should put a water fountain outside. I would love ice cream or snow cones in the snack bar in the future.
Overall, we loved it and will be back. They are doing so well for having just opened. I just wanted to give some feedback...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreOverall I would the resort is a great place to take young kids and have a fun time over a weekend or 3 day trip. With that in mind here are some things you should also know.
-They are still new and don't exactly have their processes or systems down. Food will take way longer than it should, certain features will be on or off depending on staffing. All just growing pains of a new facility and staff but if that bothers you then proceed with caution. Not to mention there is just construction everywhere but again we knew that going in.
-The size of the park is great for the current housing levels. The issue here is a year from now my guess is this place will be brutal on the weekends as the planned housing seems like it will outpace what they should support with the space.
-Pecan Valley vs Desert Color: you might be deciding between these two. If you have young kids they have much more at PVR to entertain your kids and the size makes it easier to keep an eye on them. Desert color is a much larger space and a better place to just hangout for the day. So if its mostly adults I'd say Desert Color should win out.
The nearby housing is all new and nice and reasonably priced for what you are getting. My advice sneak a trip in soon as it might get to be overly busy if you...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe attended the Pecan Valley Clubhouse Water Park for a birthday party. The parking situation is horrible BUT our check-in was easy and quick at the front door. They gave us color coded bracelets based on height for the different attractions which helped the lifeguards and saved time once inside. The resort is BEAUTIFUL. The loungers, umbrellas, even the tubes are on brand and gorgeous. The pools were clean and there were so many slides for the younger kids to enjoy! Even the adults enjoyed several of the smaller slides. The big slides were popular but they did shut down on occasion due to lifeguard shortages. The lazy River has a really fun touch with the 1,300 gallon dumping bucket, we were only disappointed that it didnāt run ALL the time because we loved it. The microphone during the rubber ducky races was rough, it kept cutting out so it was very difficult to understand but as a brand new resort, Iām sure theyāll iron out all the kinks. We will absolutely go back to enjoy all the water features...
