I thought it would be a lot better than it was, honestly. But the biggest issue we had was that we didn't wear our snow boots because the guy at the lodge said we wouldn't need them because the snow was packed and it wasn't that cold up there. Wrong. Maybe when we got there, but by the time we had finished lunch the snow was mint down so heavily that you couldn't see any of the surrounding hills anymore and the fresh powder melted into our shoes because we listened and left our snow boots behind.
The food in the restaurant was pretty decent and cheaper than I thought it might be, given it's the only food at the top of the mountain. And they even had a vegetarian/keto-friendly option of cauliflower! The appetizers were a good size for lunch, so a burger wasn't necessary.
On the equipment rentals, they seemed decently priced, but this is coming from someone who has never been skiing before in my life, so it's not like I really have a good way of determining that. It said $34 for an adult for all day, so if the day hadn't been half over already and if the visibility hadn't plummeted due to the snow coming down, we probably would have gone for it.
But I really expected there to be a better place to hang out around a fire place or something cool like that. Maybe there was and I just never happened upon it, but I didn't see anything like that, myself, and that's really something I was hoping for. They have that story of thing at the resort, but I didn't see it up on the mountain.
Check out the picture to see the slopes, the lodge, and the view from the gondola....
ย ย ย Read moreVentured here for the Ride & Dine, first time for the family and with out of town friends as well. The gondola trip up and down was very picturesque and interesting (4 stars). Nice venue to chat and gaze. We arrived at the top for music and food. The views at the top were great but the "dine" scene was utterly dissapointing. Lack of tables to sit at outside and the food portions were meager and I am no glutton. Each food offering was cold and blamd and they ran out of the vaunted huckleberry ribs to boot. Never a good thing when people are holding plates of food wondering where to set it down and eat. The music was decent, low lawn chairs sparsly sat it. With slightly more thought to details, planning and execution this could be an amazing repeat destination instead of a curiosity with high expectations that only serves as an excersize in how not to do things. Over all a great means of transportation to a captive spot on a mountain where mediocrity was the dish and song of the day. Silver Mt. Team, let me help make...
ย ย ย Read moreSkiied Thursday, April 4, had a good time! There was a few inches of powder the previous night and snow was quality. Lines were pretty much nonexistent. I will say that a decent bit of the resort was closed, mostly the advanced stuff like blacks and almost all the double blacks, probably due to lack of snow but Iโm not sure. Additionally, Chair 5 and its slopes were closed. There was enough snow, I could see it from the gondola, but I donโt know if it was closed due to lack of labor to operate Chair 5. For anyone going to ski the first time, almost all of the blues are wide but steeper than typical blues. Wide turns for less advanced skiers necessary. Overall, I was able to get a lift ticket and rentals at the window for about $100, which is a good deal compared to other resorts. Lastly, I wanted to shout out a few employees. Olivia helped work Chair 1 and she was very outgoing and friendly. And Kevin in the rental area was kind and helpful for me getting my skis...
