One word: Mosquitoes. All night. Biting, buzzing, no sleep. The owners were contacted privately after our stay to let them know about it and all they wanted to do was argue and blame us for the problem. They said, " You should have used bug spray." We did. They said, "You should have come up to the house and we might have been able to do something with the teepee flaps." (So, at 1:00 A.M., I'm supposed to get in my car, drive past the other teepees who are close by, waking everyone up with car doors closing and motor running, drive up to their house, knock on their door, wake them up and ask if they can do anything about the mosquitos. Right.) I was courteous, I didn't demand a refund, I only wanted to let them know that the mosquitos made our stay really uncomfortable and were they aware of the situation. It went downhill from there to the point where the gentleman I was talking with said two times, "I am DONE HERE!" Can you imagine a desk clerk at a hotel saying, "I am DONE HERE!" when you said, "Hey, we were short on towels in our bathroom" or whatever? And then he said, "We let you stay in a nice teepee!" No, I PAID you to stay in a nice teepee (that was infested with mosquitoes.) It's like talking to an angry Grandpa. After several attempts to come to some kind of understanding, I've decided that they just aren't interested when it comes to their teepee accommodations. They have good reviews for their trail rides and it appears that they take good care of their horses, but overnight stays in their teepees are not something that I can recommend. Also, there was no soap or even disinfectant at the portable toilet they provided for their teepee guests, which for me was the icing on the cake. Making sure you have enough soap for the only portable toilet you provide for all of your guests to use is so basic. I already know that they will have 20 reasons and excuses for why none of this is true and they'll blame me for our poor experience, since that's what I've gotten from them thus far. But my family and friends told me that it wouldn't be fair to let others be subjected to the same experience we had without warning, so, here it is. They are an older couple, so maybe they just don't understand the hospitality industry as well as they should, I have no idea. All I know is, the other places we stayed at on our trip were great and those owners went out of their way to make sure our stay was excellent and they will have my business again, but Heartline...
Read moreFantastic! First off, this is definitely camping! Except instead of a tent, you are in a Tipi. There are clean sleeping bags on comfortable mats with a fire ring in the middle. Yes, you warm the Tipi with an open fire. In all my years of camping, this was an exciting first. ||There is no electricity although they give you a very bright battery lantern. A flashlight/headlamp would be good to bring. ||There is a solar powered shower that is finicky, but got the job done. Portapotties very clean. ||The night skies were magnificent. We came in late and left early, but from other reviews, the hosts are...
Read moreThe two TeePees provided by this business are crawling with bedbugs. Literally crawling with bugs. They were on the floors, in the beds, everywhere. In addition to that the water to the shower was not functioning. The owner refused reimbursement due to the beed bugs and lack of water and we had to fight her through booking.com to get our money back. They call this rustic and send people away without refunds claiming it is "not to the customers liking" but this is actually a real health hazard full of bedbugs. I can provide video to illustrate this claim. I hope no one else has to...
