We arrived to the inn mid afternoon, not a sole in sight. There was a note that said help yourself to the key to your room if you’ve paid in advance. (We had) However we heard rumblings from the kitchen and the Chef Christine popped out and finished helping with our check in. She was amazing and very delightful! She was prepping for the nights special- All you can eat Prime Rib! Invited us down later for dinner and we were on our way to our room! The doors key was missing from our key fob, so I raced back downstairs to find the owner and ask him for a key. He was surprised the key was also missing and gave me another. Back up the steps I went, and I found the room overall very cozy. The bathroom was on the smaller side, however the age of the inn, I was surprised to find there was even full bathroom within the room. The floors creek, there’s an actual radiator in the room that keeps the room very warm, and the furnishings are worn but fit very nicely within the decor/setting. This sounds like a poor review, in fact it’s not! This place is charming, lovely and the food is amazing! The evening meal was perfect! Portions were absolutely on point and the service by Beth was great!!! However my disappointment came the next morning when we arrived for breakfast and the gentleman behind the computer was too involved in what he was doing than getting the breakfast room ready. We had a fantastic sausage artichoke quiche, fresh fruit, fresh baked banana bread, orange juice and hot cocoa. All was delicious! Check out seemed off as well when we asked for a receipt. It was as if it was an inconvenience, brushed it off and then were on our way! Overall it was a great stay! I’m giving 4 stars for the quaintness, the charm, and the comfort as well as the food and the interactions with all the staff except the morning man.

I hope to be...

We booked three rooms to stay overnight for a local wedding the end of June. We received a telephone call at 2 PM the day we were to arrive, asking when we would be there. I advised the individual that we would be there around 3:30 PM. At 3:32 PM we arrived and there was no one at the inn. There was a handwritten note at the front desk to contact a tel#, but WiFi and cellular data were not working. We were not able to get through to anyone. We changed into our wedding clothes in the lobby.

Just before we left, an intercom came on in the lobby. It was one of the owners who was in Delaware at the time. He said that the keys were in the rooms. We tried to get into them, but were only able to open the door for one room. We left some of our luggage and then ran into an individual who just arrived at the inn. She said that she was in charge and would have our luggage placed in our room(s), but when we returned hours later the luggage was still in the lobby and there was no one available to assist us.

At that point, we left the inn and drove home. We did not receive any reimbursement for any of the rooms.

In addition to the lack of assistance/service, the inn is very outdated/dilapidated. As a friend who was going to stay there and also left, “lower your expectations”. When we drove up I actually laughed. It did not look like the online photos. My first thought was for the 1960s series, “Green Acres.”

I understand it is under new ownership as of July 18th, so I cannot speak to what changes/improvements are being made. I spoke with one of the new owners about a reimbursement. She said she was going to contact the previous owners, who would be in touch with me. Of course, nothing happened. No contact. No reimbursement....

Exceeded my expectations. Honestly read reviews and had reservations or some sort of doubt about it .. So I arrived to an authentic 1800's type structure, that had no ghosts, but plenty of character. My objective was to attempt to climb Mt. Monadnock nearby, which I was able to (95%). I didn't reach the summit, but was able to overcome some fears. Sorry, this is a review of the Inn and not myself.

Not sure what 5 stars even means, but I rated it as such, for these reasons:

It was clean in the bathrooms, the provided towls, blankets and different cloths were clean ( My girlfriend stressed of the importance of that, (she even brought ours from home just in case and did not use them) 5/5

The common room downstairs area by the fireplace made it feel laid back, and comfortable to the point I chose a structured chair and not a rocking chair for safety reasons. Both were available. The downstars is the heart and soul every Inn. This one had it and still does. 5/5

After the enjoyment of the heart and soul of the common area (downstairs) and the use the rest/bath room facilities. Its time to discuss the sleeping quarters.... The mattress in the room we booked was softer than the one I personally own at home. The pillows made me dream of running a company or running for president. 5/5

On the technlogy side, ( WiFi). That worked as advertised. Actually worked more consistantly than my T moble iPhone 12 on the ride in. Basically if you go to the "woods" or "mountains" the signal is not as strong as the city. I dreamed of fixing that on my luxurious pillow.

Overall experirence and recommedations are 5/5 0r 10/10 , Had doubts, no...
