Tesla drivers beware. 44 miles left in my Tesla I drove to this place from Jasper High school after Saturday baseball tournament 4:00 pm. Tesla sent us here on the map. We were also wanting to sleep over for the night. As our next Sunday tourney was an Hour away from here. This was the closest one on the tesla map! When I arrived there, there was no one there! Thank GoD it was still daylight around 430. You can tell It's very dark and reception not great. I went to the check in the place Knocked all doors. One car there, It was abandoned! 3 phone devices kept losing reception. Owner did answer her cellphone which is this number on this sight. She was out of town! Really!? So unprofessional to not have a person to make reservations or turn charge stations on. Out of town in Houston getting a propane tank and at that moment was now 5:30pm She was cooking dinner as well?! It is now pouring and getting dark!! No one at the property. The charging tesla station and EV ports they have there do not work and charge as slow as the lowest ports charging 4 miles an hour. She was nice to allow us to use their side garage outlets with my port I have in car, but decided to leave when she said she couldn't get us a room there!! Again so unprofessional! I was with my baseball player and daughter. Inn the pouring rain with our attachment and 17 miles in back country roads with no one around!!!! I drove on a main road saw a sign 7 miles left jasper or right Woodville. A nice lady and man in a truck pulling a small boat said go to walmart and there is also a holiday inn express!!! Drove to holiday inn with 1 mile left and got a room and I was able to get tesla charger that charged my car overnight!!! Tesla drivers Do not risk coming here! Even if u use your port it is not enough charge not even overnight staying if you used the one the car gives you the bag. Don't waste your time here if u need To come for tesla charging station. Go to Holiday Inn they have two! Both places you will have to stay over. This place their port did not activate charge! You risk getting port locked in your charging port. The winding roads have no lights so be-careful. In the rain getting out of there can be dangerous. If u have a low car with the rain showers it was starting to flood around the property. There was no sign or notice of this place open or closed for business! Very unprofessional!!! Tesla charging station has no sign of power! Tesla needs to remove this business from map. It does have bad reviews stating awful experience with owner having to turn the port on. So it seems that the owners who live on property are not there or don't have help to book you or accommodate you if they are out of town. Don't drive there. Go to Holiday Inn in main town if you are stranded and need to be in city and nearby stores. I went there as an emergency and not open for business and not have notifications on line is NOT a professional place of business! I spoke to the owner who was sorry out of town & she was cooking dinner so she couldn't talk at that moment. Sorry very unprofessional! Not nice to not mention Holiday INN or their 2 charger!!! She claimed she was going to try to turn it on and when the light came on it didn't work. She said she would try to turn it on via computer. I don't believe that to be true. Supposedly when THEY are there it gets turned on for you!! No sure I believe that either. Don't get stuck going there with more risk of not getting a room or a proper charge to your electric car or tesla car. Save the trip and go to HOLIDAY INN Express An IHG Hotel with two working Tesla charging stations. Again it's also only for guest staying there, but Holiday INN is understanding and allows you to use it for a couple hours to get you to your next location. Flat bed Tows hard to find in this area. Jasper is more a city than Woodville. Plan accordingly & don't trust this place for Tesla Charging station & booking NOT being used for a long long time! Eery feeling there at night. Sorry for review hope this save's another person...
Read moreWe are a family of three. We spent two nights at La Paz Bed and Breakfast in East Texas. Scenic location on the Angelina River. This is a professionally run operation of a cabin and a number of bedrooms in a large new house. Clean rooms, hearty breakfasts. The house is decorated with taste and looks a little like a museum with old cameras and artifacts displayed in the main lobby and halls. The owners keep working to improve the grounds and the river bank. So, why only two stars? Because we ended-up paying more than we initially agreed for and the prices charged (in our case $202/night in March) did not reflect the value we got. We were accommodated in a room with four beds and a bathroom. The first night we used one double bed and a single bed. The next night, our daughter decided to try another bed further from the window. So, in total, we used three of the four beds in the room. At the end of our stay, we found out that we were charged for the number of beds used rather than for the room. There was no warning sign on their website or in the room to let us know that they charge per "messed-up bed". They did not let us know about this practice until we paid the bill at the end of our stay. This is also a highly unusual practice in the industry. In this country we normally rent rooms not beds. When we choose to spend time at a bed and breakfast place, we are looking for meeting a friendly family, for being in a hospitable home environment and building a relationship. Otherwise, we would go to a hotel. In this case, we ended-up paying more than we initially agreed to, a first class hotel price for a place that is still only a bed and breakfast. We could not trust that there was genuine hospitality where we paid more than we agreed to and the services were overpriced. We had a very restful stay, but we left this B & B with a sour taste in our mouth. We were so disappointed with their business ethics. ...
Read moreI was privileged to be the presenter for a special wine dinner at The Bird and Butterfly Inn located on the Angelina River just outside Jasper, TX. Twenty guests were invited to attend and enjoy the delicious wines of Brennan Vineyards (Comanche, TX) and the culinary artistry of chef and co-owner Mikelyn Wustman. This was a highlight event held in a great place with fabulous food, delicious Brennan Vineyards wines, and a group of wonderful people. Thank you Christa Halliburton, GM for Brennan Vineyards, for co-presenting and delivering all the wine. The Inn is an amazing place set in the piney woods with both impressive indoor and outdoor spaces. There are lovely decks (one designed for weddings) and an outdoor kitchen beside and below the Inn. The rooms are immaculately decorated, comfortable, so clean, with superb beds and bedding that beckon for a most restful night. All the amenities one could expect are available. The common rooms are lovely with a large separate sitting room beneath the long staircase leading to upstairs rooms, and a breakfast room just off the kitchen in which to share the yummy breakfast fare prepared by chef Mikelyn and served by Chuck Wustman, her husband, co-owner, and manager of the Inn. My wife and traveling companion, Sherry, truly enjoyed our visit and stay in the Allison Room (first floor, king bed). The Inn is a lovely place nestled among the pines and a truly comfortable, very special place to stay while enjoying a visit to East Texas. So, to our hosts, Mikelyn and Chuck, and their staff, we offer our sincere appreciation. Until next time, thank you to The Bird and Butterfly Inn. #birdbutterflyinn #BrennanVineyards...
