The Coastal Prairie Trail in December of '13 was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!! The 6.5 mile hike from Flamingo Campground out to Clubhouse Beach was one of the most gorgeous short trails I have ever hiked. The mud was perfect, the dry spots relaxing, the swamp on the approach was tough to go through but well worth the reward. When I made it the other side of the swamp I stopped to take a breather and was peering down at the water... when I looked up there was a black silhouette standing there waving from the top of the beach, as if my arrival was expected and I was being greeted and encouraged by the Universe itself, reaffirming my belief that right there was where I was meant to be at that very point in time. I found silence, solitude and serenity here, which is exactly what I was looking for. The beach itself offers very little shade but it is clean. I didn't see a lot of trash. Like others have said, there seems to be very deep mud right before you reach the beach.
