EXPERIENCE: We reserved a "superior queen" due to the description of it being an upgraded room, on the top levels of the inn. Upon arrival we were assigned to room 102. I hesitated but decided I would look at the room before discussing the confusion of it being on the ground level. We walked into the room and were immediately disappointed. The room was dark, cramped, and looked nothing like the picture online. The window was a full view of the front of someone's car. We went to the front desk to ask to be moved and the check in person said we could move to a "superior king" for $20/night extra or a "garden room" for the same price. I asked if we could have a lower rate due to the garden room being a lower rate on the website. I thought the upgraded room would be a better room, but I was very wrong. She told me she would give us a 10% discount since she was unable to change the room price. We agreed that this was acceptable, not great but acceptable. When we checked out the bill had the 10% off the current (more expensive than when we booked) rate making it cost more than our original room. I explained this and after some time the check out person was able to correct the first one's mistake. Having to explain that I was not happy with the room twice and that the price was wrong was not a pleasant expereience for someone who has never asked to be moved in a hotel before. ROOM: once in the garden room, it was a fairly nice room with a walk out door that was nice to get fresh air in. It wasn't the cleanest room I have stayed in. for example there was a substantial sand ring under the trashcan when we moved it to be able to get into the shower VIEW: excellent view of the ocean. OUTDOOR SPACE: the grounds were well maintained and gardens full of blooming flowers. The front porch does not have rocking chairs as the website showed. COMMON AREAS: nice views, lots of windows, obviously worn cushions and carpet, frequently seen were used tea/coffee mugs sitting around. BREAKFAST: meh. one morning there was a burned egg bake, the second no warm option. There was yogurt, browned fruit salad, store bought bagels and muffins, deli meat ham and cheese, and cereal. The kind of breakfast I expect from a $100/ night chain hotel. Overall the small room size, cleanliness of the room, cleanliness and comfort of the common areas, breakfast, and overall lack of attention to detail was not worth what we paid for the room. I felt the pictures online were misleading, I...
Read moreThe Beach House accommodated us at the last minute when a nearby hotel canceled our reservation, which we ended up being incredibly thankful for! There's a lovely B&B vibe as you enter and are greeted with coffee, tea, water, or lattes (available for your whole stay- also an ice machine with "the good ice"). The main area is comfortable and has a seating area to look out at the ocean, one to cozy up at the fireplace, and a table for playing games (there were several available). There's a sweet little gift shop with some unique gifts, a fantastic fragrance line I wish I had bought something from, sweatshirts, etc. John gave us great recommendations for dinner, and we chose Allison's which was delicious.
Our room was kind of basic but very comfortable. The comfortable robes made up for the tiny bathroom which was actually fine, and our mattress was super comfortable. We arrived during a nor'easter so the ocean view from our room was fantastic. We pulled the chairs up to the window and enjoyed a bottle of wine watching the enormous waves splash over the wall.
As we walked through the ground floor there were dehumidifiers in the hall and it smelled very musty so I'm not sure I would want to stay on the ground level, but the rest of the inn was lovely and we would happily stay there again. Minus one star for the small bathroom and the super musty ground floor which we definitely would not have wanted to stay on. Otherwise they have everything you could ask for from an...
Read moreMy wife and I had a horrible experience at the beach house. When we arrived to the beach house, we saw a note on the door telling us that we had to drive back through town to check in at another location. With the traffic occurring, we had to drive back to another location and check in; then had to go back to the beach house for our room. We wasted about an hour just driving back and forth. When we arrived to check in at this other location; the front desk said, “oh we’re sorry, you should have been emailed this when you reserved your room.” They didn’t seem too apologetic.
The room itself was dirty, smelled, and seemed very unkept. The pictures online are very deceiving and nothing seemed like it was supposed to be. Yes, there was AC, but it’s a wall unit and is extremely loud. The walls were extremely thin, so you could hear every single thing happening around the beach house.
After getting your response about the emails going out before check in. We never got any emails regarding the check in, nor did we get a confirmation email. The only email that we got was about the lack of amenities that would be in the room. We mentioned this to front desk and they kindly blew us off about not being told about where to check in. We would like for someone to personally contact us via email or phone number. We were fully charged for the room and since our stay was extremely unpleasant, we would like for this to be addressed...
