Upon entering the building, you are greeted with a beautiful lobby and the scent of new construction, refreshing. The entire place is clean and welcoming, including the rooms & bathroom. The room offers a desk with USB outlets and the beds are firm. Breakfast from 7-10am offers; waffles, bagels, muffins, fresh apples/bananas, yogurt, juice, coffee, hot tea, scrambled eggs, sausage and potatoes. There is an old motel behind the place. I am not sure if it is still in operation. It didnt appear to be. Subway restaurant is across the street to the right of the hotel. The rest area and Colorado Welcome center is across from the parking lot. The parking lot has a large area for larger vehicles and trucks & trailers with easy pull through access. The location is right off i76 and close to i80. You can't beat what you get for the price! My only negatives are: (petty) no towel for stepping out of the shower (We hand to lay down a tiny hand towel), the shower was out of body wash (thankfully we had brought our own) and the breakfast bar didn't offer cereal, milk or toast. Definitely no deal breakers and had I had time, I would have requested missing items. Overall we had a great stay & a welcome rest from a day of traveling.

This is my 2nd stay here in Julesburg, CO. The first time was in April 2025. It was wonderful and enjoyed my time. The employees were knowledgeable in regards to my service animal 5 stars. This time, Clayton has been rude to me demanded medical documentation which is against the Federal Law.(But I carry it anyway) Jordon, from Dakota, told Clayton he couldn't charge me a fee for my Service Animal and took the fee off. Clayton since I walked in the door has been rude yelled at me refused to give me his name. While yelling at me he said he couldn't possibly know my animal was a Service Animal. I told him yes he could by asking me the 2 questions allowed by law. I have taken pictures of my room today and will again when we leave for fear of retribution! I won't be staying here again. Clayton also made me put a cc up for incidentals which last time I paid for as I bought snacks.

Every hotel should have 2 suitcase valets & larger in room trashcans. Biggest goof in design for this wonderful Inn was the lighting in room. Bedside lights only go off if you turn off main door switch that turns on both the overhead light over microwave area, so if you want bedside lights on you gotta have blinding overhead light on h then have to get out of bed to turn light off. Big oversight in electrical design. Also they offer alcohol & limited food for snacks, but have no saran wrap or foil to take leftovers back to room. Then front desk person is checking people in and cooking food & cleaning up. Rooms are nice but could use a chair. Nice bedding & bath.

I will start this by saying I am not a guest, I was (momentarily) an employee.

So let’s start on my “first” day. I walk all the way to the hotel and as soon as I enter Tyree lets me know training has been rescheduled. I’m obviously (but not visibly—I remained very respectful this time) irritated given it’s an hour walk from town. But hey, it’s a new hotel they are very unorganized so BENEFIT OF DOUBT right? So I respectfully say no problem and walk all the way back home. To his credit, he did offer me a ride but I did not want to inconvenience him (ironic) so I kindly declined and walked home.

Cut to the 2nd, we do some training from 9-4 and are told to come back the next day at 1pm to continue training. Surprise, I walk up there AGIAN only to find out they rescheduled once more. He lets me know they tried calling me to cancel and I check my phone to see I DID miss a call… 15min before I was supposed to show up. So at this point I’m pissed given the blatant lack of consideration shown towards employees (especially so early into employment) and in this moment of heightened emotion my options felt like I could either fully express how ridiculous and inconsiderate they are/have been OR I could say ok and walk away so that is what I did.

He tried calling out however, I continued to walk off bc like I said IN THAT MOMENT if I had to communicate verbally I would have definitely been fired and so I’m thinking (naïvely) that they will understand my frustration given they knew I walked and that we can just “start fresh” on THEIR SECOND LAST MINUTE rescheduling.

Cut to today where I was supposed to go in at 1pm again so I called at 12pm to verify training is actually proceeding and was let know that I essentially walked off the job and was terminated. I explained my frustration, apologized for (somewhat) mishandling the interaction and then literally begged this man to give me a second chance, but he declined. I proceeded to try and highlight the irony in how an employee would never get to just call in on the spot/15 till TWICE without being reprimanded; however, when it’s the boss disregarding the employees who cares right?

