First time playing The Ridge. Gentlemen at the starting house were pleasant and helpful. Still awaiting completed clubhouse, second nine, and practice range, but these shortcomings were soon forgotten! This course is amazing- the best nine hole course I have ever played. The course winds up to a ridge, down to the valley. If you like calculating elevation changes with exposed winds, and playing holes that can stretch over 7200 yds for 18 while surrounded by stunning mountain views, then you will love this course. Fairways are nice, greens roll true and fast enough, and yes you can shorten it up with 4 tee boxes available. This course is Wine Valley crossed with Circling Raven and put up in the beautiful Idaho mountains! In my view this has at least 6 holes that are better than the best holes at the Raven. Both par 3s drop 100 feet plus, one up wind, one down! Definitely worth the trip!!! Please owners: finish that second nine!! This one can be a golf destination!! It is that good! I could easily see a dual stay and play combo with the CdA resort or the Raven! That would be a golfers dream- I’d skip my annual Chambers trip for that in a minute!! Come and try Galena- you...
Read moreIf your looking for a good challenge this is the course for you great fairways and awesome greens they rolled smooth and true. But i docked them to 3 stars because the tee boxes need to be better marked or re painted it was hard to tell them apart. And the bunkers were very inconsistent with sand amount and they were full of rocks i tossed out several baseball size rocks out of one of them. Especially the one that was hidden under my ball that I managed to unearth. I was certainly not happy about that. We new the course would be tough and thats OK. But I do say I had a much more enjoyable experience at shoshone golf couse thats just 5...
Read moreThis is by far my favorite 9 hole in the US. If it was 18, it could be absolute favorite. You will notice even when you drive up the well paved road, this was going to be a destination golf course. They just never finished the back nine and there is no club house, which I feel adds to the outstanding feel of nature golf. The views are stunning, tee blocks impeccable, fairways and greens were ideal. If you have ever played the wilderness club in Montana, you will feel like you are there. There is only one house on number 7, besides that, you are out in nature playing some very challenging and outstanding golf. Play it again...
