We stayed a week in August and have decided Jimmie Davis State Park has raised the bar for state parks! They’ve done some upgrades after storm damage that makes this park a fun place to visit. Many of the sites have been upgraded to level concrete pads that are long enough to easily back in and have room to park the vehicle. You are not on top of each other, the sites have plenty of room, with a picnic table and fire pit. They added a disc golf course that is challenging and fun. They also added a splash pad to their day use area that has a great sandy beach and swim area. Having a clean laundry room was such a surprise and a plus to find in a state park! AC in the bathhouse really ups the game for all other state parks. In all other state parks you need a shower after showering and getting dressed in a hot and humid bathhouse, so the AC was very much appreciated! Thanks for a fantastic stay,...

I think this park deserves much more credit. Nothing is rebuilt over night. Love the hammocks. You could grab a book and read in the hammock under the shade in the fall for hours. Thanks for that add on, I look forward to that. My kids of course love the pad and the beach. I have seen other reviews say the park was dirty. There are a lot more visitors than staff. Visitors are littering. We have to teach our kids to walk a few feet to the trash can even when they are excited and distracted. Maybe a few littering signs would help. Sadly sometimes even adults have to be reminded. The park can’t control the fronts, or how the water is going to look. That’s just silly. If it rains it may look a little dirtier for a day or two. It’s a lake lol You can’t control nature. Regardless, my kids love it here and will continue coming as long...

Eller's no sanitation hookups of the sites so I took a point off because that was an inconvenience. The community bath houses were nice buildings were nice but the maintenance of the inside of the bathrooms was less than desirable multiple times I walked in the morning to dirty bathrooms or over overflowing toilets if you're not going to allow sewage hookups at the sites your bath houses have to be pristine I deducted a half point for that. The final half a point reduction was as you went to the community drop of greywater and Blackwater there was no hand washing station to clean your hands after you completed your dumping if you're going to require a dumping station and not have sanitation hookups at the sites you got to provide the conveniences utilize the dumping station because the next step is to drive...

This State Park is very nice. It has a beach, dock, boat launch, camping sites for tents/ RV, cabins, lodge & trails. I would recommend this place to others. Update 2/2023: the cabins have wi-fi & are nice to stay in. The cabins provide some amenities such as cups, plates, utensils, bed sheets, towels and rags, etc. If you plan to cook probably should bring what you plan to cook with. The waterside views are beautiful and offers great photo opportunities at sunset. They have a fireplace in the cabins, which is great during winter. The park also has 2 boat launches, fishing piers, docks at the cabins, beach, hiking trails, public restrooms and camping/ RV areas. Plenty of opportunities to see wildlife & relax.
