This was our second trip to Jackson Hole, we had stayed in another B&B that we enjoyed on our last visit. We decided to try the Hide Out this time based on the wonderful reviews and location. Unfortunately, our experience was disappointing. We have stayed in B&Bs in the states and overseas and have always enjoyed our experience. We understand these are new hosts and have only been there since Nov 2021. We really get the impression that they are extremely inexperienced. They seem to have a lack of detail and attention to the guest. On Sunday morning we were served a premade lukewarm breakfast burrito wrapped in foil that we watched Eddie take out of the oven. Tuesday morning breakfast was a Frittata and a slice of toast that was made the night before again warmed in the morning for serving. (We know this because Amy told my wife she had to go up to their living quarters and cook on Monday evening carrying eggs and sausage) It was still cold in the center. Wednesday morning, we were served one 4” diameter pancake and 1 slice of bacon, Eddie and Amy said we could ask for more. Friday morning breakfast was Southwest Scramble with a slice of toast. It was warm and fresh but my wife did not enjoy the sour cream in the center. It would be nice to have had an alternative to the cooked breakfast on early excursion days, like cereal or bagels. As a side note we are pretty sure all food served was glutton free and the sausage in the frittata and scramble had an odd flavor and texture, so not sure if it was vegan sausage. It would be nice if they served local items unique to Jackson, like Huckleberry Jam and a local coffee roaster. The snacks that were available for guests were microwaveable cup of noodles and granola bars. It would have been nice to have some freshly baked items as the reviews led us to believe would be available. Maintenance and Upkeep: After the first shower I let Eddie know that the shower control was broken, it was hard to adjust to a good temperature and didn’t have a stopping point to turn it off. This was never addressed during our stay. The deck off our room was not usable because of approximately 3’ of snow, Eddie told us the snow was from the roof being cleared. Fireplace: You can request a fire between 4 an 10 PM. The host had to build the fire and did not respond to request in a timely manner taking up to 30 minutes to respond. Two of the evenings they were not home to start the fire, one evening it was about 20 minutes to get home the last evening I request a fire at 6:00 PM and the host did not responded for 30 minutes and when they did they said they would not be back until 8 -8:30 PM and did not actually arrive until after 9:00 PM The host did nothing to make the place stand out. They seemed to keep to the bare minimum as if they were told to economize. Honestly, we did not feel welcome. The Hideout is beautiful. The rooms were very clean, beds comfortable and the views amazing, but based on our experience with Amy and Eddie, I am sorry to say we would not return. We hope this feed back will help and that your future guests will have a different and...
Read moreAmong perhaps the most beautiful place in America sits the Jackson Hole Hideout. The Grand Tetons are a range of amazing mountains south of Yellowstone and north of Colorado’s Rocky Mountain Park, which is renowned for its beauty and its powerful jutting peaks. Infamous for being one of Ansel Adams’ playgrounds, Grand Teton range is a seriously impressive chain of mountains that awe the spectator like few places around the world can. Second to only Europe’s Alps and perhaps Glacier National Park in my book, the Grand Tetons are a place everyone must experience for themselves.
Hidden south of the village of Jackson Hole is a fantastic bed and breakfast that my wife Leah and I had the pleasure of staying one night at last month on our trip through Wyoming and Montana. The Jackson Hole Hideout is a private hillside lodge that offers a high-end home away from home, with fresh breakfast and peace and quiet in a lovely forest setting. The lodge is a multi-layered architectural beauty boasting five private rooms packed with generous amenities, which Leah and I found to be extremely cozy and so much like a forest paradise that we had a hard time leaving.
We stayed in the Gunslinger Suite, which has it’s private entrance, private deck with woodland views, sitting area with sofa, chairs and television. But that’s not all… The Gunslinger Suite is the perfect family option as it has two twinXL beds in a separate room from the main king bed. In the master bedroom is a corner nook which is perfect for wildlife watching, book reading, and day naps, and the spa-like bathroom offers double vanity and heated floors and a wonderfully large shower. The owners are so very kind and great to talk to, so much so they shared their vision with me for their lodge. They traveled for years together and learned what they liked and disliked about the places they stayed and decided to slow down and create the perfect accommodation in one of the most stunningly beautiful areas of the Rockies. And those details come through in how much they care about their guests.
All in all, Leah and I very much enjoyed our time at Jackson Hole Hideout, and we couldn’t think of a better place to stop on our...
