We stayed in a regular cabin, 3rd week of April. It wasn’t crowded, people were friendly and the campground was clean and maintained. We saw a guy running equipment and cleaning up downed branches. The cabins were very basic with 3in mattress pads. We found that using our own backpacking pads on top of them was helpful since we’re older and hurt more. The fire rings were clean and they do sell firewood in the little store for $10. They have everything you may have forgotten but it’s pricey. There is WiFi too. My biggest concern was the bathrooms. To my surprise they were very clean and updated. The shower was hot and lots of pressure from a newer shower head. They clean them everyday. The park has a great playground for the kids. Bring a space heater. Unless it’s in the warm months, you will definitely need it. We used a small one that wasn’t quite enough on a 42° night. If you want a nightstand type of thing to put your stuff, bring something. There is only a ceiling fan light and beds. We loved it and the area is beautiful . The front desk ladies were very nice and helpful and it looks like they’re still working on improvements. Highly recommend it.

⭐ 1 out of 5 stars Disappointing and Misleading—Definitely Not a “Resort” Not sure why this place is called a “resort” — it’s not even a great campground. There are numerous permanent residents with old campers, many of which were in poor condition. Oddly enough, some had really nice wooden decks — nicer than the campers they were attached to. The one next to us was covered in green and brown mold, which made the whole area feel more like a rundown trailer park. Just beyond a thin line of trees, there’s an actual trailer park — and those homes looked to be in better shape than the campground itself. The facilities left a lot to be desired: Picnic tables were old and worn Fire rings were rusted out and falling apart Roads and campsites were poorly marked — more like uneven dirt and grass paths than actual roads The only bright spot was the staff, who were super friendly and kind. All of this, and it was still one of the more expensive campgrounds in the area. Definitely wouldn’t return or recommend.

This place was great we had a really good time but the only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because we got cabin 6 and there was nowhere to park our van and it was the ONLY cabin on a decent slant downward. Our children fell off their chairs a few times. We requested a different site but unfortunately we were told all the cabins were booked up. The staff was very friendly and always available. The did give us a little bit of a hard time about our dog being on-site not tied up. He didn't leave our camp site but they wanted him on a leash even sitting by the fire with us which is fine rules are rules I suppose! We would return. The walk to the lake was ling but we'll worth it. Some of the most beautiful sites I've ever seen in my life. The kids had a great time and really that's all we wanted! The little store was great and fully stocked with coffee and anything you may need!

We spent 5 lovely nights in mid-October at Jim Thorpe Camping Resort. Our only critique is that this campground is quite tight, even with our little 20-foot travel trailer (i.e., our picnic table was 3-feet from our neighbor’s sewer hose and the end of our awning was about 10 feet from touching our neighbor’s camper). For context, we were at site 61 when looking at the campground map. ||That being said, the trees are big, beautiful, and provide ample shade for each site. The trees were especially stunning when we stayed because they were at their peak color change. The campground is also just a short 2-mile drive from the historic town of Jim Thorpe, which is chock full of cute shops and delicious restaurants. Jim Thorpe was having their immensely popular Fall Festival on the weekend days that we camped, with parking available only on the outskirts of town and shuttle busses being provided for attendees. For folks who enjoy hiking, you can skip the expensive parking and shuttles. On one side of the campground, you can pick up the Switchback Trail (make a left once you cross the pedestrian bridge out of the campground) and walk about 2.4 scenic miles into town for the festivities. We hiked into town on a Friday morning (not an official Fall Festival day), and the town was still packed – not anything like it was over the weekend though, we heard. If you instead make a right onto Switchback Trail, you will have a lovely 4-mile loop trail to Mauch Chunk Lake. There are lots of other things to do nearby too if you would like to use the campground more like a base camp; just check out the “Things To Do” link on the campground’s website. ||Even though the campground was at or near capacity over the weekend we stayed, guests were respectful of quiet hours. It was a bit noisy during the daytime, with everyone sure sounding like they were having a great time - GOOD noise of folks laughing and children playing! Apparently, local scouts turn the campground pavilion into a haunted house during the last 2 weekends of October. We had no idea (no one told us when we checked in) and wouldn’t have known if we didn’t walk our dogs by the pavilion. That looked like a fun haunted house for the young ones. ||The campground store was bright, clean, and well-stocked. The staff members were friendly and gave us great advice about the trails and things to do in the opposite direction of the fall festival. We are glad we chose Jim Thorpe Camping Resort for this season’s...

We had a nice time tent camping here. Beautiful area and close to town. Lots to see. CONS: The pool/tent site bathroom was filthy, cobwebs and bugs galore. A large spider was devouring a moth right in front of me while I sat on the toilet!! And the tent sites were on top of each other and very rocky. (Lots of prep work before tarp lay out) PROS: The office bathroom/shower was clean. Cleanest shower stall at a campsite I've ever seen. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The resort has a rule about being too noisy and playing music too loud. The tenters next to us were very loud until 1:00 a.m. and there were alcohol containers all over the ground the next morning. We did not know that there was a different phone number to call after hours, so we suffered through their rudeness until they passed out drunk!! In the morning we went over to the office to inform management and were told that there were other campers who complained about that site as well. We were assured that as soon as the owner got there, the rude campers were going to be evicted!! We went to town for breakfast and when we got back the rude campers were gone! What a relief knowing that we were not going to have to suffer another night of their inconsiderate behavior!! Management said that everyone who checks in signs a contract with the rules typed out on the contract. One of the first rules is QUIET HOURS ARE FROM 11:00 PM TO 7:00 AM, RESPECT OTHER CAMPERS NO LOUD MUSIC ALCOHOL USE IS ALLOWED BUT BE DISCREET DOGS MUST BE KEPT LEASHED AT ALL TIMES. VIOLATORS WILL NOT BE TOLERATED, THEY WILL BE ASKED TO LEAVE IMMEDIATELY. That's pretty easy to understand. Thank you management. We will be...

The owners seriously need some help. Unbelievably rude and arrogant. We arrived for a weekend stay, were shown to our cabin, and proceeded to unload our gear. This was our third time camping in Jim Thorpe, and never had an issue thus far. This time, however, was different.

From the moment we got there, it felt like we were being treated with more scrutiny. Dirty looks from the residents, staff driving by our cabin (specifically) multiple times in order to keep an eye on us, etc. Not even an hour had gone by, and we were being screamed at by staff and told to pack up in 15 minutes or else cops would arrive (they apparently have a rule saying they are allowed to kick you out for any reason, day or night, with no refund). We tried being apologetic, saying that this was all a huge misunderstanding and we would be happy to sort everything out. They didn’t let us get a single word in and proceeded to say all sorts of nasty/hurtful stuff to us in front of the other campers who were trying to check in. Talk about a lack of awareness.

After being embarrassed like that, we decided it wasn’t worth it anymore and loaded up our cars. We drove almost 3 hours to get there, and the owner wouldn’t even let us regroup in the PARKING LOT. Our group told him we were just looking for another place to stay. His response was, “I don’t care, that’s not my problem. Get the f— off my property. Have a safe trip”.

Save yourself the time, gas, and headache and please choose a different campground if you don’t want to be hassled/scammed out of your money. No one deserves to be treated/spoken to that way. Plenty of other...
