Dry, windy, and surrounded by dead trees. Sites 29 and 30 are right by the boat ramp; we were woken up everyday at 6am with boats driving in. Most of the trees at our site were cut out and the remaining 100ft trees drastically sway in the wind... only a matter of time before they fall. That being said, the site hosts were very nice, and the hiking trails around four mile lake are fun, yet extremely dusty/full of fallen dead trees. Read moreI've been coming here for 35 years. Every year it just gets worse! Now the private concessionaire that runs it has adopted almost a militaristic, law enforcement, authoritarian approach. Today I just wanted to have a look around and see if it was worth trying to put a boat in next weekend and maybe camp. I was in my little truck and just wanted to drive through the campground. The lake seemed fairly shallow for a pretty decent distance. Unsure when/where it gets deep at. I turned to look at the campground, and we saw the beautiful mountain peak of Mount McLaughlin.
