Before I write this review, I do want a preference by saying that for 15 years now my family has come To Kelly’s Island every single year and we have stayed in this resort for 10 years of those 15 years.
This hotel is not the same as it was when it first opened When It first opened the owner seemed to have taken really good care of it, I remember there always being groundskeepers and maintenance people always constantly working on the beautiful landscape, cleaning and just overall providing comfort and cleanliness. The landscaping was so beautiful there was A spectacular garden where butterflies would nestle, and as you walk to the pool, it was like walking into a greenhouse. I don’t know how long the front waterfalls have not been running for, but that was always a staple to take pictures in front of because of the beautiful flowers and the creeks coming down in front of the Kelly’s Island sign. It was amazing to just be here. It almost felt magical, The place was so well kept and just felt like a getaway.
However, as it was continuously being sold, each owner just got worse and worse they started taking away the beautiful landscaping, and you can tell that the staff here has just gone down the hill. The pool doesn’t get cleaned as much, and I just felt like the magic has slowly been stripped away from this gorgeous place. Each year there’s just something that has taken away when we came here this year unfortunately there was always the free coffee and tea that was always provided up until 2025. It’s just the little things that they change and take away that we always would look forward to every single year.
I can understand why people are opting for an Airbnb experience on Kelly’s Island. This place just doesn’t feel the same and I wish that everyone would be able to experience the magic that was here when it had first opened. I have included before and after...
Read moreI had left a message a couple of days ago and someone by the name of Sarah I believe (honestly I don't really care what her name was) was really rude to me and I was taken back by it. I said, " oh hi thank you so much for calling me back. She says, What did you need". Really that's how you talk to someone who may be a potential paying customer? I told her that my sister was getting married in July and was wanting to stay on Kelly's Island for her bachelorette party. Before I could say anything else she says, "I'm going to stop you right there" (wow) We don't allow bachelorette parties to stay here. This is a family oriented place it's listed on our website". I said oh okay well I didn't look on your website, that's why I'm calling you because I had a few questions first before I booked rooms and we're not l that type of bachelorette party and there are not really any other options to stay at on Kelly's Island for one night. We just wanted something for one night." I mean really there was no reason for her to be rude and demeaning towards me all because I asked a question regarding a bachelorette party. It was truly unnecessary and she could have spoken to me in a better manner and handled it more professionally. This was a turn off and I don't believe I want to ever stay...
Read moreWe stayed at Kelly's Island Venture Resort June 29, 30, 2016. While the grounds are beautiful, the pool very clean, and the view of the lake lovely, we feel it was very overpriced, considering the lack of some of the expected amenities for a resort. Price was $285.00 for a Thursday night. The beds have spreads, as opposed to coverings that can be washed for each new guest. The mattresses are okay, but not luxuriously comfortable as you would find in a first class hotel. There is no continental breakfast. We arrived an hour early before check-in and were told one cannot check in early. When we asked if they could find out from housekeeping if our room was perhaps ready, they said don't do that. Suites have a window air conditioning in one room that serves for both rooms. Our suite did have a fridge, microwave, and coffee maker, and plenty of room. Shower/tub lacks non-slip footing. If you call a place a "Resort," I expected things like an exercise room, restaurant, and great hospitality. This is a clean motel with a pool...