Anyway, all this is to say I can acknowledge that walking off was not the appropriate response (despite it being the better of how I WANTED to respond, bc I wanted to tell them about themselves bc if management doesn’t get checked or held accountable in anyway how can you expect your employees to behave better?) however, understand that this is a workplace where management is very unorganized, and immediately displays signs of being inconsiderate regarding their employees.

Another random note, when I was having the conversation with Tyree over the phone he said that I said my walk is 15-20 minutes which I NEVER said so I’m not sure if that was a misunderstanding or him just blatantly lying to downplay the situation. However, my stance stands. Even if I drove, THEY as MANAGEMENT metaphorically speaking slapped me in the face twice via blatant displays of inconsideration and simply expected the brainwashed “oh no problem!” type of response from me. Again, this would never fly if the roles were reversed.

Mind you I was very considerate given it’s a new hotel so not everything is in order. That said, Cobblestone is a chain… not some ma and pa opening up their first hotel. There is no excuse on their part and if I get to be held accountable for my actions, the least I can do is publicly share my experience with them (which I’m sure won’t impact them in any real way anyway) so you can make an informed decision as far as working or...

Spacious rooms, comfortable beds, great location. Enjoyed the breakfast, the older woman handling the food area Saturday morning was very friendly and went out of her way to interact with guests. She was very hospitable and ensured we had everything we needed. I also liked the snack area in the lobby. Great selection for a quick need.

The GM and other team members were quick to complain to me about their dissatisfaction with the working conditions. Short staffed was a common concern. I was told by the young GM that he has fired 20 people since they opened because no one in Julesburg wants to work. Another employee on Saturday morning told me that the Friday night shift didn’t properly do their job so he had to pull both housekeepers to help with laundry vs cleaning rooms. I also witnessed several nights that the front desk person is in charge of checking in guests, doing laundry, taking out trash, cleaning the lobby, running the bar, and cooking food all at the same time on the night shift. It took 40 minutes to get our air fried food that was overcooked. The GM also did not seem to be properly trained in the hospitality industry. You should never share with guests the issues going on behind the scenes, even when a guest complains or has concerns. Just thank them for the feedback and say you will raise their concerns with corporate. You must stay positive and friendly at all times. I literally felt like I was being scolded by asking to use the juice machine in order to make my evening cocktail. You make more money off your juice machine in a mixed drink bar tab than you probably do during the breakfast hour. Also, if you are going to offer a bar service, then you need to provide better training to your team. I was given double shots one night and single shots the next in my drinks.

Overall this is a great stay, the staff just needs more support to ensure a positive employee and guest...

What an amazing interlude! Right off the freeway. And in the cutest little town of Julesburg. What can I say? My hubby and I stopped here - mostly because we had stayed at a Cobblestone in Iowa 6 months ago and saw this one. As we had fond memories of the Iowa Cobblestone - we decided to continue on to Julesburg. Our original destination had been Ogallala, but so glad we drove just another 30 miles. I made over the phone reservations as I was driving - and Liz was great. She looked up our account, she put us on the top floor NOT next to elevator as requested. We arrived at 3:00 pm - and the guy at the front desk was a dog lover and welcomed us in. The charge per night for a dog was $25 and so worth it. Out room was PERFECT. So clean. Such comfortable beds. Spotless shower and all soaps and shampoos filled. Such a quiet place. Such a great night sleep. And the breakfast - just perfect! It just happened to be my hubby's bday - and the guy at the reception desk said that the hotel had appetizers - or a place in town. We chose a place in town. A town of about 200 people!!! But the little restaurant was juist a kick. He got a roast beef dinner smothered in grave for $14!!! And breakfast at the Cobblestone - it was terrific. Again - very clean. We were so impressed - and a lot had to do with the price!!! Where can you find an amazing place with many amentities for the price they are asking? I am thinking other companies need to look at the Cobblestone...
