I called the Payless Inn for reservations the following day. My wife, myself, and an employee had work to do in the area and needed lodging for that particular night. The person answering the phone said I could talk to 'the boss" whom he put on the phone. I confirmed that I needed two non-smoking rooms, the number of beds in each, and gave a credit card number and my phone number. He repeated it all back to me to assure he had it correct, told me how much the total bill would be, and said they'd see us the next night. ||The following evening when we tried to check in the man and woman at the desk said we had no reservations and they were booked full. When I argued with them, they became irate and very rude. Their English was very poor and I couldn't understand everything but did determine they said my reservation was made by the Day Manager and he wasn't working nights and they didn't have to honor any reservations he had made. It is speculation what happened, but the most likely scenario was that an opportunity arose for the clerk to rent my rooms for a much higher rate than my reservation and his greed for money overrode what tiny bit of ethics he possessed. Due to intense business activity in the area, motel rooms weren't available in a reasonable radius of Kingfisher so we bought blankets at Walmart and went back to the vacant farm house where we had been working and spent the night. The Payless Inn is not affiliated with any franchise group so is free to treat people any way their lack of ethics dictate. In many years of travel over the entire U.S.and dealing with motel reservations, I have never been treated in this...
Read moreThis hotel is so old and the service is horrible. We asked for a non-smoking room. It smelled like smoke so I talked to the attendant. He said they didn't have any more non-smoking rooms. There are hardly any cars on the non-smoking side so I know that can't be true. He gave me a can of air freshened. I sprayed 3/4 of the bottle and we left or the nigh(after I went back for toilet paper--there were two rolls with 3-4 sheets on each one. I'm wondering what kind if cleaning went on before we arrived. When we returned it still smelled like smoke. The sink is so old the finish is cracking. The water pressure is bad on the toilet and they have a plunger by it. There were also some flies and a moth (there is a fly swater in the room--happens a lot)? The is no closet and with two double beds there is absolutely no place to put suitcase in the room. There was a hole in the comforter and the two measley towels are very small and look completely worn out. There is a bit wad of toilet paper in the Kleenex box. The exterior of the hotel looks much nicer than the interior! We should have left! From now on I will ask to see the hotel room first at any small town hotel--and probably stay at a name brand hotel in El Reno at the next...
Read moreOne star is too many! This is by far the worst hotel I've ever stayed. Room does not offer even a small table to eat a meal. The hotel owner and family that runs the hotel seem unfriendly. The room smells like it was sprayed with some terrible cheap perfume. The room was gross, there was hair on the sheets, looked like they didn't wash the sheets, they didn't even sweep or clean the floor; and oh my, the doors were so dirty, you could see brown stains around the door handles, like it was never cleaned before. I do not recommend, unless you live in a trash can, then it would feel like home. We paid 75 bucks, this hotel ain't even worth 35....
