This is an overdue review (we stayed her at the end of July) but so well deserved. All I can say is go. Just go (although I will hate if this place gets so popular that we can't get in!) We have vacationed in Kennebunkport for years. This was our best experience. We arrived around 3:30 and upon check in to the well decorated reception area, we were offered cocktails and feshly baked cookies (they do this daily from 3-5 I believe). We sat outside in the rocking chairs and soaked in the beauty of this place, while Mark chatted with us - welcoming us to the property. We stayed in dog friendly cottage #2 with our cavapoo. Before leaving the reception area, we were handed a gift bag for the dog which included some treats and a chew toy (seriously...they think of everything!) Yes, they are small cottages - but WOW they are adorable. Beachy, cottage-y, vintage-y...they have such a cool vibe! We unpacked and found all the nooks and crannys to store clothes (shoes under the dresser, hanging clothes on back of door, etc) and went out to enjoy the pool. Again, they think of everything. The pool has sunscreen available, towels, a water station, floats and beautiful lounge chairs. The next day we easily checked out bikes and beach chairs and took a ride to Mothers Beach. We loved this convenience...as anyone familiar with the area knows that parking can be tough there in the summer. Sadly, it rained at night while we were there so we didn't get to enjoy the firepit (they even have s'mores kits available!) but it looked great and we'll definitely take part on our next visit. Now...we had casually mentioned upon check in that we were there for our anniversary. We didn't think anyone even really took note of this. The second day, after returning from being out - we walked into our room to find a bottle of Prosecco with a lovely handwritten note wishing us well. Amazing and so thoughtful! We were blown away. My only suggestion seems almost silly to mention with how much we love the place- but numerous hooks hanging around the rooms and in the bathroom would be a fabulous addition. It would provide the much needed spots to hang garments and towels. Having said that, even if they never did this - the place is wonderful. Oh...did I mention that they drop off breakfast every morning in these adorable bags too?! Muffins, yogurt, hard boiled eggs and juice. You can make coffee at the well appointed coffee bar in each cabin if you want that too. We couldn't wait to go back. In fact, we booked a room in September shortly after leaving. We're looking forward to being there for another fantastic experience with Mark and his great crew in a few weeks!

I had the pleasure of staying at The Wanderer in Kennebunk last week and it was amazing! I stayed for three nights in Cabin 8, Daydreamer. It was one of the studio cabins, right in the center of the property. I made it just in time for in-person check-in on a Sunday night. Katie at the front desk was very friendly and helpful and I felt like I knew her because she had called me the day before to verify my booking and ask a few questions. You can tell it’s a tight knit group running the place, and I had the pleasure of meeting the owner, Mark, the next day. He helped me check out a bike and made sure it was the right height for me and gave me some tips on the beaches and overall area. My cabin was adorable! They have put a lot of thought into the aesthetic of the cabins and property. The bed was comfortable, the shower was relaxing, and the complimentary breakfast each morning was a nice treat because it was delivered to the porch around 8am each day. The studio is a small space, but I think that’s the point. There was one corner chair and the bed to sit on, so if you plan to work or do indoor things, maybe upgrade to the bigger cabins. I utilized almost all the onsite amenities. The pool was closed for most of my stay, but I was able to use it the last morning. They offered me the option to stay past check out and use it that afternoon, which I appreciated. I had a fantastic bike ride on my first day, exploring Kennebunkport and the beaches. I took the Tuesday yoga class with Jennifer, and it was just me, so it felt like a private yoga session. I highly recommend taking advantage of the class if you’re there Tuesday or Thursday morning. I borrowed one of the beach chairs and spent an afternoon at Gooch’s Beach. I missed the smores around the fire pit but it’s a cute idea and great for folks looking to meet other guests. There is a good sandwich place across the street, but otherwise everything is a quick drive away. It was my first time in Kennebunk and staying at the Wanderer was a great first impression. It gives summer camp vibes, and I will definitely stay again, maybe even bring a few friends!

My wife and I took a two night vacation and chose The Wanderer as our place to explore from. Turns out we were the only guests for the 3 days and 2 nights of our stay. The registration office is very nice and staffed with a wonderfully helpful and nice person. She offered us their drink of the day and a cookie. Both were very good. Once checked in, she told us about the property and our cottage. We had a 2 room cottage as opposed to a studio. Combination locks instead of keys were used to access the room. We got settled in and it was time for a little exploring and to find a place for dinner. After dinner and some shopping and wandering around the Kennebunks, we headed back to The Wanderer. The fire was burning in the fire pit and there was a bad on the hook outside our cottage. It contained s’mores. So, off to the fire pit we went. We enjoyed our s’mores and looked around the property some more. The sun had set and the fire was burning out so back to our cottage to shower and get ready for some TV watching. Only problem was that we did not have any hot water. Found the circuit breakers and the water heater breaker was tripped and would not reset. No shower tonight! The next morning when our breakfast was delivered we informed the staff member that we had no hot water. She called the manager, told him our problem and was told that he would take care of it. Breakfast included 2 hard boiled eggs, 2 juices, 2 string cheeses, 2 muffins and 2 yogurts. Off for more exploring. Came back and found that we now had hot water and a note from the manager saying that he was sorry we were inconvenienced and gave us 2 coupons for free beer at Batson River Brewery in Kennebunk. Tonight there was another fire burning when we returned, but no s’mores kit as that is free the first night but must be purchased every other night. All in all it was a very enjoyable stay. Check out the pictures.
