Nearly two years ago i wrote to everyone I could about this incident. Nobody has said a word yet. The only reason I can think of they calling the police on me is because I ordered food from the same restaurant every night. This happened shortly after my dinner was delivered. After all this, I stayed a third time, requested to see a manager upon arrival, same result; no call, no manager, nothing was said. This is the email I sent the day after the incident:
I stayed at your JAX location April 24, 2017 to April 28, 2017.
This was my second stay at a Microtel property. I really like the concept. Need to improve the cleaning of occupied rooms, fixing the bed and replacing toiletries doesn't count as cleaning the room. One of the many positions I held in hotels was Housekeeping Manager. In my years in managerial positions at hotels, I never saw or heard of what happened to me my last night at your hotel. I was relaxing in my room after showering when someone banged hard on my door. Since I didn't know anyone in the area, I ignored it, I figured the Front Desk would contact me if they wanted to notify something. A second bang got me curious, I peeked, that was a mistake. There was a tall policeman, pushing the door, telling me to step outside. I informed the man I was nude, he was too close for comfort. I peek to the right and I saw a second policeman, that kind of gave me some comfort. I wasn't allowed to shut the door. I thought he would not push it open, and yet, there I was, bearing it all out in front of strangers. He pushed the door open. I quickly put on shorts and hurried out shirtless, was too nervous to think about that. When I stepped out I saw two more policemen in defensive positions, now I'm scared. The man informed me that they received a report that there was Marijuana smoking in my room. WHAT??????? I told them I don't smoke, period! invited them in; they said it was ok for me to go back in. I look to my left and I see one of your Front Desk Clerks standing at the corner. Not a word from her... I don't know what your policy is when you get that kind of complaint, all I know is: I was unnecessarily humiliated and insulted because someone decided to call the police on me before verifying the facts. Someone should have called me, left a note or come to me personally to explain why this happened. Never heard from anyone. Just standard procedure I guess. Hopefully someone, who would do something for this to never happen again, will read this and do something about it. I doubt I will get my...
Read moreIf I could give this place no stars, I would. Severely over priced with nasty cheap motel quality. The paint was ripped in patches, the carpet had some dirty spots as though food had spilled but wasn't cleaned up, the AC in one of our two rooms wasn't functioning properly, the couch in that room had an opaque white splotch on it and we found the bed had a pork rind (immediately under the edge) and a remote underneath right before we checked out, there was a cigarette burn in one of the comforters that we noticed, the bathrooms smelled of mildew and had mold around the caulk on the fixture in one shower and significant rust around both door frames, and one toilet didn't flush properly, which we still have to utilize for "number 1" because we had two rooms for three adults and four children. There was no manager on duty when we checked in and were offered to change rooms, but with no guarantee the rooms would be near each other or any better and no manager on duty to voice these problems to. The following morning, I did speak to the manager and he was dismissive and defensive as though I had cause the room to be in such condition or was lying about the state of things when we had to call the evening staff up several times about the more significant issues that we requested to be noted. His answer to me was that we could have left and gone to another hotel, which we should have, but I had already paid online and we had a group of very young children. I requested knocking one room off, essentially a 50% discount considering the substandard conditions in both rooms, which was promptly denied as his employee threw back her head in very obvious annoyance, like a toddler throwing a fit, though she was not a part of this incident at all whatsoever. The only saving grace was the evening staff. They were kind and understanding. They did what they could in their power to accommodate us and note our issues. Overall, I would not recommend this hotel to anyone with moderate standards or with small children. The complacency of management and the upkeep staff made this a very unpleasant experience and we expected at least a little better out of a hotel associated with the...
Read moreThe hits. • Check-in was fast and efficient, if not friendly • Large and super clean room featuring a sitting area w/couch, small refrigerator, microwave oven, wet bar, excellent lighting, super-sized Samsung TV, small office area with office chair, even a couple of bar stools • comfortable bed with soft linens & three pillows • plenty of hanging and drawer space • excellent lighting (if a bit jarring in the morning) • clean bathroom with tub/shower combo • Cooler is neither loud nor quiet and cools the room quickly • Fast & free wifi • two small bottles of water provided • office area has power on top of the desk & a real office chair • over-sized Samsung TV
The misses. • Check-in: the clerk photocopies your I.D. (my case, a passport card). I don't like that practise. • The office chair in the room is for short people, at least shorter than 6' 3" • The elevator feels like it was installed (and last maintained) about 1992 • Breakfast is lacking, to say the best. No orange juice, only cheap white bread for toast, coffee is mediocre, some bright yellow slab of something that may be part egg. The cutlery is the cheapest available on the planet. By far the "miss" that contributes most to the three-star instead of a four-star rating • TV is not a smart TV, so no wireless connection to your device • soap dispenser in bathroom was empty • loud stomping noise from upstairs about 02:00 • I am a Wyndham platinum member; I asked for a late checkout and was denied. This is common, about one property in fifty will grant the benefit Wyndham claims • no channel guide for the TV • no bottle opener (I used to travel with one, but nowadays, TSA takes it away 1/3 times) • I booked a King and got a Queen (also common in the...
