Warning: Long review. To put things into perspective, I will give a little bit of a background on what landed me at this hotel. My partner and I are in the process of having a house built. Due to the current pandemic, a few of our contractors are not able to put the finishing touches on until after Labor Day. We already sold our current home so we needed a hotel room for a month. We have been staying at the Comfort Inn & Suites on the speedway for almost a month now. This experience has been a nightmare. When I first met the manager of this location I thought we were in good hands due to her professionalism and polite attitude. This was poor judgment on my part. So far we have changed rooms a total of three times. The first room was in a middle hallway and there was a youth soccer team in the hotel as well. Throughout the night the girls kept running around knocking on doors and making a lot of noise. We ignored it but decided the next day that we should move to another location because I work during the day from this hotel and I needed a little bit more quiet. In the next room we were next door to a city worker who would not stop smoking in his bathroom. Smoke was constantly filling up our bathroom and seeping out into our room. We explained this to the front desk they claimed they did not smell smoke. Exasperated and out of other options, we decided to pay extra to upgrade to a corner room on the top floor. As soon as we entered the room we noticed there was not a comforter on the bed. We reported this to the front desk and the housekeeper actually questioned us like we removed it from the bed (keep in mind at this point we have spent over $1,000 at this hotel why in the world would we take a disgusting comforter). After we reported the missing comforter we noticed our television did not work. Once again we went down to the front desk and reported this and after questions one of the managers brought us the TV from the office. Six days later we woke up to a leaking roof and a nonworking television. We reported it and the young lady on the front desk told us she doesn't know what to do and the manager will be in later. At this point you have to understand the level of frustration that we are feeling. We have spent nearly $2,000 at this hotel so far there have been few apologies and when we report something that is wrong the staff treats us like we are the ones who are inconveniencing them. We have cleaned our own rooms, we even make our own beds, and we keep to ourselves. We work during the day so there is no reason for us to be treated this way. We have not received any type of discount on this room. I was not going to leave a review about my experience because I just chalked it up to maybe this just being a bad month. But after this morning I am beyond frustrated. We reported the leak and the nonworking television to Alyssa at 7 a.m. this morning. It is now after 11 a.m. no one has contacted us or done anything to resolve the issue. Alyssa's attitude was poor and unhelpful. The customer service here is horrible. When we walk into the hotel no one acknowledges or even greet us. We already paid in advance for our room so we are pretty much stuck. The fact that I am still in this hotel and writing this review should let you know how terrible this experience has been. The beds sleep comfortably, the air conditioner is pleasant enough, and the bagged cold breakfast is convenient. On the other hand, those pleasantries are out shadowed by the negative customer service and lack of empathy. This hotel may be fine for a short stay. However, if your on business and looking for a longer stay, I do not recommend this hotel. The pictures uploaded depicts the leak that was in our room. Thank you for taking time out to read my review. I hope you found it informative.
9.4.20 Manager: I must have struck a nerve. Your establishment did not go above and beyond to accommodate me or my guest. In addition, we spoke to numerous patrons who reported their televisions were working just fine. Please tell the truth when you respond...
Read moreWe stayed on Friday July 12th and at first we were pretty happy, first floor handicap room we enjoy the extra room plus we had our pets with us and can only have first floor rooms because of this, right after check in we got our things in the room turned down the AC as it was stuffy when we walked in and then went to meet my mom and daughter for lunch and some shopping at Legends, my daughter in law wanted to go back to the room to take the kids for a swim while the rest of us stayed at Legends and texted us that the pool was freezing cold to cold for the kids to stay in too long so she came back to legends to rejoin us, we decided to have dinner and then returned to the hotel at around 9:00pm and the room was stifling, I went to the front desk and informed them that the AC was not working in our room and all I got was " why didn't you tell us sooner" well we were out doing stuff with family, so she said she would send Thomas to look at it. About 20 hot minutes later he showed up, at this point I opened the door to the room to just let in some cool hall air, about 30 minutes and some WD40 later he said ok it should get cooler in bit and left, well that did not happen, So I went back to the front desk profusely sweating and said nope it's not cooler at all, so she said we'll the AC unit probably needs to be replaced and would my son help Thomas lift it into place cause it would be too heavy for her, he said yes. She was also looking at my reservation on the computer and said that the person who checked me in didn't charge me the pet fee and I know that I signed a waiver about our pets but said she would not charge me the pet fee which is $45 tacked on top of the 199.00 I was paying for the room, well I don't think that was enough of a discount for everything that went down, basically out of our room for 2 hours in the late evening, a very hot humid evening, with two young children and two dogs. I will say the lady that checked us in was very pleasant, and besides the very cold pool and the AC debacle and the marijuana smell at times, it wasn't a bad place to stay, though not worth $200 a night. I also asked to speak to a manager at check out and was told they would be at the desk at 3 pm and took my name and number and have still not heard...
Read moreScummy and scammy. With many stays and only two previous negative experiences, we have always had good luck with Choice Hotels but we are going another route from here on out because a lack of quality control.
We are very disappointed with the stay here. For a higher end price for the "cheaper" hotels, it is not a place I can recommend. It was worth fifty bucks tops. I have stayed at many hotels that allow pets, and you can't tell the difference from a non pet friendly hotel, but the way this place DOES NOT MAINTAIN the pet wing is disgusting.
See faults below but the scammy part is when they claim a $40 pet fee on their website but actually charge 45 PLUS FEES. So 52. Never before have I been charged extra occupancy fees for my dog, especially when we are under the room limit allowance. They don't charge extra occupancy fees for my husband and child but for the miniature poodle? Yeah, right. SCAM.
More bad: faulty key card room door that took heruclean effort to open buzzing all night from from something hot breakfast that was severely limited in choices *nasty tasting water at breakfast bar dirty bathroom sink *old and dirty couches and chairs in the room. Scummy. no freezer in fridge for ice packs *poor water pressure funny smell in hallway and in the entry to our room (127) *stained carpet all down the hallway looks like animals have urinated or thrown up at will with no clean up. I have an airbnb and this is unacceptable anywhere. Just because we own a dog doesn't mean we live in filth. The whole wing is scummy. Poor location that is difficult to get to off the freeway. No eating places close. No pet disposable bags like all other hotels have (what is the pet fee for because they aren't using it for cleaning?) *Area used for smoking right outside the door (This should be elswhere so guests don't have to breathe it in.)
The good: No bedbugs Good orange juice Beds aren't too uncomfortable Small pillows but decent
We have friends who tease us that we are not picky about staying at cheap hotels, but this is too much. Just no. Choice Hotels. Never again. Three fails in a row is a strikeout....
